Very cool. I hope it turns out like you want it to.

*looks a little jealous* anyway... it's looking good but your reference image isn't proper the outstretched arm should have the palm facing toward the ground not toward the viewer. That is if you're going for proper anatomy... since 3d modeling is done with the body having no twists or bends (which as you know is a prerequisite of animation should you decide to animate this guy later on) and your forearm is twisted when palms are facing as you have them in the orthorgrpahic image hope this helps ya

Thanks for pointing that out. I am not too worried about it, though since the forearm is not the most difficult thing to model, plus I can rotate it and the hand later by selecting just their verticies. At least with a little adjusting. Live and learn i guess. Round two will be smoother I will be animating him as per required in my animation course. Rigging him will not be tough, but making the skin bend correctly will probably not turn out right since I do not know how to add influencing objects yet. I will touch upon that realm next semester.

Is it ultimately going to be a low or high poly model?

What ever looks the best. Once i rough out everything I will see what ther "smooth" tool does and go from there. It will probably be quite a high polygon count in the end. Between 66 and 1,093,475,446.7
