Description
Previous [link]"The thief's name is Bane. I've heard that she stashes her loot somewhere in the Windswept Woods. Please, if it's not too much to ask, could you search there for her or my gems. They mean so much to me!"
"Hey!" interjected the cat. "I want in on this too! I need to get on the Guild Leaders good side so this jerk of a Pokemon can join the team." he remarked.
Why would you want a jerk on your team? Stella thought, glancing at him again, but deciding not to question the scruffy feline. She instead answered Opal, "A jewel thief named 'Bane,' huh? What species is she?"
"She's a Mightyena." the snake responded.
"Well, we could definitely look for her." She looked again at the Purrloin. "And I suppose I don't really have the authority to say that you can't come with us, so... Anything we need before heading out?"
"No. I can't be that hard to find her. Let's just go already and get this over with!" Lucian said carelessly, his tail flicking back and forth in annoyance.
Anima had begun staring and the cat's oddly-shaped tail intently, her eyes following as it moved quickly back and forth. She crouched and readied herself for an attack...
"Alright, let's not waste time then." the tall fox said, annoyance apparent in her voice. She promptly turned and headed to the southern end of town, swishing her many tails as she went.
"Finally." Lucian grunted.
As the Purrlion began to follow, he felt a sudden jerk in his tail. Alarmed, he swiftly turned around to find the Totodile had the appendage firmly in its grasp. Noticing that the little crocodile was beginning to open its jaw, he quickly swatted the tail back into his possession.
"Hey! Don't do that!" He yelled, glaring at the child.
Anima was used to sudden outbursts from her victims, so she didn't flinch much at his yelling. Plus she'd been growing quickly and was already almost taller than him... She brought her hands to her mouth and giggled mischievously; then she bounded after Stella on all fours, the red bandana around her neck flying like a hero's cape. "Grumpy kitty no catch me!" she teased.
"Hah! Wanna bet?" Lucian smirked. In a matter of seconds he leapt into a sprint, steadily closing the gap between him and the Totodile. His sly smile widening.
Utilizing her Aerial Ace for an extra speed boost, Anima sped past the Ninetales in a gust of wind. "Wh- hey! Where are you going?!" The white fox barked.
As a second gust blew past Stella, it yelled, "You're mine, you little scamp!"
Lucian slowed and turned to the Ninetales and shouted, "Come on, ya Slowpoke!" He then faced towards the Totodile and returned to full speed.
Stella huffed in frustration. "I don't have time for this..." she growled under her breath as she started after the others.
Anima on the other hand was thoroughly enjoying this little chase. She darted around some 'mons gathered in the square (almost knocking several of them over), squealing all the way.
Lucian, feeling he was getting nowhere fast, darted suddenly behind a nearby building. A grin still plastered on his face.
The little Totodile was oblivious to the fact that she was no longer being chased by the "grumpy kitty." That is, at least, until she looked over her shoulder. But her mother was catching up fast. Anima knew she'd get caught eventually, but wanted to keep it up as long as possible. She continued to zigzag, trying to throw Stella off.
From the backside of the building, the Purrloin bounded his way its roof. He scouted out the folk below, until he came upon the little blue croc. After a short crouch, he leapt in her direction.
Anima never saw it coming. The two collided and rolled, Lucian ending up on top, pinning her. The baby didn't seem upset, but proceeded to stick her tongue out and blow raspberries at her captor.
While mildly annoyed be the spit of his face, he gloated, "Don't mess with the best!" Then proceeded to prod Anima in the nose, followed by quickly hopping off her before she got a chance to give him a nip in the paw.
He then felt a sudden warm sensation on his back as the Ninetales loomed over.
Heat radiated from the snow-white fox as she shot a frighteningly intimidating glare at the duo and growled in an assertive tone. "I hope you two are quite finished. I'd rather not waste any more time here when we could be teaching this jewel thief a lesson."
"Alright, alright. Lead the way, miss grumpy-tales!" Lucian snorted, nudging Anima.
Anima grinned widely and snickered at Lucian's remark as Stella rolled her eyes and began, yet again, toward the southern side of town.
*lacuna lol*
Upon reaching the wispy tree-laden grounds, Lucian blurted, "So, Grumpytales, where's this Bane-lady?"
Peering into the trees, the Ninetales said, "My name is Stellaluna, thank you. And she supposed to have a large store of treasure somewhere in these woods." She hen proceeded to sniff the air and the ground. "The stolen gems should have Opal's scent on them...but it might take a little longer to find with this constant wind..."
After letting out a big yawn, Lucian suggested, "Well, let's just go whatever direction you can get a whiff in." His boredom and impatience getting the better of him.
Stellaluna took a few steps into the forest, head held high, determining the direction of the wind. It seemed to be changing, not really set in any one direction. How bothersome... she thought. Sweeping along the edge of the forest, she tried to pinpoint where Bane had entered, and began following a faint smell into the woods.
Anima walked behind her (on all fours as usual), alongside her newest acquaintance. "Hey. You hep Mama?" she asked.
"Eh." Lucian shrugged, "Just to be done here faster. I'm already tired of being here."
Suddenly he perked up as a thought entered his mind. "Hey, wanna mess around with your mom?" He whispered quietly to Anima.
The little one's eyes brightened with excitement at the thought of causing some mischief. She nodded her head in agreement. "What do?" she whispered.
Ahead of them, Stella was focusing on following the "trail" she had picked up, unaware of the plotting going on behind her back.
"Okay, first we should find some red berries or something." He started, as he was scoping out the area for such berries. After a short glance, he came upon a Cheri berry plant and quickly snatched a pawful of them.
"These should work!" He said softly, returning to Anima. "So this what we're gonna do.
"First," He smooshed a few of the berries into a pulp and smeared it up and down his chest, "We gotta spread all this around. Then you take the rest and smear them all over your mouth.
"Now, I'm gonna pretend that you ate me and you have to give your loudest, most evil laugh, alright?" He said as he began lie down in front of her in a semi-lifeless position.
Anima nodded before taking the remaining few and smushing them in her hands, then wiped the pulp and juice all around her mouth. The spicyness of the berries was starting to tingle, but she didn't want to ruin their prank.
Just the thought of what her momma's face would look like caused her to start giggling. She looked down at Lucian's "lifeless" body and laughed louder and louder until it was a maniacal (albeit high-pitched) cackle.
Stella, who by this time was quite a ways ahead of them, quickly whipped her head around and ran back yelling, "Anima, what are yo- What did you do?!" Maybe I shouldn't have told her about my hunts, I should have known she'd want to do it herself eventually...
Slowing down to a trot as she approached them, she looked at teh cat in near-disbelief. The toddling Totodile stood there grinning widely. "I eat him, mama!"
"No, you didn't eat him, baby, he's still here, see? If you ate him he'd be in your tummy." The fox leaned her head down toward Lucian to further inspect him... did she smell... Cheri berries?
Unable to keep his composure, Lucian burst out laughing. "Ahahaha! You thought she ate me, ahaha!" He seemed to be enjoying himself.
Stella flinched at his eruption of laughter, before regaining her posture. A harsh scowl was now on her face. "You think that was funny, don't you, fluffball?" She then lowered her face back down to his, so close their noses almost touched. "If your shenanigans keep us from completing this mission, so help me, I will eat you myself. Don't test me, boy." she threatened.
With a swift motion she turned back around and continued in the direction she had been going. "Come on, Anima. Let's hurry and get those gems back to Opal."
Anima seemed a bit despondent at her mother's scolding, and looked over at Lucian for a second. "I sowie.." she whispered, hopping toward the white fox.
Lucian gave a sneer towards the fox while her back was turned and mockingly mouthed her words, "Don't test me, boy."
He shortly resumed following them, eagerly looking for anything to cure his craving for something exciting.
After who-knows-how-long of walking, turning, probably going in a large circle, Lucian was fed up. He had been quiet for Anima's benefit since she seemed upset about Stella's earlier scolding, but could hold it in no longer. "Ughh how much longer is it gonna take you to find this wolf-lady? I'm bored!"
Just as Stella was about to fume her frustration at the cat, they heard a voice from a nearby shrub. The long-maned Mightyena in question sauntered out and agreed: "So am I. You'd think that someone who hunts for a living would be able to at least follow my trail. Instead I've been following you! Hahaha!"
The white fox instantly heated up, falling for the Mightyena's Taunt.
The latter then leaned forward in a sort of play bow saying, "Come on, why don't we make this more exciting-" before leaping fast in one direction yelling, "-and cut to the chase!"
"Raaaaaa get back here!!" Stellaluna bounded after Bane, singeing the grass as she went with her white-hot paws.
Lucian and Anima were soon left standing alone. "Don't worry, I'll watch the kid!" the cat yelled. He then looked over at the croc and smiled. "Now we can have some fun."
Lucian's excitement upon the Ninetales sudden absence shortly turned to annoyance as the leftover Cheri berry pulp's spicy fumes and stickiness began to irritate him.
"Eeeugh..." he grumbled. Figuring Anima to be a Water-type, he asked, "Hey, you've got water-type moves, right? Could you make like a pond or something over there so I can wash this stuff off?" He motioned to a sunken spot near a large boulder.
"And don't you dare get me wet." He said with a small glare.
Anima had since licked what she could from her face, but, being a water type, was never opposed to a nice bath. "Yeah-yeah, I do dat." she nodded before quickly waddling over to the depression. She took a deep breath, then spewed a stream of steaming hot water into it. When she was finished she began to rinse her hands of berry pulp and the dirt and grass that had begun to stick to her.
" 'mon!" she said eagerly, waving Lucian over to her with one hand.
Noticing the steam rising from the pool, Lucian approached it cautiously. As he got closer, he started to feel warmer. "Whoa! Is this stuff hot or something?" By this point he was crouched at the edge of the pool, anxious about heat.
The sounds of the chase could be heard faintly in the distance.
"Yeah, careful, is hot." she said with a seemingly proud grin. "I is a hot, hot- pot!" A puff of warm air blew in Lucian's face.
"Hahaha, tired already, foxy?"
Lucian recoiled from the unwelcome warmth that came upon him. "Hey! Knock that off!" He snapped.
In the same moment, a greyish-black blur dropped from the top of the boulder and landed with a spectacular splash. A split second later, Bane leapt high out of the pool, yowling in pain.
A second blur collided with Bane mid-air, and the two canines landed next to the pool, Stellaluna pinning the former to the ground. "HAH. Caught you." she Ninetales panted. Noticing that Anima and Lucian were here, she looked around in confusion. "What are you guys doing? Anima, did you make this hot bath?"
Glad to be recognized, the little crocodile answered: "Yeah, I make it! I make a hot for the jelly bath!"
Bane began to squirm as if to escape, but Stella held her down saying, "See? There's more where that came from. I suggest you tell us what we want to know, unless you'd like a face-full of that." her head motioning to the boiling pool.
Bane huffed, scanning the fox's face for any sign that she was bluffing. A twisted grin appeared across her muzzle that eventually turn into a crazed laughter. "Alright, alright. It's that Seviper's jewels you're after, right? It's a shame you couldn't catch me yourself, Ninetales. I rather enjoyed the little chase you gave, ahahaha!
"Oh, and about the jewels' location, I actually left them tucked beneath the rocks you started chasing me from. Judging by the looks of them, they don't really seem to be worth all that much, but I guess they must be important to you.
"Now if you don't mind, will you get off of me?" she smirked, awaiting Stella's next move.
She wondered for a second if Bane was actually telling the truth. If she loves being chased so much, why not give a false location and force us to come after her again? Stella huffed. "I would have gotten you eventually." Lifting herself off of Bane and stepping to the side, she said: "And those gems may not seem like much to you, but regardless, they're precious to that Seviper you stole them from."
"Well, I believe I've had my fun for today. Now, if you'll excuse me." Bane remarked, bounding to the top of the nearby boulder, "I have more valuable treasures to acquire!"
With that said, she soon disappeared from sight.
At that, a loud grumbling noise came from... Stella's stomach. She chuckled, "Heheh, guess I'm just used to eating after a run like that! How about we get going, hm?"
"Woo hoo!" Lucian shrieked, "Let's get outta this boring place!" Unsure of which way was out, he eagerly waited for Stella to lead the way.
The group soon located the bag of stolen gems and hurried on their way.

I thought that Ninetales was about to get forcibly intimate with Bane when I first saw this.
