might just be me, but doesn't look like hte middle fits too well with the background... but i like it nonetheless.

There really is no background, though. As you can see, the middle curves slip into the "slits" of the rest of the fractal. There is no background but black.
Just kidding, I get what you mean. Everything is kind of toned down and then BAM, there's the middle.
