Earliest post ever followed up by the latest post everDay 8! (technically already the 9th's though. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SPYRO!)
I did something quick and easy yesterday in order to get a head start on this idea, cuz I knew it was gonna be a BIG one when it first came to mind. I needed all the help I could get, so while I did each Spyro, Mimi did the entirety of the graphics for me! Thank you boo~
Here we have ALL the generations of Spyro, from the very beginning to current, all variations, from all universes. The idea in mind was to have all the Spyros lined up in video-game-fighter fashion, allowing a "player" to choose their preferred Spyro, reading up on each of their abilities, their game debuts, how long their era was, and other such information. Now if only I knew how to use Flash so I could make this interactive. But! Make due with what you can. :'D
And we're not done yet! Only one more piece to go after this! <3

It's a Spyro free-for-all! Portals are opening from all worlds, all dimensions, all timelines, as legends and heroes from all corners of the universe come together for a battle-royale for the ages! Each one might be a Spyro, but every last one is equip with their own unique skills and abilities; even the commonly shared charge attack and fire breath among all of the variants carry different levels of power and matter of execution. No two Spyros will handle the same, Competition and Cooperation are about to lock horns, and the arena's set to go out in a blaze of purple glory! Who will you fight for?

I suppose it depends on opinion? I considered it part of the Classics because it was set in the same world with the same characters and the same history from the past games. The only thing different was the revamped designs and new setting, but AHT was still presented in a "Classic" way.
It wasn't until TLoS that everything was officially rebooted from the ground up. It shared nothing with its predecessor but namesake.
Yes, A Hero's Tail was the first big change from the PS-era, it wasn't 100% Classic, but it wasn't full on reboot yet either. It's a weird in between from Classic and Legend.

When I was younger I kind of grew up with the Legends Spyro. He was the first Spyro that I was introduced to.

No worries! His features are pretty extreme in how exaggerated they are, trying to appeal to kids and all. Though-- he did end up looking way more mutated than cute, or cool.

i do love reignited but skylanders spyro has always been my guy

You're very right! Vivendi published Hero's Tail, Eurocom developed.
Vivendi published all of the games in that era, so that particular design, I associate more with them, same as how Activision published all the Skylanders, while ToysforBob and Vicarious Visions developed the games.

Gotta be honest, it's TLoSpyro all the way for me. I lean more towards DotDSpyro, but I love both of them.
To be honest, I love all of them to some degree. I never played A Hero's Tale, but really, not liking OG Spyro is heresy. It might be, but I doubt it's possible to like TLoS without liking OG Spyro. Hell, I'm even beginning to warm on Skyro. Hated him originally, but he's got this cute, boxer-like quality to him, and as soon as I started to think of him like a cute pug or a boxer, the look grew very quickly on me. 
And reignited, oh boy, Reignited Spyro looks glorious. I do seriously hope this new Spyro isn't all we're going to get of him.

You're probably in the majority there! O: Although the Legends are the most obsure (only running for 3 years), all the comics and stories out there are usually of the Legend series. I'd guess most people's favorite is Legend Spyro, assuming said people never played a Classic-- but Reignited is getting up there fast~
I think it's very possible, since you only grew up with the Classics if you're over 20, or had an older sibling that played them and exposed you. Most people find out about Legend first since-- like I said, comics EVERYWHERE. Though, more and more people showing up in the fandom say that they only ever knew Skylander Spyro, and didn't even know he was his own character outside of it.
Honestly if it came down to tallying each vote for a Spyro, I can't say for sure who'd come out of top! The love for all the different Spyro's is pretty dispersed, and I think that's pretty cool.

Well, I'm 24 on the 16th, and I've played the original three, EtD, and of course TLoS. But yeah, the Spyro fandom does have a bit of a broken base, but so long as things remain amicable, I can't really see the issue. I do feel a bit sad my particular favourite era of Spyro is over, and unlikely to see a comeback, but I suppose I can take solace in the idea that the things it spawned live on in their own ways, and of course in fanfiction. It's a stretch, but I do hope that we do get to see some form of Cynder in some future Reignited context. Classic Spyro styled Cynder is pretty popular in her own right, and frankly, I think her addition is kinda needed: OG Spyro was a bit of a sausage-fest.

There's just as many adults as there are kids now it seems, thanks to Skylanders-- though, I'm not sure how many of them will take interest in Reignited, since that is a full on nostalgia call back to all the old players; and the inverse just might happen, where people familiar with the Skylanders look might not like the Classic design.
I highly doubt Cynder will have any involvement with the reignited Trilogy, she would be nothing more than a background cameo if anything, I don't see where she might possibly fit into the story or gameplay. But, I'm with you in the idea of a Classic Cynder design, I was always curious what she'd look like, or what family she'd belong to.

Aye, that's a fair point. I can't help but feel a bit disappointed in that reality, to tell you the truth, but I guess that's just how things are. It might be a bit ambitious and overly hopeful to assume this reignited trilogy is going to somehow spawn a new series of games or the like, and I'm getting overly caught up in a hype train. Skylanders is unlikely to be going anywhere anytime soon, and I doubt it'll be a good look to have to concurrent Spyro's running around at the same time, from different universes.

At the moment I'm hoping they'll at least later include Cynder, Flame and Ember in the games as DLC skins you can get for the game, kind of like...well, if you got enough collectibles in A Hero's Tail, you could do exactly that; play as Flame or Ember (although it wasn't perfect; the game switched you back to Spyro whenever there was a cutscene). I think that'd be the easiest way to satisfy the fans while still keeping the original game intact; make them optional skins! Besides, I'm sure plenty of people would enjoy the appeal of just playing as Cynder for the whole game and making a story based on that...
As for the series from here...well, no idea if they'll move onto the sequels, but TBH the thing I'm most curious about is whether someone would consider making a sequel to Shadow Legacy, since that game ended on a cliffhanger and the villain seemed to be a Proto-Malefor...even if it's Classic Spyro (or Late Classic Spyro, since it could be argued that the later games are kind of distinct from the earlier ones), it'd give us some new concepts to explore...

Well, in terms of games, I think Skylanders is over. Each game was making less and less money every year, until it was ultimately LOSING money for Activision. The show is still going on (I think), so they may just keep that. If they do possibly make another Skylander's game, maybe it will be based around the show.
For now we have the reignited trilogy to look forward to, but I also don't know what the future may hold for Spyro after that. I suppose that depends on how the game does, how much money it makes, and whether or not it stays with Toys for Bob. They could go on to remaster some of the other games, they may turn back to Skylanders, they make take a whole new direction, or they may just drop him completely for another few years until a new company buys him. There's no telling.

Oh? I wasn't aware of the financial side of things to be honest. That is interesting... Depending on how well Reignited is received, it could be a good way for the Spyro series to be reinvented in this cool new thing, as you said. I am... Fearful, though. The delay to November was good, as it moves it more towards Christmas sales, which is encouraging. If it's at a lower price than your average $60 game (or equivalent in Pounds in my case), that too is good for promoting quick christmas sales. I'm worried though, as it's competing with some big ticket names, including Battlefield V, which itself was delayed to November, and while that game has been drowning in BS, it's still a powerful rival for Spyro's attention.
But yeah, there's no way to know, to be honest. I hope it stays with TfB, because they seem to genuinely care about the little guy, as you said, there's no way of knowing right now.
