wow... I cannot unsee how alike their eyes are now that you've mentioned it xD but it's cute! Well, yeah.. The pigeons are tough birds: they were trusted as message carriers, as they able to travel hundred miles without losing direction..!
Just like the pegasus Derpy, who was trusted to travel to the north pole.. she braved the storm, delivered the messages, and returned to tell the tale..!

Ahaha.. well, maybe..? I don't really know..! It was long ago, when I was having discussion about pony Derpy with my friend..
Maybe those goggled eyes are like chameleon eyes that move and see independently, and that allows her to see omnidirectionally.. and, maybe she is a bit clumsy but it's just a 'side effect' of how supermaneuverable she actually is..! And then, I remembered about that video of how pigeon dodge a falcon ambush.. and I was like, "Idea..!"
There you have it, Derpy is known among the fans as a mailmare, and pigeons have reputation of world class messengers..! Ahahaha..!
And, actually that's just a spoof of Winter Wrap Up, when a pegasus says "Ditzy Doo accidentally went north to get the southern birds!" and then someone made a drawing of Derpy in North Atlantic with the penguins.. ahahaha..!

And yes, -airheads-.. I mean, happy-go-lucky type of person always have soft spot in everyone's heart..! Sometime they might be annoying, but when we see them smiling so innocently, we always end up forgiving them..!
