Not that this gal couldn't handle herself - she's buff, and those coils? Solid strength. That's what I love about snakes...
I absolutely /love/ nagas. I love looking at them, drawing them, colouring them, shading them, highlighting them, designing them... They lend themselves so perfectly to my shading style - all those little glistening scales, mmm!
Having had a pet snake before helps, such as knowing where to put all the skin folds - how their skin is actually quite loose and dry - and how crazy coiled up they can get, lol.
Torso and arms reffed from myself, lol. I've found that using myself for reference is a great drawing exercise as well as extremely convenient.
Expect more sultry serpents from me in the near future~ Inshallah.

This reminds m e of something I saw while meditating once. Its a crappy painting I did quickly and I could not remember all of it when I started, mainly the hands. I think I have it posted here on DA somewhere.

What kind of snake did you have?
I have a cornsnake ^_^ They are so awesome are they not? Snakes and serpentine creatures seem to just exist to be drawn!

He was a Western Hognose! ^^ He was a little snake with big attitude, lol. Cornies are so nice! What colour is he/she? They can have some really exotic colour combos.

When he was a baby he was white and black. Now he's light-ish grey with dark brown spots (strangely nearly exactly the same hue as the sofa. My theory is he is trying to camouflage himself.)and a kind of yellowy glow from his underside, so the browns spots near his head are more orange than brown. He's called Noodles.
Did the Western Hognose have a name? (hognoses are so adorably tiny!)

Cool! I think this is one of the first I've seen of a naga. I like the muscle-design you gave it! You mixed the humanoid part and the snake body part almost flawlessly! They way you did it, it almost looks as though the tail could actually part down the middle so that she could have legs and actually stand on two legs. I wonder what would one of your nagas look like with really thick hair I wonder? One with clothes, or gypsy jewels or silky clothes?

Yeah, they feel so cool! How their muscles bend and twist around your fingers, and how their scales are almost soft. ^^ At least my guy's was - he had rougher scales. Thank ya!
