Well. That's new. Don't see many variations on Flash, seeing as nobody really likes him. But this is neat.

He's gotten little to no personality in official portrayals, often coming off as the "Brad" (or "high school sweetheart dreamboat trope") of the Equestria Girls movies. Since then, there have been some fans that strive to give him a personality other than the surface-level stuff official material gave him. But it's not often, as most see him as the worst part of EqG and actively avoid him.
Granted, he is kinda bland. And the "crush" stuff with Twilight could have probably been explored deeper than it was. That's a rather interesting dilemma for a romantic relationship. They love each other, but they come from different worlds and they have responsibilities they can't just up and leave for somebody they just met. To have had that explored as EqG went on would have been interesting. But, they kinda just drop it after Rainbow Rocks. Thus, nothing was done with him and fans oft forget he's a thing.

If they explored that, it'd be really interesting! Instead, he remains the generic cute guy that Twilight instantly falls in love with because the script says so, occasionally interrupting the plot to bump into Twilight, smile and blush at her, and be smiled and blushed at in return. Funny how in movie 3 and 4, he's still around, but now the running gag is "he's a generic love interest with no one who needs one of those; what's a generic love interest to do?" ...which gets him sympathy, actually.
It's kinda sad; wasted potential always is.
