You can learn something watching this being drawn on my livestream.It's the recording made July 15 at around 4 am. lol.
THERE IS A PAUSE IN THERE WHERE I GO TO SCAN IT AND ONE WHEN I DECIDE I NEED METALLICA TO CONTINUE TO INKING.
...It was "And Justice for All", if you must know.
Also, Disturbed's "Indestructible" is what I was listening to when I started sketching this. I GET THE BEST MENTAL AMV WITH THIS SONG WITH ITACHI PWNING EVERYTHING IN FOOTAGE THAT NEVER EXISTED BUT OH MAN IT WOULD BE SO EPIC IF IT DID.
And yes, this is how I do 90% of my drawings. I rarely ever ink them digitally and even those ones start on paper exactly like this.

So you ink traditionally, or digitally?
I have a problem inking traditionally-- there's always pencil left behind that makes it look awful to scan-- but my digital inking is nearly impossible. Is there a trick to getting the sharp points, like you manage to get?

I ink traditionally.
A good eraser really helps. I use a big fat gray rubber one. I ink with 3 or 4 different size pens (01, 02, 03, and 05). Also, adjusting levels after you scan helps darken up the lines and whiten the paper.

Nice choices in music, although I'm not very familiar with that Metallica song. So I went to iTunes just to hear that little preview to get a idea of what the song sounds like and listed in the search results was an albulm titled "Lullaby Renditions of Metallica" I found it quite amusing.
