April is a mix of always being depressed and angry. Despite his fatigued, uninterested expression, April is very alert and aware of all his surroundings. He's very frightful, timid, and a bit spazzy at times. Although you wouldn't be able to tell from simply looking at him, he has taught himself to be always afraid and question everything. But even if you spoke to April, it would take a long time for you to discover what he's all about. His outward, more commonly seen personality is that of a slightly ticked off person. He appears angry, sounds angry, is actually angry, but he's generally a friendly person. He's accepting of everyone, he can be kind and caring, and enjoys a few jokes now and again all while seeming completely unamused.

Now just because April's generally nice doesn't mean he doesn't know how to be a jerk. He enjoys playing practical jokes and believes in giving an eye for an eye. April doesn't really enjoy confrontation, but he will fight if he has to. When it comes to verbal fighting, April isn't always the quickest or the wittiest with his come backs, but he tries at with what he can manage. Lastly, April's depression takes a hefty toll on him. It's clear to see in his face, but not often noticed in his actions. There isn't a visible rain cloud hung over his head at all times, but he seldom experiences any joy in his life.

April had a great life growing up. He was a member to a loving family, lived in a big home, and enjoyed the company of plenty of friends. Right at the age of six, when he first started school, friendship was no problem. He got along so well with his classmates and teachers-- even ended up graduating at the top of his 1st grade class. He had so much potential and was praised by his teachers to his parents. April even had dreams of becoming an astronaut. Of course there are always bullies in every story, and there were some who picked on April because of his name. First there was just name calling and teasing, but eventually as April started to continue through grade school onto middle school, some fights broke out between him and the other kids.

Soon enough was enough and April went by his middle name Timothy for a while. The name change didn't get him scott free, and at some points even made it worse, but for the most part it seemed pretty manageable. Despite the bully's efforts to break him, April kept up his high spirits and continued to graduate at the top of his class each year. Everything was going remotely well, and April even had a few love affairs and relationships. He was going about his normal business in college, as happy as he could be with his life. It was his final year and he was working as hard as ever, still having high hopes about working for NASA. During the spring break of that year, he had gone off to visit his aunt who owned a petting zoo.

He thought it was a little strange how her petting zoo harbored exotic animals as well as the regular goats, rabbits, and mini horses. April had promised to help out as long as he didn't have to go anywhere near the monkeys. Those were the only animals that he was terrified of ever since he saw a documentary of people's faces being mauled off. During the whole two weeks, he kept his distance and went about his business with the other animals. Finally it was his second to last day of spring break and he wanted to get an early start back to the campus, so he took one last look around the petting zoo to make sure everyone was secure and accounted for. He inspected every area except for the primate habitat. One of the spider monkeys had escaped from the habitat and was on the search for another way out. They spotted April and quickly got defensive by latching on to him and attacking him before he could see them coming. April's aunt heard the screaming in time to pry off the monkey before any critical damage was done. The aunt deeply apologized and April dismissed it and claimed to be fine.

He wasn't fine though, and started to feel very strange after being attacked. He went to the hospital and they noted that he had been bitten. The monkey had shown no sign of rabies, so they simply patched the scar up and sent him on his way. Over the course of the next few weeks, April started going through some dramatic changed. His body ached unbearably, his teeth were hurting, he was getting a ton of excess body hair, and his back was curling. At first he thought it was scoliosis, but that wasn't explaining the tooth ache or the body hair. His campus' health office was already closed for the day and wouldn't open back up until after the weekend, so he was just going to wait until Monday to get checked out. He didn't want anyone to see him this way, so he just stayed inside over the weekend and denied everyone's offers to hang out. Monday had finally came around and he could hardly believe that he hadn't looked in the mirror the whole weekend. As soon as he did he almost screamed his lungs out. He was starting to look exactly like that monkey that had attacked him.

In the background, he could hear the news on his tv about a disease outbreak in his area. The showed video clips of other creatures being deported and shipped off. April had just started trying to figure out what to do with himself, and before he even got the chance to panic any more, someone had busted into his room claiming that they heard screaming. As soon as they laid eyes on April, the was a bloodcurdling holler and before he knew it the campus was in an uproar and April was deported. His family was in a state of shock when they heard the news; they even got a glimpse of him on tv. April never got a chance to even say goodbye to his family and he wasn't sure that he'd ever see them again. In his eyes, his life was officially over. The fact that where he was going was called "Second Chance" was like a cruel joke to him. He tried to find out about the island as much as he could, learning about all the terrifying civilians and monsters that in habit the island. He was living in fear as soon as he stepped onto the island.

Months went by and he was still afraid and also very tired. He stayed up for nights on end, afraid of being killed in the middle of the night. After awhile he figured it would be better to be dead than live like this. Everything had been taken from him and he was forced into living this "second chance". At one point he was seriously considering committing suicide. Everything was planned out and he was going to do it that night, but during the day he had received a package from his family back on the mainlands. They had sent him a cheesy card with a monkey on it and bunch of bananas. He broke down in tears and decided that was enough for him to go on just a little longer. He's still heavily depressed and mad at the world for robbing him, but he soon started to see some of the interesting perks the island had. He had even gotten a job as a mailman, and now he's just living day to day on Second Chance Island.
