The idea is good, concept is good, colors are good. If the sharpness were better, and also light (which is pretty dull at the moment), then it'd be perfect Keep up the good work.

Neat! Reminds me of my Apple Splash photo [link]
Except I chose to zoom in on the apple closer while you chose to include the entire apple and the surroundings in.
Its just very interesting for me to compare. When I look at the 2 images side by side, it's like mine is showing "Here is some detail" and yours is showing "Here is the whole picture". And I really like both ways.
Very nice work!

very pretty and interesting, i love it. ive been trying to get fast shutter pics lately and i find it really hard to get a fast shutter. what's your advice on how to get the fastest shutter possible without destroying the quality of the shot?

Use the flash.
I took a look at your pics and it says that you're using a Canon 40D?
Thanks for the comment.

when i use the flash the shutter slows down to 200. is there a way to fix that?
i normally use a 400D. i have used a 40D though, but that was just when i borrowed my friends one. i could borrow it again, does the 40D work better with fast shutter photos?
thanks for the advice

Well, I'm using a Canon XTi which is the same camera as the 400D (same camera, different names).
I'm not sure how the 40D will work (I've never used one), but the 400D/XTi works great.
I don't think you can increase the shutter speed any more than 1/200 when using flash. But that was my shutter speed when shooting this shot (and all my other water shots), so it doesn't seem to be a problem.

Wow. Simplistic settings in a way. I've got a D60 and I can definitely get all of those, thanks. I tried f/8 ish when I took my icicle pics with ISO-100 or 200 too.

Not very but white balance confuses me. I bought two books about photography and neither were helpful. One book was really just all about mirrors and reflectors (sort of a waste). The other gave a few helpful hints nothing to write home about. I'm still learning.

TwiggyTeeluck In reply to ForsakenOutlaw [2009-02-03 03:50:00 +0000 UTC]
The white balance is the color of the whites in your photo and it can be called the temperature. In this photo, I have a very "cool" temperature, so my white balance looks blue.
To be honest, I learned just about everything I know about photography by myself. Reading a book about it or taking classes to learn about it just wouldn't help me. I think photography's one of those things that's best learned through trial and error.

Agreed. Very agreed. But even trial and error needs a little caption here and there .
