Presenting my own Fursuiting 'Survival Guide,' a checklist to help remember any important items and tasks for any event! ^^
This list is made PURELY FOR FUN and to be HELPFUL. These are lists of items that I personally go through before every outing, event, and convention at which I'll be in fursuit. I usually simply jot down my list on a notepad or in my phone and go through a mental checklist of sorts, but wanted to take the next step and make it into a tangible checklist for myself. I thought, why the hell not make it fancy and post it for others to use! (I love lists, okay? I'm such a stereotypical aviator at times, it almost hurts.
)This 'Guide' provides several lists that include essential items to bring whilst fursuiting, and also some speciality items and tasks to bring to or do at specific events. The 'Pre-Suiting Checks' section more so presents some abstract checklist items and is a good way to assess situational awareness. The entire checklist is intended to be useful for any and all fursuiters, newbies and veterans, for any and all outings, from conventions, meets, and fursuiting outside of con/furry spaces.
Of course, nearly all of the checklist items are optional and are able to be adapted to the specific outing that you'll be attending. The key things are just to plan accordingly for your event, have plans in case of mishaps, (falling, fursuit malfunctions, dehydration, etc,) and stay safe. But, as with any and all fursuiting, the number one rule is to HAVE FUN!!!

I just wondering something. There will be a furry convention in my town. and I was curious that when I go to the convention and pay for my pass (or tickets) can I go home, (after the convention is over) come back the next day the convention is on, and use my pass to get in without paying again?

Awesome! This is very helpful! I will be attending my first con in January. I'm not staying at the hotel (cuz I live like 30-40 min away) but it's still helpful to know what I need for the con and what I should get to keep at home (like the drying fan for example) Thanks for posting this!

Haha, yeah, there are lots of things to think about! And the list can change depending on both the type of costume and environment in which you find yourself. Since I myself have suits of different styles, (toony and realistic,) and I suit both in and outside convention environments, I thought it important to add different aspects and things to be aware of. Some of these things come from me going, 'Oh no, I can't believe I've forgotten xyz!' So hopefully this can help others, too, remember the little but important things that make for a fun, successful, and safe outing! ^^
And haha, this isn't 'official' camo. This is actually my own pattern that I designed and textured based off of NWU II. And there are no issues regarding use of camo and depictions of uniforms unless a servicemember wears a uniform when or where they're not supposed to, or when someone dresses up and uses official naming and rank. I've actually seen people at conventions wearing camo with names and GENERALS' ranks on their collars. I am talking full-on stars. Now THAT is disrespectful, (and also illegal...) But regs are a whole other conversation in and of themselves that we could have, haha. (I do provide a link to a plain black and white version, if folks would prefer use that one, also.)

(Yeah, that'd be very cool! A military artist, or a military fur Group would be awesome! I'd suggest a DAGroup, but seeing as how dead DA has been for the past few years, I can't imagine it would garnish much activity. There are tons of military furs out there, I know, and there's a few piecemeal groups on FA. Though, considering that we're in the military and quite busy, the groups aren't too hoppin,' haha. And thanks! I just fly and draw, and somehow find time to sleep and eat and fursuit sometimes, lol.)
Oh yeah, fursuiting can be as simple as you make it, or with a lot of work! I've found a nice balance that makes for good outings, hence my condensing it here in list form.
Haha, it's fine. And oh man, I would advise from going to conventions where there are big AoT and Hetalia panels going on - cosplayers looove to run around in as-historically-or-currently-accurate-as-possible military get-ups, complete with ranks and flags and all. I really don't mind the outfits at all, but the ranks, and especially countries' flags, is kind of in that grey territory.
And haha, I think the giant 'FURSUITING SURVIVAL GUIDE' title makes it furry enough.

Yeah, I try to stay away from communities on Tumblr and FB, (though I don't have an FB anyway.) Had some loud-mouths try to tell me that THEY KNOW EVERYTHING there is about the military, and I was just like, 'See ya,' and disabled my anonymous Asks after that. Yeah, pal, I'm sure your experience sums up the ENTIRE MILITARY, congratulations. Now get back to work!
And thanks! Yep, fly pretty regularly, am prepping for a series of missions at the moment. And eh, call me biased, but a pilot in a jet or crew in a recon jet can never be replaced by a UAV, no matter how many millions of dollars they throw at 'em, haha.
Ugh, the struggle is real! I got lipstick on the nose of one of my suits a while back, and I am still working on rubbing it out. I don't get it - people will wash their sticky hands before they rub them on their shirt or pants, so what makes them think it's okay to rub all over fursuiters is beyond me.
(There are tons of tutorials out there about fursuit cleaning, and a lot of it depends on the type of suit you got, and techniques person-to-person. I personally try and use the washing machine as much as possible, but will spot-clean more fragile parts like the head and feet, things that can't get tumbled around. Dry cleaner is definitely a 'no way,' as they simply don't know what to do with fursuits, and can ruin them!)
Yeah, that kind of drew the line for me. I mean, I could totally get it if THEY WERE in the service, but to throw on some mock 'fantasy' military gear and throw a serious salute at attention AND not being in the service just made me cringe. And yeah, haha, you're right, at least they weren't posing as the highest rank they could find, lol!
