Dear Lord, ignore the terrible title Finally, my entry for the Halloween Fright Night Show Aaand, its almost Thanksgiving.
This was not supposed to take as long as it did. Armani and Annie's pose was giving me so much trouble. Gah! And y'know, in the end, the pumpkins are my favorite thing about this piece.

This was Annie's first show and boy, was she excited. So excited, in fact, that she came up with the absolute worst costume to wear in the cold Canadian weather and didn't bring her coat. Nice. And then, she had to hear her mom talk about the fact that she forgot her coat the whole way there. But, whatever. She wasn't about to let that ruin her trip. Halloween was her favorite holiday, outside of Christmas. And, she was the first at the stables to show one of their new stallions.

"Okay, then," she said to him. "I guess you don't look that bad."

She must not have put the paint on right, because he was a smudged mess, now. She was supposed to be Daenerys Targaryen, and he, her dragon. Buuut, she supposed she could say the red color was blood, right? A dragon bloodied from his prey? That was legit, enough.

Annie rubbed her arms, trying and failing to stay warm. Armani was feeling the chill, too. She would get his blanket as soon as they finished and removed his tack.

"You know," her dad said. "You could've taken advantage of the fact that he's named Armani. He's already got the light hair. Put'm in a suit and there's your costume."

"Does that mean you'll get me an Armani dress for next year's costume?"

Yeah, he wasn't doing that.

Her family wished her luck. As did Ryan, the stable's co-owner, who joined them, too. Ryan was the one who picked this horse to join their "showing group". She was really excited for what her star student and horse could do.

Armani, however, was just wondering when he was getting another snack.

"Ready?" the girl asked the horse.

Sure. He shook out his mane. That head piece was getting annoying.

Waiting was always the hardest part. Annie had him warmed up, already. He wasn't the guy who liked to wait. He wanted to go gallop around, then take a nap.

But, finally, he heard his name. By no one he knew, but it caught his attention. Then, Annie nudged his sides, so he knew it was time to go. The tall horse trotted to the arena with enthusiasm. Settling into a moderate canter to the first jump. His heart thudded in his ears. Yeah, leaping into the air. Feeling like he was flying? That's what this guy lived for. He soared over the jumps. Launching too high, for a few.

Annie had to hold on tightly, to keep from hurtling off.
