is the anime good? I haven't watched it yet cus I feel I'll be disappointed if I do. especially since the director said he wanted to go in a completely different direction then the manga

I never read the manga, but I think you should definitely try it out and see :3 I thought the animation quality was nice, some 3d was in it but I thought it fit in ok.

The series is really good and it can get pretty involving, especially the incredible opening that just draws you in from the first point it howls "uninstall"
