Description
I'll admit, this wasn't going to be my first pic for Green Lantern: The Animated Series. But I was struck with a sudden wave of inspiration and the pencil work looked so good, I couldn't help but get to it. Besides, I was in the mood for something simple.Like with my Spectacular Spider-Man fanfic ideas, I've got too many GL:TAS fanfic ideas to ever write them by myself. So like with SSM, I'm drawing a series of pics to showcase my main ideas in the hopes that I might draw co-writers to the cause to help me out. This one here is one of the big ones.
After absorbing and assimilating the colors of the Emotional Spectrum, Aya is resurrected as a White Lantern. Gifted with new power and, literally, a new lease on life, she now makes it her purpose to understand it in all its forms. As such, she spends most of her time on the Blue Lantern homeworld of Odym (pictured here). As a planet that teems with more life than any other, it's the perfect environment for her to observe its natural cycles and absorb all the knowledge she can. Of course, she has other reasons for making Odym her adopted home, but I won't get into that here (don't want to give TOO much away).
Despite the simple nature of the pic, this whole thing was pretty much an experiment from Minute One. I knew when I made the decision, I wanted to draw the pic DCAU style. And having some experience with that at this point, it wasn't that tough...at least the head and the torso. And then I got to the legs. Now anybody who's been watching my stuff for a while knows full-well that I likes me some good shapely legs. So to assimilate Aya's legs into my preferred method took a bit of doing. Not that her legs aren't attractive in their own right, they're just contrary to what I'm used to drawing. But after a couple of tries, I managed to get it done in a way that I liked.
The other challenge here was the color scheme. I knew how I wanted it to look in my head (creamy white for the armor, a light-grayish skin tone), but until I saw it, I wasn't sure if it would work. There were a couple of things I changed on the fly. Her lips, for example, I know I could have made darker. But that, to me, just conjured up too many comparisons to Raven from Teen Titans. So instead, I chose to go the other way and keep them a straight white and it still works.
And that's where we come to the rainbow-colored highlights, which were, BY FAR, the biggest gamble. But this was something I wanted to add for a couple of reasons. One, because she was going to be pretty much bland white, I wanted SOMETHING in there for a bit of contrast. Also, I wanted to still illustrate Aya's mechanical nature through the highlights all the colors of the Emotional Spectrum that she assimilated and now runs on. I really didn't know how this was going to look when I started. But when I was finished, I have to say, while it may look a TEENY bit odd, it wasn't something I disliked enough to do away with.
Besides, I still think it works as an animated feature of her. Picture all of the colors in a constant state of rotation, with certain colors becoming more predominant than others with changes in her emotional state. For example, in a moment of shock or uncertainty, her highlights would change primarily Yellow, in order to illustrate Fear. As such, she's almost like a living mood ring. Talk about literally wearing your heart on your sleeve, am I right? ^_^
All-in-all, I'm quite happy with the pic and I hope everyone else is, too. And if this pic should happen to make you curious about my fanfic ideas and possibly want to help me out so they can be written, so much the better. One way or another, as always, I look forward to hearing what you have to say. ^_^

Well, I guess we'll start with the Green Lanterns, given that they're pretty much the center of all this (both figuratively and literally). The Green Lantern Corps is based on the planet of Oa. With Oa as the center, the Corps leaders, the Guardians, have divided the entire uinverse into 3600 Sectors, with two Green Lanterns patrolling each Sector. As a point of interest, Earth is in Sector 2814.

Well, that's why I'm trying to keep this as simple as I possibly can, because this is A LOT of information to absorb.
What I think I'll do next is give you a couple of short videos to look at. It'll give you a taste of some of the main characters. Hal Jordan, of course, but also Kilowog, widely regarded as the toughest Drill Sergeant in the entire history of the Green Lantern Corps. It'll also give you a small taste of what the rings can do and also demonstrate that Green Lanterns truly DO come in all shapes and sizes...
...and yes, these GLs really DO exist. ^_^

Ya O_O
It's pretty cool so far. I like that squirrel dude from the first clip. Reminds me of Ratatoskr from Smite, is he a main character or just there for the one ep?
But ya I can see myself watching this from time to time. I also like that pink guy from both vids.

TuxedAaron In reply to TheRandomGirlXD [2016-06-26 03:36:31 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, Kilowog's always been a fan favorite over the years. Justice League kind of portrayed him as a big, dumb lug, but in this series, he's a bit more level-headed.
As for Ch'p, yeah, he's definitely one of the more interesting Green Lanterns out there. And yet, he's not even the smallest one. You remember Mogo. Well, ironically, the other Green Lantern that shares its Sector is Bzzd, an actual FLY. But even HE'S not the smallest one. That honor actually actually belongs to Leezle Pon, a sentient smallpox virus from Sector 119.
You'll find no shortage of weird and wild Lanterns like this. There's even Dkrtzy RRR, from Sector 188, who's actually a living mathematical equation.
But getting back to Ch'p, he's not a MAIN character, but he makes a couple of cameos. One is that episode. And I'm pretty sure he appears in the Season/Series Finale, at some point. I'm sure they put him in one of the DC Lego games, though. He's too perfect not to use.
But moving right along, you've already seen what the Green Lantern Rings can do, in general. It's pretty much the same thing ALL Lantern Rings can do (but with a variation or two, here and there). They provide flight and personal force fields to shield from attacks, hazardous or toxic environments and even the vacuum of space. And of course, they can fire energy blasts. But the REAL kicker is the ability to form solid shapes and constructs, either as weapons for combat or tools for aid.
Of course, while the capabilities of a Lantern Ring maybe nearly limitless, it IS limited in other respects. Primarily, the fact that Rings only carry so much energy and need to be recharged regularly, in order to keep functioning. For that, you need to keep your Green Lantern Power Battery conveniently located at all times. You'd also better know your Lantern Oath, because it's the only way to USE the Battery. In the case of the GREEN Lantern oath, it's as follows...
"In Brightest Day,
In Blackest Night,
No Evil shall,
Escape my sight.
Let those who worship,
Evil's might,
Beware my power,
Green Lantern's light."
(Yeah, it's a little cheesy, but you've gotta understand, it's been around a while. Some of the other Lantern Corps oaths are a little snappier.)

I see.
Wait, you're telling me that a f***ing virus is a green lantern? What's next? Are molecules and atoms next? Lol. But that's honestly pretty interesting.
WHAT... WTF? But that's non existent! Wtf if a math equation can become a green lantern than I wanna be a green lantern right now!
Oh ya, almost forgot about those games! I honestly just want to play them to increase my comic logic!
Yep, I already know that, thanks to the movie... with Ryan Reynolds... remember? Eveeeeeryooooooone's faaaaaavourte!
Ya there is a bigger lantern that charges that tiny ring. I know this from both the movie and the big bang theory. They mention GL in the show from time to time.
Never knew there was an oath though, guess I learned something new today... on vacation. But that's still cool.

TuxedAaron In reply to TheRandomGirlXD [2016-06-27 02:43:22 +0000 UTC]
Well, if YOU want to become a Green Lantern, two things have to happen. One, a Green Lantern from your Sector has to die (there are TINY exceptions to this rule, but they're EXTREMELY few and far between). And two, you have to demonstrate that you have the ability to overcome great fear (I'll explain why in a later message).
Oh, so you DO have some Green Lantern knowledge. You just thought that the oath from the movie was something they said, not that it served an actual purpose.
I sensed some sarcasm when you referred to Ryan Reynolds, though. Personally, I didn't have a problem with Reynolds playing Hal Jordan in the movie. So many people complain that Nathan Fillion should have Played Hal, because I guess he was originally lined up to do it. But to those people, all I can say is...what did you think was going to change? Reynolds wasn't the reason the movie failed. It failed because the writing was bad and because the director cut corners. I mean, that bit where he repeated footage? That's not even made-for-TV movie horsesh*BEEP!*t. And in spite of the fact that they had all these FAR more interesting GL characters to choose from, they chose, instead, to focus on Hector Hammond...EASILY the LAMEST Green Lantern villain on the entire roster. So HOW did anyone think that Nathan Fillion was going to swoop in and magically save the day?
Having said all that, however, I still think the most interesting aspect of the movie was how Sinestro was played out and what drove him to ultimately take up the Yellow Light of Fear. I suspect that this was in response to Geoff John's five (plus)-year run on the Green Lantern comics. Before Johns came into the picture, Sinestro was always a straight-up, black hat villain...the typical "fallen angel" model of the onetime hero who'd become corrupted by the very power he wielded. But over the entire course of Johns' run, he began the process of converting Sinestro from a villain into an anti-hero. It started small at first, using the more modern trope of "root for the bad guy, because the guys he's up against are even worse". But then he started peeling back previously unseen (and truthfully, un-THOUGHT of) layers to Sinestro's character, making him deeper than the previously black-and-white model he was and dragging him into that ever-expanding "Grey Area".
I suspect the movie's intention was to kind of roll with that, by portraying Sinestro less as a conceited, power-mad tyrant and more as a good man, tempted. Sure he was still arrogant as anything (your typical villain trope), but that's a failing that I've observed is quite common among veteran Green Lanterns. Once they've been around the block a few times, they start getting this idea in their heads that they're indestructible. And that's usually what leads to their downfall, because the second something comes along that they're not prepared for, they freeze up, because they don't know how to handle it.
And that's pretty much what happens to Sinestro in the movie. When Parallax comes along, he still can't bring himself to admit that he's spooked. But at the same time, he can't help thinking, "Well, DAMN...I thought we were all that and a bag of potato chips until THIS thing came along. But if this is actually the better deal, then why aren't we USING it?". His intentions are still noble (at least, in HIS mind), but he loses sight of the better path.

Sector? Overcome great fears? Nah, that's too much for me.
I honestly don't remember the oath. I saw that movie in grade 5, so it was a long time ago.
I was just saying Ryan Reynolds because even though that was to only GL movie (to my knowledge at least), I believe there has been a lot of GL incarnations over the years. I honestly thought Ryan Reynolds was ok as the main protagonist. I was honestly scared you were going to yell at me for bringing that movie up because I know a lot of the fans hated it, sorry .
Sinestro? You mean that red guy? I thought he was ok too. However, as I look back, I found him quite scary as a kid. I don't know why though, maybe because he reminded me of a demon? I don't honestly know.
Wait, was Parallax that yellow creature thing? That's probably the only thing I remember from the film to be honest.

Well, the movie has been out a while. But no, I wouldn't get angry about you mentioning it. I do think the movie failed more than it succeeded. But at the same time, it had SOME interesting parts, so I can't say I HATE it.
When you talk about GL incarnations, do you mean different GL characters? Because that would be true. At present, there are currently six Green Lanterns from Earth...five guys and one girl.
Found him scary? Well, in present times, I'm sure Sinestro would consider that a compliment. And I suppose his design, like his name, was intended to look demonic, so as to leave no doubt that he was a bad guy.
Well, the truth is, Parallax is one of the Emotional Entities, living embodiments of the Emotional Spectrum. Parallax is one of the more well-known ones, but before I get into him, it might be best to list them all for you before I get into him...
- Ion (Green). The Entity of Will, created from the first single-celled organism that ever willed itself to move, thus leading to the creation of intelligent life.
- Parallax (Yellow). The Entity of Fear, created from the first creature that ever fled for its own survival.
- The Predator (Violet). The Entity of Love, created from the first act of love.
- Ophidian (Orange). The Entity of Greed, created from the first creature to ever consume something it did not need.
- The Butcher (Red). The Entity of Hate, created from the blood of the first act of murder.
- Adara (Blue). The Entity of Hope, who was created from the utterance of the first prayer.
- Proselyte (Indigo). The Entity of Compassion, created out of all living beings' need for good will towards one another.

I agree with your opinion.
Actually, I meant different types of the series. I'm pretty sure that GL has been around since the mid 20th century, so there would have to be a lot of different versions and variations of GL by now.
Compliment? Hehehe, well, I hope he's happy But ya, his demonic factors are present in the film, that's for sure. O_O
Just looked all of them up, those element things look really awesome! I would love it if there was a spin-off just for those creatures.

Glad to hear it.
Well, there really haven't been as many as you might think. I mean, aside from the comics and the live action film, there have really only been four or five animated incarnations (acknowledging some of the DC Animated movies as separate). That's fewer than Superman and WAY fewer than Batman. Yet, strangely enough, more than Wonder Woman. Are producers and writers just afraid of her? That's the only explanation I can think of at this point.
Well, now that you're a little older (and maybe a little less prone to being scared), you might want to check out Sinestro here. As this clip shows, Sinestro is still a Green Lantern in the animated series (though as the end of the episode reveals, well on his way to his fall from grace). But it is a shame he only got to appear in one episode, because frankly, I thought Ron Perlman voicing him was an inspired choice. Well, if I can get my GL:TAS fanfics off the ground, he'll be much more present. But anyway...
www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVM3Ho…
Well, in the comics, there was KIND OF a spin-off story. In the Green Lantern crossover arc, "War of the Green Lanterns", a renegade Guardian named Krona enslaves the Emotional Entities and attempts to use them to conquer the universe. But outside of that, of all the Emotional Entities, Parallax has always been the one to receive the most attention.

Well, Sinestro does look less creepy here. He also has a decent voice actor too. Gotta say though, that Razer character looks a lot like Rath from Battleborn, which is pretty neat in my opinion. Oh, and is that where that white robot from your picture originated from?

Well, I can give you some intel on Sinestro, if you'd like. Some things about him are pretty interesting. And yes, that IS the same Aya I drew. She's just a little different in my pics. In the meantime, though, this will give you a little bit of info on her and Razer.

Well, it's true, Razer's been through a lot. Mind you, he also met this guy...
www.youtube.com/watch?v=58WD6I…
www.youtube.com/watch?v=58WD6I…
Of course, it's fair to say that Aya went through quite a bit, too. And while some of those things, she brought upon herself, others were, indeed, thrust upon her by circumstances she could not have foreseen. Personally, I think she needed to be patted on the head more.
Well, I think I'll start with Sinestro. Once regarded at the greatest Green Lantern, Sinestro hails from the planet Korugar in Sector 1417, considered, at that time, to be the most orderly and peaceful Sector in the entire universe. Hal's exposure to him would come early in his career as a Green Lantern. Once his basic training was complete, Hal went his own merry way, much to the chagrin of the Guardians. So they decided to put Sinestro next to him as his instructor for a more "advanced" training regimen.
Translation: The Guardians sicced Sinestro on Hal to slap him down and get him to tow the company line. You'll find this to be a regular failing on the part of the Guardians, throughout their history. They may claim to have everyone's best interests at heart (and more often than not, it's been true), but the one thing they've always cared about more than protecting the universe is preserving their power base.
Hal understood immediately why Sinestro had been brought down upon his head, so needless to say, their initial meeting did not go over very well. But as Hal began to realize that Sinestro had his own affinity for bucking the system and flouting authority, it didn't take long for him to change his tune and begin developing a kinship with the guy. What resulted was Hal not only growing to consider Sinestro a mentor, but even a trusted friend.
That is, until they got to Korugar and Hal discovered what made it work so well. Apparently, Sinestro had established a puppet government under his control. After the Green Lantern Corps ousted him from power (an act which Hal was instrumental in), Sinestro was put on trial by the Guardians for the greatest crime a Green Lantern can commit...the act of instilling fear. Sinestro was then Banished to the Anti-Matter universe, where, on the planet Qward, he came into the possession of a NEW Ring.
Now, I told you THAT story to tell you the NEXT one. And that story is going to involve Parallax.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=lu547H…
Well, just out of curiosity, how much do you know about Aya, beyond what I've shown you?
I'm talking about the Guardians of the Universe. They're a race of immortals, almost as old as the universe, itself. But despite their obscene level of power, they've always preferred watching over things from a distance, sending others to pursue their agendas. Because the Guardians distrust emotions, they chose the Green Light of Will as the power source for the Corps, primarily because it is the most balanced and least influenced by emotional states. Before the Corps, they tried to use robots as peacekeepers (aka. the Manhunters). But that all changed when the renegade Guardian, Krona, messed with their programming and sent them on a rampage, wiping out all life in Sector 666. This act is what ultimately led to the creation of the Red Lantern Corps.
And yet, the Guardians are not the only beings who hail from Oa.

Nothing much. That picture you showed me was the first time I've even seen her.
Oh I think I get it now. The Green lanterns are the most "positive" compared to the other colors, right? Also, is Sector 666 where Sinestro comes from? (I'm just guessing because 666 is usually marked as the number of the devil).

TuxedAaron In reply to TheRandomGirlXD [2016-07-02 02:33:19 +0000 UTC]
Well, the Blue Lanterns are arguably the most powerful of all the Lantern Corps. Which is why, in the comics, their Rings were given a crippling weakness. Because Hope can't exist independently of itself, it requires Willpower to truly be made manifest. As such, a Blue Lantern Ring MUST be in proximity to a Green Lantern Ring in order to work. The Rings can still provide flight and personal force fields if a Green Lantern is not present, but they are unable to fire. The Animated Series, however, appears to have sidestepped that little wrinkle.
Well, I'm going to have to give you some intel on her, since the fanfics I'm planning are based on The Animated series and she has a big role to play in both.
Well, I wouldn't say the Green Lanterns are the most "positive" (that distinction would probably go to the Blue Lanterns), but they're definitely the most stable, which is why the Guardians chose it, because they covet control and order. The one key to the Emotional Spectrum is, the further away from the Center (Green) that the colors get, the more control that light holds over its wielder. Blue and Yellow are closest to Green, so they're the ones that function the most like the Green Lantern Rings do. But once you get into Indigo and Orange...and then into Violet and Red...things get a little more chaotic.

Oh I get it. It's like the pH scale. What's in the middle is more "neutral" but if you move down to the left, it's more acidic (Like red) and if you move down to the right, it's more basic (like violet) Am I right?

TuxedAaron In reply to TheRandomGirlXD [2016-07-03 01:03:33 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, they're my favorite, too. And the animated series barely scratched the surface of what they're capable of in the comics. I already mentioned what a Blue Ring's weakness is. But if there IS a Green Lantern kicking around, LOOK OUT. Like the other Corps, the Blue Lanterns are able to form constructs to aid them in battle. However, combat is NOT a Blue Lantern's primary function. In most cases, a Blue Ring's constructs will take on the form of what will most likely ease the specific target's troubled mind. Once the Blue Light hits, it can ease the target's particular affliction (eg. violent impulses brought on by Red Light exposure) by igniting the hope in their heart, usually in the form of a future vision to give them faith. Blue Rings can also provide such visions to targets as a defense mechanism to a particular threat, using the target's hope to either defuse the situation or to provide distraction for a counter-attack.
But that's all just foreplay. Let me break down for you what a Blue Lantern is REALLY capable of. Not only can they can keep Green Lantern Rings indefinitely charged, but they DRAIN Sinestro Corps Rings. Exposure to the Blue Light eases the endless hunger of desire brought on by the Orange Light, and even calms the Red Light of Rage, giving the normally mindless Red Lanterns the ability to actually think. In fact, if a Red Lantern is wearing another Ring (which has happened - Hal Jordan and Guy Gardner have both been turned into Red Lanterns when enough anger overcame them, but they were still wearing their Green Rings), Blue Lanterns can even DESTROY Red Rings and cure the Red Light's infliction outright.
Still not enough? How about a Blue Lantern's ability to de-age dying suns back into young stars simply by exposing them to the Blue Light? Saint Walker and Brother Warth both demonstrated this ability quite handily to Hal Jordan, as a sun was about to go nova and destroy an inhabited world, turning the sun's clock back 8.6 BILLION years in a matter of seconds. But while both participated in the act, in truth, only one of them would have been more than enough to do the job. According To Saint Walker, several aging stars have been given new life simply because he happened to fly past them.
Now, I already know what you're thinking. How much power does it drain from a Blue Ring to pull off all these little miracles? Well, the truth is, in most cases, NONE WHATSOEVER. Because the Blue Lanterns utilize their Light to provide hope, both in those they help AND in those they fight, their Rings collect that hope they instill and thus, remain continuously charged. Of course, should the need arise that they need to absolutely sure their Rings are charged to 100%, the Blue Lanterns do, of course, have their own Batteries and an oath...
"In fearful day,
In raging night,
With strong hearts full,
Our souls ignite,
When all seems lost,
In the War of Light,
Look to the stars,
For hope burns bright!"
Something tells me that Aya could have used the Blue Lanterns at a specific moment in her life. But I'll get into that a little later.
Well, that's one way to describe the emotional spectrum. As good an analogy as any.
Oh, and I never answered your question from earlier. Well, I DID, kind of, but I can elaborate further. No, Sinestro is not from Sector 666. As I mentioned earlier, he's from Sector 1417. However, there IS one who DOES hail from Sector 666. That one being Atrocitus...leader of the Red Lantern Corps.

Support characters are definitely the most precise way to describe the Blue Lanterns. While they CAN fight enemies if they have to, they're generally much more content to help others. In fact, when Geoff Johns ended his run on Green Lantern, his final story was actually told from the perspective of the future, where he revealed how everyone's lives turn out. When he got to the Blue Lanterns, he revealed that they eventually expand in numbers equal to, or even GREATER than the Green Lantern Corps. But unlike the peacekeeping force that is the Green Lanterns, the Blue Lanterns choose, instead, to act as a humanitarian coalition, using their abilities to bring aid and hope to others in need.
Well, de-aging dying suns isn't really a time thing, so you can't say they can control time. I'm sure the Blue Lanterns would say that's too much power for anyone to have, anyway. But they are still a ridiculously powerful group to have around. So yeah, they're pretty cool.
Fair enough. The pH scale is as good a way to look at it as any.
Well, if you Google the Red Lanterns and look at some of the images you find, you'll see why Sector 666 is actually pretty appropriate for them. As for Atrocitus, yeah, he's pretty hardcore. See, Atrocitus was one of the Five Inversions, the ONLY five sentient life forms to survive the Manhunter genocide of Sector 666. Blaming the Guardians for the destruction of their worlds, friends and families, the Five Inversions sought to eradicate them. But five mere mortals against the most powerful beings in the universe (AND their soldiers) is a pretty tall order, the end result being that the five of them were banished to the Planet, Ysmault, in Sector 666.
However, after centuries of languishing on that dead world, Atrocitus' growing hatred would grant him insight into the Red Light of Rage. After murdering the other four Inversions, Atrocitus would use their blood to forge the first Red Lantern Power Battery. If you look at some of the Red Lantern pictures from the comics, you'll see that blood plays a very pivotal role in how their powers work, but I'll get into that next time.

Well that makes sense. I guess most of them must be Mercy from Overwatch and their modo is: "Heroes never die" or in this case "Green Lanterns never die"
It's not? Sad, isn't there anyone in the GL universe that can control time?
Totally!
I did, and they are pretty cool in my opinion. Atrocitus is a bada$$! There is this one Red Lantern that I really like, named Dex Starr. He is a cat and he looks so bada$$ with all that blood around his mouth. Does he made an appearance in the animated series by any chance?
Oh, so that explains why I always see Dex with blood around him. Oh, here's a joke! You know why the Red Lanterns wear red? So that the good guys can't see them bleed

Well, a Green Lantern CAN'T "technically" die, because any time a Green Lantern DOES get killed, their ring just moves on to the next deserving person. But yeah, that would pretty much be a solid motto for the Blue Lanterns...even though they prefer their motto, "All will be well".
Well, there are really enough time travel gimmicks on the DCU that the Lantern side of things doesn't really need one.
Well, the irony about the Red Lantern Corps, in the comics, is that most of the people the rings found were, ironically, victims of the Sinestro Corps during their initial campaign against the Green Lanterns. I say, "irony", because, in the Sinestro Corps' efforts to spread fear throughout the galaxy, all they did was end up ROYALLY pissing these people off. One member named Vice became a Red Lantern after his mate was killed by Arkillo, one of Sinestro's top Lieutenants. Another member, named Bleez, was actually a Princess on her home world, until a commoner she rejected became a member of the Sinestro Corps and held her prisoner on the machine world of Ranx, where she was repeatedly tortured and raped by other Sinestro Corps members.
Of course, some members, like Bleez, weren't the nicest people in the universe even BEFORE they became Red Lanterns, but that doesn't mean they deserved what happened to them. You mentioned Dex-Starr (and before I go on, no, he doesn't appear in the animated series), if you read his origin story, of how he became a Red Lantern, THAT is especially heartbreaking.
At the climax of the graphic novel, "Batman: The Killing Joke", the Joker says one of his most infamous lines, "That's all that separates me from the rest of the world. Just ONE...BAD...DAY." Well, if Dex-Starr had been around back then, he would have certainly made a strong case in favor of the Joker's argument. Believe it or not, Dex-Starr started out as a simple earth kitten named Dexter, who was adopted by a kindly old lady who lived in the neighborhood where he was born. For years, he lived with her happily...until she was murdered by a burglar who broke into her apartment. If that wasn't enough, poor Dexter was kicked out of the apartment by police officers who were investigating the crime, then found by two street punks, who decided to stuff him in a sack and throw him off a bridge just for kicks. It was at that point that the ring found the poor cat, turning him into Dex-Starr (the name the ring gave him - apparently it didn't know how to pronounce his name correctly). Since then, Dex-Starr has now been on a mission to hunt down the fiend who murdered his beloved owner.
But enough about the members, let's talk about their powers. One thing you notice about the Red Lanterns, when you see them, is that they're constantly coughing up blood and you tossed the Deadpool joke at that. But it's an after effect of wearing the ring. Apparently, whoever is chosen by a red ring has a hatred that runs so deep that their blood literally becomes poison in their veins, so the ring expels the blood and replaces it with the red light of rage. But the blood also becomes a Red Lantern's key weapon, acting like napalm to burn their victims to death, even in the vacuum of space. And most of the other Lantern rings can provide no defense, as exposure to the Red Light corrupts their minds with rage and renders the protection of their rings useless.
However, a Red Lantern's greatest strength is also its biggest weakness. Because the rings are constantly expelling their blood, they also act as the wearer's life-support system. The only thing keeping a Red Lantern alive is the light that their ring pumps through their veins. So if the ring is ever removed, the Lantern will instantly die (there are ways around this, however, but I'll get into that later on). The other weakness is that Hate is one of the two colors on the farthest side of the Emotional Spectrum and as I've explained, the farther a color is from the central color of Willpower, the more control that emotion has over the wearer. In a sense, it becomes less like you're wearing the ring and more like the ring is wearing you. Never is this more apparent than in the case of the Red Lanterns. When exposed to the Red Light of Rage, a Red Lantern becomes little more than a mindless, rampaging beast. To date, Atrocitus is the only one to overcome this effect, having lived with his hate for centuries and learning how to harness it. Because of this, Atrocitus is also the only Red Lantern who is able to form constructs with his ring, as the Red Light holds no sway over his mind and thus, he is able to focus. All the other Red Lanterns can do nothing but vomit waves of blood to burn their victims.
Definitely a unique Lantern Corps, to be sure. And their oath is no less so. You'll find that most of the other Corps oaths are variations of the Green Lantern oath, but not these guys. Of course, it's hardly ever used, since the Red Lantern rings are powered by the blood of those they kill. Also, since Atrocitus is the only one with his own battery (not to mention the only one of a handful who can actually speak - almost all the rest simply snarl like mad dogs), he's really the only one who says the words if he needs to...
"With blood and rage,
Of crimson red,
Ripped from a corpse,
So freshly dead,
Together,
With our hellish hate,
We'll burn you all,
THAT IS YOUR FATE!!!"
Now, the Animated series downplays the Red Lanterns quite a bit, making them not nearly as grim and violent as their comic book counterparts (even going so far as to almost completely rewrite the oath, word for word). But even though none of them are mindless (although the argument could be made that their thought processes are still somewhat impaired by the influence of the Read Light) they are still EASILY the most savage of the Lantern Corps.

Oh, wasn't that quote on your miiverse account?
Oh ya, I almost forgot the the Green Lantern is copyrighted by DC. That was completely over my head.
Wow, I actually feel bad for the Red guys. Are the yellow lanterns the true villains? Cuz I just feel bad for each one now.
Aww, I feel really bad for the poor cat. I'm such a huge animal lover and hearing stuff like that is truly upsetting.
In the comics, does he ever find the killer?
Hmm... maybe it's actually a good thing that they are getting rid of their blood. They could be immune to stuff like septicemia and HIV/AIDS.
Ouch, nvm what I said in my last sentence, that's even worse. But wait, I have an idea (And it might sound a little offensive and dumb). What if a red lantern already has aids and then spits their blood on someone, do they contract aids too? Basically, if a red lantern is ill, is he more powerful???
Spooky oath, this should be for all the bad guys that ever existed.
Well, I think I know a few enemies of mine who would actually fit begin a red lantern, which I guess it's not a good thing, but I can't complain. :/

Yeah it is. Because I like to be positive and the Blue Lanterns are my favorite Lanterns. ^_^
To my knowledge, Dex-Starr is still looking for his owner's killer. Although it doesn't help that he spends most of his time with Atrocitus and doesn't get back to Earth much. That being said, he HAS apparently gained the ability to make his own Red Light constructs by drinking the blood of another Red Lantern from Earth.
As for your comment about a Red Lantern being diseased, that's a little out there. I would imagine that if they became a Red Lantern, their affliction would more or less be cured. I don't know if anyone's actually thought about it from that perspective.
But yeah, all the Red Lanterns have had pretty much a horrible time of it and again, a pretty fair chunk of it is the fault of the Sinestro Corps. As for the Sinestro Corps, itself, essentially, they're a group of the most vile, sadistic beings ever to inhabit the universe's 3600 Sectors. Recruiting these beings and arming them with rings patterned after his original yellow ring, Sinestro began a campaign seemingly meant to destroy the Green Lantern Corps and replace it with his own, even though that action would seem counter-productive to Sinestro's intentions to force order upon the universe.
However, Sinestro's plan was actually quite different than what was originally assumed. Instead of intending to replace the Green Lantern Corps, Sinestro's true purpose of creating his own Corps was to actually MOLD the Green Lantern Corps into what he believes they should have always been. For one thing, a Green Lantern has never been allowed to kill anyone (if ever a Green Lantern tried to kill someone with their power, their ring would automatically shut down). But because of Sinestro's actions, that restriction has since been repealed. In response to the Sinestro Corps' attacks, the Guardians wrote new laws into the Book of Oa. The first new law enabled lethal force against all members of the Sinestro Corps. Sinestro was eventually defeated not long after, but even then, the Guardians then took the first new law one step further with the implementation of a second...authorizing lethal force against ALL enemies of the Green Lantern Corps. So even though Sinestro lost his war with the Green Lanterns, in the end, he ultimately got exactly what he wanted. And at the same time, the Sinestro Corps still existed and remained steadfastly loyal to him.
As for the Sinestro Corps themselves, again, they're one of the Corps that's closest to the Green Lanterns in how their rings work. They can form constructs of anything they can imagine, they can fly and produce force fields to protect themselves. Their rings also require charging, although during the war, Sinestro used the Manhunters to act as Batteries so his Corpsmen would constantly have charging stations nearby. And like all the Corps (except one, but I'll get into that later), they have their own oath...
"In Blackest Day,
In Brightest Night,
Beware your Fears,
Made into Light.
Let those who try
To stop what's right,
Burn like his power
Sinestro's might!"
(Note: When Sinestro speaks the oath, he actually speaks the seventh stanza, "Burn like MY power". But as you can see, his oath is meant to be as much a polar opposite to the Green Lantern Oath as possible. In fact, when his oath refers to "those who try to stop what's right", he's actually referring to the Guardians.)
But of course, their rings are yellow, which are based on Sinestro's original ring. When Sinestro was ousted from the Green Lantern Corps, after Hal Jordan discovered that Sinestro was using his power as a Green Lantern to hold a dictatorial rule over his home planet of Korugar, he was exiled to the Anti-Matter Universe, where he discovered a planet called Qward, populated by talented Weaponers. Employing one such Weaponer, he had a yellow ring and Battery fashioned. For the longest time, Sinestro didn't know how the yellow light worked. He only chose it because the Green Lanterns were vulnerable to anything yellow. It was learned later on that the reason was because Parallax was imprisoned inside the Central Power Battery on Oa by the Guardians. This created an impurity in the Green light and made it vulnerable to yellow. Only very few exceptional Green Lanterns were able to overcome this. And the Guardians never told anyone because they didn't want Parallax's existence to be made known.
Once Sinestro learned of the existence of Parallax, he finally understood how the Yellow light worked. Using this knowledge, he went back to Qward and enslaved all the Weaponers, in order to fashion more rings so he could go about building his Corps. In fact, later on, he even recruited one of the Weaponers into the Sinestro Corps (the very one who fashioned his original ring) so he would have a continuous supply of rings as the Corps needed them.
As for the Corps members, well, the truth is, they're all pretty much psychopaths and mad dog killers, which is why their Rings chose them, simply for their ability to "instill great fear". However, there is one member that I have to admit, I have a certain affinity for. Her name is Karu-Sil and, like Arkillo, she's another of the Corps' top Lieutenants. The reason I kind of feel for her is, quite simply, the monster she became was not entirely one of her own making. For her origin, well, think the story of "The Jungle Book", but going the other way.
Karu-Sil comes from a primitive planet where tribal wars and massacres are commonplace. After one such raid resulted in her being the only survivor of her village (when she was little more than five years old, I might add), she was forced to fend for herself, which caused her to run across a pack of wild predators. Instead of killing her, however, the creatures adopted her into their pack and looked after her for years. Eventually, life with the pack became the only thing she knew. But as she grew older and her mind began to develop, she began to wonder why she didn't look like the rest of her adopted "family", driving her to the point where she actually cut off her lips and filed her teeth into sharp points so she would look more like them.
Eventually, in her teens, she came across a young man, like her. Naturally, the man was intrigued, until he saw her up close (one of Karu-Sil's main tactics is keeping all her hair waving in front of her face so all you see is her hot body and you don't know what you're REALLY getting into until it's too late). Karu, however, didn't see the man as another of her kind. All she saw was another meal, so she killed him as food for her pack. As the pack was feeding, however, the Green Lantern of Karu's Sector happened to appear. Coming in on the tail end of the whole incident, he assumed that Karu's pack was responsible for the man's death and Karu's facial mutilation, so he killed the animals and arranged to have Karu hospitalized...where she remained in psychiatric incarceration after she ripped her doctor's throat out. Eventually, She was found by one of Sinestro's rings, which allowed her to pursue her two greatest desires...the resurrection of her pack (the only constructs she makes with her ring are in the form of her pack) and the destruction of the "wicked" Green Lanterns that slaughtered them in the first place.
Well, that's pretty much all the basic info on the Sinestro Corps, except to say that out of all of the Corps, I think they probably have the coolest uniforms. But that's just me.

Well damn. He does sound like an interesting character, I might look him up more.
Really? Well then, guess I'm the first one!
From that, I think it's fair to say that I like the red corps more than the Sinestro Corps
Well damn, I wish the Sinestro corps lost 100%.
Not a bad oath, it's quite poetic actually.
So Green is more vulnerable to yellow? Is their like a Pokemon thing going on where some colours can effect other colours more than others?
Dammit! I blame Parallax for all the evil there is in that universe then.
Psychopaths you say? I could get used to that. After all, some of my favourite movies are The Shining and Clockwork Orange and they have great psychopathic characters.
Damn, she sounds like Jeff the killer O_O
Wow, that's extreme, but it does sound interesting.
Nah, so far the Red corps have the coolest uniforms imo.

Well, some of the Red Lanterns are interesting. They start becoming more unique after Atrocitus actually helps give Bleez back her intelligence, in order to make her his second in command.
Well, I don't know if you're the FIRST to think like that. But I don't know if anyone's ever brought it up. I can't imagine it was meant to be thought of along those lines.
Well, the Sinestro Corps eventually WOULD lose 100%, in a way. When a bizarre twist of fate sees Sinestro once again become a Green Lantern, the Sinestro Corps is suddenly left without a leader and they begin running rampant, most of them choosing the citizens of Korugar as their prey (because that's where Sinestro based them). However, Sinestro always had a plan in place to defeat them, if need be, employing the Central Battery of the Sinestro Corps to DRAIN all the power from the Corps' Rings instead of charging them. And the ones who didn't die in space (because their Rings could no longer function to protect them) were placed into a forced coma, only to awaken when Sinestro would relight the Battery. Eventually, what remained of the Corps WOULD reawaken, but Sinestro would place them under the supervision of Arkillo (arguably the ONLY Sinestro Corps member with any sense of honor) and tasked him to lead the Corps into deep space where they could no longer threaten the universe.
Well, Parallax is definitely dangerous, which is why the Guardians imprisoned him. But eventually, he would gain other abilities besides just being the "Yellow Impurity" which made Green Lantern Rings unable to work against the color. Eventually, he would gain the power to brainwash other Green Lanterns. It started with Hal Jordan, after Hank Henshaw (the Cyborg Superman) teamed up with the alien warlord, Mongul, and completely obliterated his home town of Coast City. Unable to deal with the loss, Hal was vulnerable to Parallax's influence and went completely over the edge. When the Guardians tried to rein him in, he turned on the entire Lantern Corps, going to war against members he once considered his closest friends, taking their rings for his own and leaving them for dead. Things would get even worse when Hal destroyed the Central Power Battery on Oa, which (unbeknownst to him) freed Parallax, who then took complete possession of him.
Later on, however, Parallax would gain the ability to brainwash multiple Green Lanterns as the "Yellow Impurity". A fact that the Renegade Guardian, Krona, would be quick to exploit as he reinserted Parallax into the Central Power Battery, in order to bring the entire Green Lantern Corps under his control.
Jeff the killer? Do I even WANT to know?
Still, if you think the Sinestro Corps is bad, would it surprise you to know that there are beings in the universe who are arguably even worse than THEY are? If not, it MAY surprise you when I tell you where they ARE.

Oh, that reminds me, I have a question: Is there any difference to Parallax from the film and Parallax in the comics? Because he looks different in the movie.
Oh he can brainwash people? He's so op.
Umm... probably not. It's just that the girl you mentioned had a broken mouth and that reminded me of Jeff. Just letting you know, I don't even read creepypastas. I just know him from my friend who reads creepypastas all the time.

Well, as I've said before, the Red Lanterns are completely at the mercy of their hate, turning them into little more than mindless beasts. However, again, there are exceptions. Atrocitus is the primary example. As the patriarch of the Red Lanterns, he was the first to master his own rage, allowing him to become a Red Lantern while still maintaining his sanity. But when the object of Atrocitus' rage (the exiled Guardian Krona, who initiated the Manhunter genocide of Sector 666) was killed by Hal Jordan, Atrocitus lost all focus. And so, too, did the Red Lanterns, who began to fight amongst themselves, with Bleez initiating most of the conflicts. Realizing that he couldn't always stay on Ysmault to act as babysitter for his Corps, Atrocitus decided that he needed a second-in-command.
His selection turned out to be Bleez, herself, whom he tossed into the Blood Ocean that powered Ysmault's Central Battery. As her body absorbed blood from the ocean, Bleez's brain began to function once again and she took control of her rage. However, the ease at which Bleez subsequently tamed the rest of the Corps (and her offer of a cryptic smirk in Atrocius' direction) caused Atrocitus to worry that, even in her mindless state, Bleez had instigated the internal riots in the hopes of manipulating Atrocitus into restoring her to normal. Which meant that, under no circumstances, could Bleez be trusted.
As for your theory, it's not without merit. I just don't think it was ever meant to be thought of that way.
That's insane? That's the Sinestro Corps.
Okay, Parallax in the movie is actually quite different from Parallax in the comics. See, the movie doesn't get into the Emotional Entities. In the movie, Parallax was a former Guardian who tried to harness the Yellow Light and simply became corrupted by it. I suppose, if the movies had continued into a franchise, as planned, they MIGHT have revealed that Parallax was a separate entity who had possessed the Guardian. But that never materialized, so what we got is what we got.
As for Parallax, himself, well, some Emotional Entities will merely seek to support their host, others to control them. Parallax is most definitely the latter. But he can only REALLY control you if you're his host. The situation with being the "Yellow Impurity" inside the Central Battery wasn't so much that he was CONTROLLING the other Green Lanterns, but rather, manipulating the fears that all Green Lanterns possess to simply direct them, as living weapons. To aim them, if you will.
Well, again, I don't know who this "Jeff" person is, OR what creepypastas is, so...
Ah, Violet. Well, it's true that the Star Sapphires don't enjoy the most stellar reputation. First, a bit more of a history lesson. As it turns out, the Guardians weren't the only inhabitants of Oa. They once shared the planet with two other beings, the Zamorans and the Controllers. I'll get into the Controllers later, because right now, it's the Zamorans we want to focus on. The Zamorans wanted to create their own team, intended to work alongside the Green Lantern Corps, because they didn't agree with the Guardians antiseptic view to enforcing justice. Willpower is all fine and well, but to the Zamorans, unless used in concert with a true force for good, like love, how can they be expected to do follow what's right? Thus, the Star Sapphires were created.
The Zamorans initial intent was for each Star Sapphire to be the mate for the Green Lantern of the corresponding Sector. However, the Guardians rejected this idea. Because Love, like Hate, is on the farthest end of the emotional spectrum, it is far too unstable to control, as the Zamorans believed. And as it turns out, the Guardians were right, as most of the Star Sapphires ended up going bad (aka. BAT-SH*BEEP!*T CRAZY!). In one instance, a Star Sapphire ended up murdering the Green Lantern Katma Tui, who was also the wife of fellow Green Lantern, John Stewart.
But no matter how many times, they failed, the Zamorans kept on trying, staying true to Albert Einstein's definition of insanity...doing the same thing over again, expecting a different result. For the longest time, they tried arming the Star Sapphires with special crystals. But recently, they took it upon themselves to finally follow the Guardians lead, by forging their own rings and batteries. But even then, the Violet light of Love, like the Red Light of Rage, tends to hold sway over the Sapphire members and override their judgement. Of course, that is perhaps the Zamorans intention, so as to ensure that the Star Sapphires are kept under control and obey their orders. The Star Sapphire rings even go out of their way to seek out those who have "great loneliness in their heart". It's even reflected in the oath they created...
"For hearts long lost,
And full of fright,
For those alone,
In Blackest Night,
Accept our ring,
And join our fight,
Love conquers all,
With violet light."
However, there have been a couple Star Sapphires who have been able to resist the Violet Light's sway. First and foremost, is Hal Jordan's girlfriend, Carol Ferris. Having been turned into a Star Sapphire several times before by the Zamorans (none of which ended well), she has built up a certain resistance to the Violet light's influence. Of course, it may also have something to do with the fact, that unlike the rest of the Star Sapphires, who were RECRUITED when the Zamorans switched from Crystals to Rings, Carol was actually ASKED to come back. But since returning to the Star Sapphires, Carol has blazed her own trail and made quite a few leaps to avoid the same pitfalls the Zamorans have constantly fallen into in the past. Not only was she able to tame the Predator (the Violet Entity of Love). But when the Zamorans tried to use the Predator as a power source for their Central Power Battery after it was destroyed (I won't get into how that happened because we'll end up drifting off-topic), Carol spoke out against them, stating that they don't need to supply their central battery with a power source. The Guardians are able to keep their battery running through Will, not because of anything external, but because they simply believe in the power they harness. Realizing through her words that Carol may have a deeper understanding of true love than the Zamorans ever did, Queen Aga'Po (who had given her life force to keep the destroyed central power battery functioning) made it her dying decree that Carol Ferris was to become the new Queen of the Star Sapphires, in hope that she might finally lead both them - and the Zamorans - down the path they had always meant to go but could never manage to find.
One other Star Sapphire who has managed to keep her head, in spite of the Violet light, is known as Miri Riam. Since her recruitment, she has fast become one of the most prominent Star Sapphires, second only to Carol Ferris. Miri's origin is actually quite ironic in that the circumstances that made her a Star Sapphire could have just as easily pushed her the other way and made her a Red Lantern instead. Miri was visited by a Violet ring early on, after her husband was murdered on their honeymoon during the initial invasion of Sinestro Corps. Sensing her loss, the Violet ring came to Miri and turned her into a Star Sapphire. With the Violet light filling the hole in her heart, Miri has made it her personal mission to defend true love wherever it is in danger. Another thing that makes Miri stand apart from the other Star Sapphires is that her uniform is actually quite a bit more "conservative" than her fellow Sapphires (compare pictures and see for yourself).
Like most of the Lanterns, The Star Sapphires are able to form constructs and force fields with their rings. Their constructs, however, take on a crystalline structure (sort of a throwback to the old crystals the Zamorans used to use to arm the Sapphires with). One thing the Star Sapphire rings CAN do, however, is actually bring people back from the dead (if that someone dies as a result of unnatural causes and if they have a true love). When Green Lantern, Kyle Rayner, was killed in front of his teammate and lover, Soranik Natu (the current standard-bearer of Green Lantern hotness these days, as well as Sinestro's daughter...doesn't THAT screw everything up?), Miri Riam appeared after sensing their their dying love. With the power of her ring, Miri used Kyle and Soranik's love to create a bond between them, ultimately causing their two hearts to beat as one and bringing Kyle back to life. Now, as long as Soranik lives, Kyle lives as well. Of course, DC Comics rebooted their universe and essentially erased all that, but I digress...
For a little more intel, here are a few short videos. You'll find that in the animated series, the Star Sapphires don't actually deviate too much from their comic book counterparts...
www.youtube.com/watch?v=4yjWoK…
www.youtube.com/watch?v=T1qUcB…
www.youtube.com/watch?v=53BF9B…
Still, as you can see, the Star Sapphires are hardly the worst of the worst. The truth of the matter is, more often than not, they're simply misguided. In fact, a few of them (such as the former Sinestro Corps member, Fatality), have gone on to actually lead better lives, in the wake of their conversion. If you'd like to know about the actual WORST of the worst, I'll be getting to that.

oh, ok.
True, it was just a thought.
lol, it is insane. Though, I thought the insane ones were the red guys for a while.
Ok now I understand the differences.
Oh wait, didn't Parallax captured someone in the film? And he was stuck inside him?
creepypastas are scary stories that can be a hoax, or even true. I mostly don't read them because I'm scared that some might be true.
Oh, cool.
Oh crap, forget what I said about being cool, that's sick. Kind of reminds me about this one quote from a game: "Love is as real a force as gravity. Try it once in a while."
Oh so they are about love. I have a question (I apologise if this sounds sexist) Are there also gay violet people too? Or is gay relationships not part of the law???
Well damn, that's deep.
That's sad, but quite an interesting love story.
Force fields and revive people? So they are like a defence/support character?
Nice clips, I liked the last one the most because the lady speaks the truth. Love is about sacrificing yourself for those you love.
Their not it? Let me guess again... Orange? Is it orange? Cuz that baboon/dino looking guy that you drew looks like he might have a spooky story.
Also, maybe I can fit to be a violet lantern? But then again, I don't think infatuation is part of their law. But THEN AGAIN, I love my celebrities to death that if I lose one again, I would feel completely depressed. I care so much for them.

Well, the Red Lanterns are technically insane, as the Red Light makes them that way. Think of it as tantamount to a psychotic break that they can't recover from. Although as I said, if you read Dex-Starr's origin story, you discover that his Ring has actually managed to give him a simple, rudimentary form of intelligence, which makes his appearance on the panels of the final page especially heartbreaking as he weeps for the loss of his owner while his ring gives words to his thoughts...
"I find one who hurt you..."
"...I kill..."
"...I good kitty."
Well, again, in the film, Parallax was a Guardian who was simply corrupted by the Yellow Light. Again, they might have gotten into into Parallax as an Entity if the future films had materialized, but that never happened. So he never really "possessed" anyone. Unless you're talking about Hector Hammond, where the movie gave him his powers as a result of exposure to the Yellow.
Well, that's not a bad quote. Kind of goes hand in hand with the classic line, "'Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all" (which is absolutely true, I can tell you from experience). But anytime someone has any confusion or debate about the concept of love, I always find myself going back to that bit of dialogue from "The Matrix Revolutions"...
"It is a human emotion."
"No, it is a WORD. What MATTERS is the connection the word IMPLIES."
Now, as for any "gay" Star Sapphires, well, I won't say that your question is sexist, because you have to understand, the Star Sapphires have been around since the 1940s, which was still a pretty sexist time. In fact, when you look at the animated series, you see that the Zamorans are more akin to their first incarnation from back then...that being, they would use the Star Sapphires to seduce and ultimately imprison any males they encountered, because they viewed men as the cause of all the universe's ills (most likely a mindset brought on by the fact that all the Zamorans are female, so...). Even now, they haven't really deviated from those beginnings, as all the Star Sapphires remain female. So to this day, there has never been a male Star Sapphire. Also, we're only just recently being introduced to the concept of comic book characters who are openly homosexual. So while there are no homosexual Star Sapphires, that's not to say it could never happen. But having said that, it still might not happen for quite some time, and only if someone cared enough about it to actually CREATE one.
Which part of my last message did you consider deep? Sorry, but I like to reply properly.
As for the "interesting love story", are you talking about Miri Riam? Because she is interesting in the fact that, like I said, she could have easily been brought over to the Red Lantern Corps as well. I think the reason a Star Sapphire Ring came to her first was because of her mindset at that moment. With her husband already dead and their ship decompressing in space, her thoughts weren't of anything even close to revenge. At that moment, all she REALLY wanted was to die by his side, because the thought of living without him was too painful for her to endure.
Well, I suppose you could call the Star Sapphires a support team, as their current objective is to basically defend Love wherever it is in danger.
As for the clips, glad you liked them. Yeah, Carol's had a bit of experience when it comes to matters of the heart, the ups AND the downs.
As for your question, well, the Violet Light of Love is intended to be beautiful, but you see how easily that Light can be turned against itself. Case in point with the Violet Entity of Love, The Predator, which seeks out hosts who feel love. But as Carol discovers in the comics, The Predator doesn't fully understand the very emotion it's supposed to represent. What it perceives as love isn't always such. Sometimes it can be something as petty as mere infatuation or physical desire. As a result, The Predator's actions can be every bit as corrupted by the host's tainted views on love as the host's actions can be tainted by The Predator's possession of them.
Well, since you asked about the Orange Light, I guess I'll get started on Agent Orange, then. Believe it or not, all the power of the orange light is contained within one simple, tiny power battery and one ring. As I mentioned before, the Orange Light is the light of Greed, so it's no surprise that there would be only one being to wield it. Unlike all the others, this is not a light to be shared by ANYONE.
In this case, the keeper of the orange light is a being known as Larfleeze, aka. Agent Orange (oop, time for another history lesson). When we're first introduced to him, it's still in the Guardian's Manhunter days, many eons ago. Larfleeze is the leader of a band of thieves who had pulled a robbery on Oa itself. Larfleeze chose the target for one item in particular...a box that was said to be worth the price of an entire star system to anyone who could get their hands on it.
Naturally, the Manhunters intervened, killing a member of Larfleeze's team before they got off world. After their escape, the thieves discovered that among their loot was a map to an object of power on a planet called Okaara, in the Vega system of Sector 2828. After a perilous journey through what was known as the Forbidden Forest of Weeds (which claimed the life of another of Larfleeze's cohorts), the three surviving members of the team found their way to a buried cave, where inside, they discovered the Orange Battery.
The instant they touched it, all three of them came under the thrall of the Orange Light and began to fight amongst themselves for control of the Battery. At that moment, the Guardians attacked, along with a platoon of Manhunters. But the conflict between Larfleeze and the others caused power fluctuations in the Battery so strong that it killed not only one of the remaining thieves, but also obliterated all of the Manhunters and even several Guardians. Realizing that even their power was no match for the Orange Light, the Guardians struck a deal with Larfleeze and his sole remaining partner. In exchange for the box they stole, the owner of the Orange Battery would have the entire Vega System for their very own. The Guardians would revoke all jurisdiction to the System and leave them in peace. The only condition was that only one of them would be allowed to keep the Battery. Larfleeze's back story then ends with two simple words...
"I won."
Until recently, the treaty has stood very tenuously and probably would have still...had it not been for the Controllers. As I mentioned earlier, the Controllers once inhabited Oa, as did the Zamorans. However, the Controllers wanted much more than to co-exist with the Guardians. They wanted to BE the Guardians. But after several failed attempts at creating their own knockoffs of the Green Lantern Corps (each time being met with failure and defeat), the Controllers finally decided to seek out their own light and form their own Corps. Their search brought them to Okaara, where they found Larfleeze's cave and the Orange Battery inside, which they promptly attempted to take for themselves. Let's just say they didn't live long enough to regret their decision.
Since the Controllers were originally from Oa, Larfleeze accused the Guardians of violated the treaty and it has since been rescinded. Since that time, Larfleeze has been out there (mostly on earth), generally wreaking havoc. Larfleeze himself, however, is a being of many contradictions. Where first he appeared as a genuinely menacing creature, he's since been retooled into a character more for goofy comic relief. That, to me, is kind of disappointing, since I thought Larfleeze was a lot cooler when they played him straight. However, tiny little snippets of Larfleeze's true past have gradually been bubbling to the surface, revealing a deeply tragic figure, an early life of slavery and the one thing he truly wants more than anything else, but fears he will never have...to be reunited with his family. It's even been suggested that Larfleeze isn't actually his TRUE name.
Now, as for the Orange Light, itself, it's quite an interesting color, to be sure. First of all, the Battery itself has a great sway over whoever holds it (Greed isn't quite as far on the emotional Spectrum as Love or Hate, but it's still far enough to influence your better judgement). Whenever you hold the Battery, it takes everything you might have even the tiniest amount of desire for and pushes that want all the way to the Nth degree. This is especially true with Larfleeze, who, under the Orange Light's influence basically wants at least one of everything he's never owned before (anything he hears about for the first time, he instantly wants).
As for the Orange Light itself, Like most other Lantern Corps, it can form solid constructs. Larfleeze, however, shapes his constructs into the likenesses of those he's killed over the millennia, as his own personal Corps. The way the Orange Light works is that it consumes the bodies of the people it kills, then converts what it consumes into more light. And over the eons, quite a few people have been foolish enough to enter Larfleeze's domain, only to become food for his Light. Powered by the Orange Light, his "Corps" is quite powerful, especially since it has the ability to consume the constructs and energy of other Lanterns. Also, since they're technically not alive, they can't be killed, so ultimately, the only way to defeat the Larfleeze's Corps is to defeat Larfleeze himself. Something that is just a little bit more than a challenge, as long as he's holding his Battery. And as Larfleeze once said to the Guardians...
"I have saved MY power for EONS where you have given yours AWAY. I have PLENTY more than YOU."
One other thing, you might have noticed by now that I haven't mentioned an oath for the Orange Light, either. And there's a simple reason for that. Unlike the other Lanterns, the Orange doesn't HAVE one. Which makes a certain amount of sense, if you think about it. After all, to give an oath is to basically swear allegiance to something other than yourself. And for anyone who possesses the Orange Light, there's simply no such thing. Even the members of Larfleeze's Corps, which are simply mindless constructs, generally only say one simple word...
"Mine."
That being said, hard to say they're the worst if they can't think, right? Granted, most of these beings were considered the most avaricious and insatiable beings in the entire universe, but that was before they met Larfleeze...

Damn, Dex-Starr seriously wants revenge doesn't he? The more I think about it, the more I feel he might be this "Fritz the Cat" kind of character. That's spooky.
Really? I remember seeing commercials back in the day where they showed a Parallax figure catching someone in his stomach. This was around the movie days of course.
Oh f*** ya I love the Matrix. Though, I haven't seen those movies in a damn long time.
They view men as all their problems? Damn that's sexist. But ya, I wouldn't be surprised if they made a gay Star Sapphire. After all, I've heard quite a lot of LGBT comic characters as of now. Deadpool being Pansexual and Harley Quinn being Bisexual, it's like it's common now a days (Which is not a bad thing, I have nothing against LGBT people.)
I thought the whole thing about Carol Ferris was deep. Like she's been in some deep s*** that now she HAS to be a star sapphire.
I was mostly referring to the fact that the violets in general have an interesting love story. I mean after all, they are about love right? They all must have interesting love stories. As for Miri Riam, I generally feel sorry for her. I wish I could be with my loved ones. It's hard to life without them.
True.
Well, she must have been through it all. I guess you can say that she knows the "Power of Love" (Not to be confused with the song by Deee-lite, but the power of love in general)
Oh, so I guess that violet is one of the weakest lights since it has so much cons against it.
Agent Orange is that animal character from the comics, right? Because when I typed in "Agent Orange" by itself... I found something disturbing and not relating to the comics at all. Trust me, you do not want to see what I just saw! O_O
Larfleeze? Sounds like a cool name. And I'm not surprised he's a thief.
Damn.
I won? Damn, why do those 2 words sound so meaningful all of a sudden?
Wow, this story is actually pretty good so far!
O_O.... Now I feel bad for Larfleeze.
Ouch, must be like a sickness if he wants everything.
I have an idea, if everyone is bait for the orange light, why can't everyone and everything just avoid Larfleeze so he has nothing to take???
Mine? Wait so is Larfleeze's whole group just the seagulls from Finding Nemo???
Well crap. What about indigo? Isn't that the only ones left from the regular lantern scale?

Well, Fritz the Cat had his own issues. Dext-Starr is a completely different case.
Huh...I remember seeing no such figure, so I can't really comment.
As for the Matrix, well, I like them, too. But honestly, the original movie, to date, is still my favorite of the three. I mean, from a production standpoint, were "The Matrix Reloaded" and "The Matrix Revolutions" better than the original? Yes. From a NARRATIVE standpoint, were "Reloaded" and "Revolutions" better than the original?
No. ABSOLUTELY not. In fact, as far as "Revolutions" goes, I only thought the first half hour and the last half hour were the only parts of that movie worth watching.
At this point, I could go off on a whole tangent about movie trilogies, but I think it would be best to keep my focus right now and circle back to that later.
Well, I don't know what "pansexual" is, but Harley being bisexual is something I could see. But again, while a homosexual Star Sapphire is not out of the question, again, it all boils down to whether one of the Green Lantern writers actually cares enough to make one.
Well, Carol doesn't HAVE to be a Star Sapphire. More often than not, I've observed that she tends to remain in that role mostly because it gives her a connection to Hal.
As for the Star Sapphires, themselves, it's not always about a love story. One such case is the woman known as Fatality. After John Stewart accidentally destroyed her home planet (she was off world, engaged in her culture's coming-of-age tradition of training to become a warrior when it happened), Fatality took it upon herself to seek revenge on all Green Lanterns in general and John in specific. She even joined up with the Sinestro Corps because it gave her free reign to kill all the Green Lanterns she wanted. But as I mentioned before, when Sinestro was defeated, the Zamorans captured the female Sinestro Corps members, in an effort to convert them all into Star Sapphires. Sinestro and the Corps eventually led a raid to Zamora to get them back and managed to free most of them. However, Fatality was one of the few who was converted beforehand. The Violet light of Love finally managed to ease her guilt (her anger towards John and the other Green Lanterns apparently stemmed from her guilt at not being able to die with her people) and she has since found a new purpose.
To that end, I wouldn't go so far as to say that the Violet Light is the weakest. Like all the Colors of the Emotional Spectrum, it's only as strong as the individual who wields it.
As for Agent Orange, yeah, you're better off only googling that alongside Green Lantern or just going with Larfleeze. Sorry if I ended up misleading you.
As for Larfleeze, himself, it's easy to feel sorry for him, but don't feel TOO sorry. While the Orange Light does hold sway over him, there IS a point where he apparently gives it up. But it isn't long before he ends up taking it back, not because of the Orange Light's influence, but because it's simply his nature.
As for simply avoiding Larfleeze so his Light has nothing more to consume, well, that sounds perfectly logical on the face of it, but it's much harder than it sounds. As I said, all the beings Larfleeze has killed and converted into his "Corps", remember that these were some of the most gluttonous and insatiable beings in the entire universe, who were all instinctively drawn to the Orange Light, simply out of their desire for more. Take the creature known as Blume, for example, a giant floating head who terrorized countless planets and civilizations, with the demand that he be paid tribute in order to let them all live. He actually considered himself a god until Larfleeze made short work of him.
As for the seagulls from Finding Nemo, I really couldn't say.
Well, I think the Indigo Tribe is the only one of the Main Lantern Corps we haven't discussed yet, so best to get to it.
As you know, the Indigo Light is the Light of Compassion. A trait that is clearly reflected in the power their Light possesses. While each member of the Tribe does possess a ring which can do pretty much what all the other Lantern Rings can do, their TRUE power lies in the staffs they carry, which are actually able to absorb the Light from any other Lantern and use that Light as their own. So, simply put, the Indigo Tribe is potentially every single Corps. There's a certain logic in this ability, as the Indigo light of Compassion is meant to embrace togetherness, peace and goodwill.
However, the purpose of the Indigo Light is also reflected in the Tribe's behavior as well. The Indigo Tribe share a mysterious language, known only to them and incapable of being translated, even by other Lantern Rings (members of the tribe CAN communicate verbally with you, but only if they believe you're worth talking to). This indicates that the Tribe shares a Hive Mind mentality. There's virtually no individuality within the Tribe at all.
The reason for this is because the Indigo Tribe is also unique in one other respect. Unlike all the other Lanterns, whose Corpsmen receive their rings because they embody the emotion they're meant to represent, the Indigo Tribe receive their rings for the exact opposite reason. Put simply, members of the Tribe aren't selected because they FEEL compassion. They're selected because they DON'T. Ergo, the Indigo Tribe is comprised entirely of the most heartless, unfeeling sociopaths in the entire universe. In other words, let me put it to you this way...if the Sinestro Corps consists of the Freddy Kruegers of the universe, then THESE guys are the Hannibal Lectors.
There IS a reason for this particular selection and for that, we have to look to the co-founder of the Indigo Tribe...Hal Jordan's predecessor, Abin Sur. Before founding the Red Lanterns, Atrocitus used a technique that showed Abin a vision of the future, shortly before his death. And what he saw was the Guardians descending into madness and tyranny as they feared their authority in the universe was in danger of be usurped. A fear which would ultimately take hold when Hal Jordan killed the renegade Guardian, Krona...something that should have been impossible for ANY Green Lantern to do.
Realizing the Guardians would be too powerful to fight directly if this prophecy came to pass, Abin sought to head off this metamorphosis by using the power of the Indigo Light, in the hopes that if the Guardians were infused with compassion, they would abandon their ambitions. Abin first discovered the Indigo power when a mission took him to the Planet Nok, which was completely saturated with its Light. With the aid of Natromo, one of the planet's indigenous people, Abin harnessed the light from the planet's core and forged the Indigo Central Battery. From there, the members of the Tribe were chosen, not only to have a Corps for Abin to lead, but also as a dry run, to test the extent of the Indigo Light's power against the absolute worst of the worst before ultimately using it on the Guardians. Because if the Indigo Light can sway THEM, it can sway ANYBODY.
Abin's first recruit into the Tribe...Iroque, a longtime enemy of Abin's who also murdered his daughter. Speculation suggests that this decision was made by Abin primarily to punish Iroque for the anguish she caused him. But as the Indigo Light causes her to react to her wicked past with sorrow and regret, the act not only brings Abin closure for his daughter, but also brings other intentions for the Tribe into focus. Taking Iroque's example to its logical extension, he makes it the Tribe's secondary mission to seek out the most wicked and irredeemable beings in the universe and use the rings to convert them into a positive force.
When he learns of Abin Sur's death, Natromo loses hope and destroys the Central Power Battery, believing that the Tribe's mission to redeem the Guardians can't possibly succeed without Abin to lead them. This reverts the Tribe back into the emotionless monsters they once were, none of whom are very happy over having been manipulated by the Light for so long, forcing them to feel things none of them ever wanted to feel...
...However, Iroque was angry for a different reason.
While Hal manages to convince Natromo to continue the Tribe in Abin's name, the Indigo Light of the Central Battery has already been lost and according to Natromo, it took weeks for him and Abin to gather enough of it to construct the Battery the first time. But then, Iroque appears, begging him to try. Unlike the rest of her Tribesmen, Iroque was truly reformed by her time in the Indigo Tribe and has no desire to return to the unfeeling creature she once was. The genuine compassion in her heart independently powers her ring, generating enough light for Natromo to reconstruct the Central Battery and the Indigo Tribe is instantly reborn.
In Geoff John's final Green Lantern issue, where he reveals the future of all the Green Lantern characters, Iroque is revealed to remain a member of the Indigo Tribe, even after willingly forfeiting her ring, and becomes known as "Iroque the Redeemer". She even thanks Abin Sur for the new life she's been granted.
At this point, I guess I'll close this out by showing you the Indigo Tribe oath. Don't expect to understand it, since it's in the Tribe's own language. But I showed you all the others. And besides, if you look carefully, you might see something interesting...
"Tor lorek san,
Bor nakka mur,
Natromo faan,
Tornek wot ur,
Ter Lantern ker,
Lo Abin Sur,
Taan lek lek nok
Formorrow sur!"

Welp, one thing is for sure, both are not for kids.
Really? I'm talking about this one: www.entertainmentearth.com/ima…
I remember seeing it everywhere in Wal-Mart and ToysRus after the movie was out.
I agree with your opinion. The original is the best one. I somehow felt that the other 2 were just "cash-ins of the series" Though beware, I heard rumours of a 4th one coming out in 2017. No joke. But ya, we should go back to our talk about Green Lantern and talk about the Matrix later.
Pansexual is when you don't care about who's what gender or gender identity. You're open to ANYTHING: boys, girls, gays, trans, unisex, etc. I've seen a petition online that wants Deadpool to have a boyfriend in the squeal. And I think it reached it's goal by now. For Harley Quinn, she does have that strong relationship with Poison Ivy and the Joker, so there's no denying that she's bi. As for a S.S. gay person, I think they should wait a little while because of what happened in Orlando not too long ago, but that's just me.
Oh ok.
Oh, well it's still interesting that violet doesn't always has to be love.
I see what you mean.
It's ok, It's not the most disturbing stuff on the internet, I've seen quite more "deadly" stuff on the internet in my time... and still do...
Oh, That sucks to hear. You think you know a guy... or ape... seriously what animal is Larfleeze based off of???
Oh, I see now.
oh.
Damn, Indigo sounds over-powered.
Wow, they sound quite interesting so far.
Oh crap, sounds kind of confusing at first about how they get the ring oppositely, but if you put it THAT way... then for some reason that sounds bada$$.
Abin Sur... sounds familiar, wasn't him in the film???
Oh crap, Indigo IS over powered. Would the Indigo powers be "nerfed" in future comics after it was introduced?
Damn, that's quite insane. O_O
Ouch, that's sad.
That's pretty cool.
Damn, I guess you could say it's a happy ending.
Something interesting eh? Hmm... I honestly can't see or understand anything. As Patrick would say "I don't get it". Please explain .

That's true. They are, neither one, kid-friendly kitties, that's for sure.
Oooohhhhh, THAT figure. Yeah, I VAGUELY recall seeing that figure around for all of five minutes. Truth be told, the movie figures really weren't that big of a deal, primarily because the MOVIE wasn't that big of a deal.
Yeah, it's fair to say that "The Matrix Reloaded" and "The Matrix Revolutions" were just a cash-in of the first film. I mean, I WANT to say that "Reloaded" is my favorite of the three, but realistically, I just CAN'T, because it ties into the whole narrative quagmire of "Revolutions", which, ultimately, just didn't make a LICK of sense. I mean, people can CLAIM that it was a story being told on such an evolved level that it just flew right over the heads of the common man, but I think anyone who says that is just fooling themselves.
The truth is, I honestly don't think even the WACHOWSKIS knew how they ultimately wanted this whole thing to end. They MIGHT have, if they hadn't agreed to make the sequels so quickly and had taken the time to actually THINK about what they wanted to do and where they wanted to go. But they'd already signed the papers and taken the money, so they had to put out SOMETHING. And that "something" ended up not really being much of ANYTHING. So if what you said is true and there IS a fourth movie coming down the pike, it sounds to me like they're trying to make up for that failure. They knew they didn't like where "Revolutions" ended up, they knew no one else was going to to like where "Revolutions" ended up, so now they're like, "Okay guys, now that we've THOUGHT about it, we actually HAVE an idea now", and they're just trying to make good at this point.
Moving right along (and just to segue into this), it's been my observation that there are three basic types of movie trilogies. "The Matrix" belongs to the category where the second movie sets the bar so high, that realistically, there's nowhere to GO but down. We saw this with the original Star Wars Trilogy and we saw it with the Dark Knight Trilogy as well.
Another type of movie trilogy is where the original movie does well, so they make a sequel. The sequel BOMBS, primarily because it either betrayed the spirit of the first film or was just too busy riding the original movie's coattails. So a third movie is made to compensate for it. We saw this with the "Men in Black" trilogy and we saw this with "Ocean's" trilogy as well (Ocean's 11, Ocean's 12 and Ocean's 13). In fact, after "Ocean's 12" fell flat, according to Brad Pitt, they actually had a nickname for "Ocean's 13" on the set when they were filming. They called it, "Ocean's The-Way-We-SHOULD-Have-Done-It-The-LAST-Time". ^_^
And then you have trilogies, where the first two movies are consistently good, but then the THIRD one falls flat, primarily because the guy who directed the first two films, the guy who actually had the ORIGINAL vision, forfeited the Director's chair. We saw it when Steven Spielberg left Jurassic Park, we saw it when Jon Favreau stepped down from Iron Man. And we saw it when Bryan Singer walked away from X-Men to do his own little vanity project in "Superman Returns", which, ITSELF, was a steaming pile. So when he came back to do "X-Men: Days of Future Past" it was basically his way of atoning for that sin of pride and apologizing to everybody.
"I'm really...really...REALLY...sorry. Honestly, I don't know WHAT I was thinking."
Ah, so THAT'S what that is. Kind of like the decadence of Ancient Rome, where there were no moral or ethical guidelines with regards to sexual activity and people would just screw anyone or any-THING they could get their hands on. But as for the next Deadpool movie, we'll see what happens. I think they're gonna make more money flashing Morena Baccarin's boobs again, but that's just me. But as for other characters, I could see Harley as being bisexual. I actually think Poison Ivy is bisexual as well, but having said that, I think that, while a woman will do in a pinch, she would PREFER being with men, if only because it's just easier for her to be the dominant one with her whole "pheromone" thing. On the Marvel side of things, we have Mystique, who is OPENLY bisexual. And it isn't hard to see why. I mean, since her powers cause her to LITERALLY swap genders at will, it would be virtually impossible for her to NOT be bisexual.
As for that whole nightclub shooting, I don't think that's a reason to shy away from homosexuality at all. Because that really wasn't the issue, when you think about it. I mean, yes, the shooter was gay, but that wasn't the problem. The problem was, he was a raving horn dog who couldn't keep it in his pants. So he slept around with everyone he met and when he found out he contracted AIDS because of it, he blamed everyone but himself. And it's straight out of an old episode of "Law & Order". This was a heterosexual guy, but again, he couldn't keep it in his pants and slept around. And when he got AIDS, instead of taking responsibility for it, he decided he was going to get his revenge by infecting as many women as he could before he died. So if you want to take these examples as a warning to shy away from anything, make it sexual promiscuity, not sexual orientation.
Moving right along, well, with a lot of the Star Sapphires, it has more to do with something they've LOST than something they HAVE. The Violet Light is basically meant to fill whatever hole in their heart has been made by that loss. But that can become a positive or a negative.
As for Larfleeze, well, apparently, his home planet is named Ogatoo, but we know little else beyond that (other than the fact that Hal views him as a cross between a wild boar and Gonzo from the Muppets).
As for the Indigo Tribe, well, their ability to use all the other Lights in the Emotional Spectrum may make them SEEM overpowered, but you have to bear in mind, they can only use what they absorb. Once it's gone, that's all they get, until they absorb more. So they really can't use it any more than once or twice.
Abin Sur was the previous Green Lantern of Sector 2814. After his death, his Ring went to Hal Jordan. So yes, he was in the movie. He's basically appeared in every Green Lantern origin story because he has to die in order for the Green Lantern of Earth to be created.
But as for Iroque, yes, despite everything that transpired between her and Abin in the past, you could call it a happy ending of sorts. In fact, I think when it's all said and done, Abin Sur is the only man she truly loves, because even if it was the absolute last thing he had on his mind, the truth is, he saved her life when he converted her to the Tribe.
As for the oath, I thought maybe you'd notice that it mentions Abin Sur by name, that's all.

Ya.
Really? I've seen this thing EVERYWHERE! No joke.
I agree with you. I just always go with the first one of ANYTHING because most of the time, the original is always the best film.
Oh, I've watched a video from the Nostalgia Critic not to long ago that explains some of the downfalls of some directors. The Matrix part starts at 3:10 but you should watch the whole vid because NC makes a lot of good points: youtu.be/HbL0jIl-NY8
Also a little thing to add... Wachow"ski"s.... Umm... are they Polish? Not that there's anything wrong with it. I mean, I'm Polish too, but, did my blood seriously went downhill in the movie industry??? Seriously, have you seen newer Wachowski films? (SPOILERS: THE NEW ONES ARE S***)
Oh damn, I see what you mean by that point. I've actually just realised that with Star Wars! O_O
"Ocean's 13"... Did they seriously make 13 of those films? And I thought the Police Academy films got too many squeals, but that's just ridiculous! What number are we up to now? Ocean 21, 69, or 420????
I agree with you there. I thought Jurassic Park 3 seemed odd.
Whoa, they did that in Ancient Roam? Why? Were they directing Eye's Wide Shut??? Well, Deadpool was a huge success. Maybe the 2nd film would be better just like what Finding Dory did? Damn, I'm actually amazed at how much bi comic book characters there are.
THE SHOOTER WAS GAY??? I thought he was homophobic? Wow, so he was basically a human version of Alfred Alfer??? Holy f***. Welp, that makes me look at this situation more differently. Lucky for me, I'm only attracted to "Androgynous male celebrities from the 80s" so you won't catch me sleeping with a normal male (Whether that's a good or bad thing, it's all to the person perspective). But seriously, the shoot was a living virus if he wanted everyone to have AIDS. Very disrespectful.
Oh, so they DO ONLY come if you're heart broken? They must be cupids.
Boar? Gonzo? Somehow that mix works out! O_O
Oh ok.
Oh damn, ok.
Lol, I ship that!
OH! Now I get it! Thanks for pointing that out!

Well, I haven't seen it everywhere.
Very true. There are only a handful of movies where the sequel topped the original.
Haven't seen any of the new Wachowski movies. The very last one I saw from them was V for Vendetta, which I actually thought was pretty good.
No, they did not make 13 of those films. The movie, "Ocean's 11", is about this group of guys who set up robbing a Las Vegas casino. There are 11 guys in the group and the leader is named Danny Ocean, hence the title. It's actually a reboot of an old Frank Sinatra film from the 60s, that he made with his old "Rat Pack" buddies. The subsequent films, "Oceans 12" and "Ocean's 13" were entitled not only to indicate that they were sequels, but also because, as the capers grew bigger, so did the crew.
Personally, I would recommend "Ocean's 11" and "Ocean's 13", because both movies are smart, cool and a lot of fun. "Ocean's 12", I would only suggest you watch because it introduces characters and situations that, unless you become familiar with them, won't make sense to you when they come back around in "Ocean's 13". The main problem I had with "Ocean's 12" is that while "Ocean's 11" and "Ocean's 13" don't reveal EVERYTHING that they're doing, you still feel like you're actually IN ON the scam with the rest of the crew. With "Ocean's 12", however, it kind of felt like you were the one BEING scammed, so the experience wasn't as much fun.
Well, the thing with "Jurassic Park 3" is that it was basically cobbled together from all the scenes in the Micheal Crichton novels that never made it into the first two films. So it was the Hollywood version of a patchwork quilt.
Well, that was ultimately what led to the Roman Empire's downfall. They became victims of their own decadence. That's why, when you look at the US during the 80s and early 90s, you can see why some people believed they would share the same fate. If you look at movies like the original "Robocop" or "American Psycho", granted, both those movies take the vision of American corporate bigwigs to a parodying extreme. But the truth is, that really WAS the mentality of 1980s Wall Street. As long as you were rich, white and male, the rules just didn't apply to you. Because the rules didn't EXIST.
As for comic book characters, well, more and more of them are coming out as openly homosexual, too. Among them, characters like Batwoman and her lover, Renee Montoya (who was first introduced in "Batman: The Animated Series").
Oh yeah, no...the guy was gay. It had nothing to do with being a terrorist thing. He just wanted everyone to THINK it was a terrorist thing because he didn't want his TRUE motivation to be revealed. It was too petty and embarrassing.
Well, it's more like the Star Sapphire Rings try to make YOU into Cupid, but...
Yeah, it IS a pretty good comparison to make. Especially when they start making him less menacing and more goofy.
Well, you may ship it, but I wouldn't count on it. Even if Abin Sur were alive today, despite the fact that he and Iroque made their peace with each other a long time ago, there's just no way he could have EVER become romantically involved with the woman who murdered his daughter. That being said, I do have a COUPLE of scenes in mind for my Green Lantern: TAS fanfics that would delve into Iroque's feelings for him.
No problem. That's what I'm here for.
in the meantime, you might want to check out this video. Gives you a little more intel into Razer and Aya, if you're interested...

Oh. :/
Exactly!
Oh thank goodness, because trust me, the newer ones suck. NC Critic did some good reviews if you ever wonder how bad they are.
Oh, that actually makes so much sense now.
Oh, ok. Well, maybe if I have time, I could try to check the first one out.
I never knew that, but thanks.
Oh no, that's just scary. I don't know if I want to go to the 80s anymore if they invented time travel.
Batwoman is bi too? I never knew that as well, damn.
Wait, what? Isn't being a terrorist worse than being gay? (Sorry if this is an offensive comment.)
Oh, I git it mixed up.
Really, lol I actually want to see that.
Oh
Cool. I ship them, but at the same time I feel bad for them. They went through so much.

Well, I'm glad "Ocean's 11" makes more sense to you now. But remember to check out the current one, if for no other reason than, in the original movie, The Danny Ocean that Frank Sinatra plays, he's not the charismatic, lovable rogue that George Clooney's Danny Ocean is. In the 60s film, Sinatra's Danny Ocean is basically just a selfish prick who plans this casino heist with a bunch of old army buddies because to him, it's easy money and because he honestly believes he can get away with it. Clooney's Danny Ocean is a bit of an easier pill to swallow.
No problem with the Jurassic Park intel.
Well, I didn't mean to dash any hopes you had about that period of time. Truth is, if you were middle class, this wasn't even an issue for you because you were getting by well enough that you didn't even think about anyone above you. But yeah, with 1980s Wall Street, it was basically about the rich getting richer. Not that that isn't still the case today, there's just less of a "whoever dies with the most toys wins" mentality than there was then.
Well, Batwoman is full-tilt lesbian, so...
Well, being a terrorist is MUCH worse than being gay. But ultimately, that was the point. When he decided to do this, he wanted to go out looking like a badass on a mission, not like the coward and the fool that he was.
Well, here are a couple of clips you might find interesting...

As for Iroque, well, it's just the reality of the situation. But like I said, I've got a couple of scenes for my fanfics that'll bring those things up. Just like my fanfics are going in some interesting directions with Aya and Razer, too. Directions which these couple of pics have already begun revealing. ^_^

I might. These movies do sound like fun, though, I still got a lot of ideas for drawings I want to do, and I haven't had time to do them because I was busy all week. So maybe after.
yee.
Oh, but did that only apply to the U.S.A. or all of North America?
Really? As a kid I thought she was Batman's girlfriend. Guess I was way off.
Wow, some people are just crazy. I just hope something like this won't happen again.
Yay! Larfleeze! I really like his design in the show. Kind of reminds me of that crazy character from Crash Bandicoot, Dingodile.
Oh, cool.

Well, I know what it's like to be pressed for time. I don't know if I'll be posting something this week, myself, just because my manager pulled a fast one and switched my days around on me, so I've only got one day off to recover from this whole work week. I might end up just doing something REALLY simple, if only to avoid NOT posting something, because if I excuse myself for one week, that's a slippery slope I don't want to start going down again. But yeah, check out the movie when you can. It's not like it's going anywhere.
Well, it was primarily the States that had that problem.
Well, the original 50s Katherine Kane WAS Batman's girlfriend (or at least she professed to being), but in the wake of the Infinite Crisis crossover, she was rebooted as a lesbian. It was kind of out of left field that Renee Montoya became her love interest. Mind you, even though nothing in Batman:TAS was definitively stated (or even implied), if you look back at some of Montoya's mannerisms over the course of the show, it's actually not hard to see her in that light.
Well, everyone hopes something like this won't happen again. But these days, people have become so disillusioned that they now see it as the "cool" way to go out. They think it'll put them out of their misery and make them famous, all at the same time. But they're just cowards...every single one of them.
Well, I'm not all that familiar with Crash Bandicoot, but yeah, that design more or less reflects Larfleeze as he is now. When he first came on the scene and they were playing him straight, he was actually a pretty big guy, roughly the same size as Atrocitus. But once they retooled him into the goofy comic relief he is now, they downgraded his design and turned him into this scrawny little weasel of a thing. And then there's his animated incarnation, who's got the whole "Gollum from Lord of the Rings" thing going on.
Well, I could send you my fanfic ideas, if you'd like. They're pretty extensive, so it would be better if I sent them in a Note (and I still can't promise that you'll understand all of it, because there are some subjects we haven't covered and you still haven't seen a lot of the show). But you can check them out.

Ya, I hate it when that happens, and I'll check it out when I can. By the way, my laptop is busted so I'm not going to be online that often, so if I don't reply to your comments, it's because I have limited access to the internet.
Oh ok.
Hmm... I honestly never noticed that. Maybe because I was a little kid and I didn't know what gay meant at the time.
Exactly! Why can't they be famous the right way? Like what I'm trying to do?
Cool, I kind of like this design. It really reflects his greedy self.
Hmm... I don't know, what if I have no idea what I'm reading than?

That's okay. Get back to me when you can. ^_^
Well, I never considered it either. Mind you, they didn't make Montoya a lesbian right away. I'm just saying that, in retrospect, it wouldn't be hard to see her that way (hindsight being 20-20 and all).
The problem is, someone's got to be out there to see the signs and stop these things before they happen.
Well, that's certainly true. Although his first appearance in the comics definitely underlined how dangerous he could be.
Well, that's why I gave you the option. And I could always explain anything you might not be clear on.

Dangerous? How? He looks like such a cute little Boar!
Hmm... well, I am a bit busy again, so maybe some other time?

TuxedAaron In reply to TheRandomGirlXD [2016-07-18 23:58:18 +0000 UTC]
Well, nobody did. I'm just saying if you look back on it, you can see subtle indicators as to how she could have fit into that role.
Well, it's just, in this post-Columbine world, how can people continue to blatantly ignore the signs. An episode of "The Batman", "Attack of the Terrible Trio", actually made reference to such incidents at one point. An act which, I have to admit, I thought was pretty ballsy at the time, given that the incident was still pretty fresh...
BATGIRL: They're not the "school spirit" types.
BATMAN: What type are they?
BATGIRL: The type no one notices...until it's too late...
Well, if you look at his first appearance in the comics, you wouldn't think that so much.
Well, that and your laptop situation, so I understand. What did you think of the SvtFoE episode, though?

Really?
Oh... I can kind of see it.
Oh...oooooooh. Now he seems kind of spooky. O_O
Ya, no more time for fun. Like I said, that Ep was really cool! One thing I forgot to add. I have a little theory about that Red Belt ep. What if Marco's instructor is actually him from the future? They kind of look the same. Also, in the beginning of the ep, Marco didn't know what to do with his life. Also, his instructor is so lazy with trying to get the VHS for the red belt. Could this be... A TIME PARADOX???
