Description
#3 part of tutorial- Cutting out ur patternInstuctions:
For me, cutting fur is a nightmare. (i use faux fur btw >.>)
but i found a technique that prevents a lot of the fur
damage that can come with using scissors on ur precious
(and expensive) fur. it takes a little for time, but well worth
it, unless u want to sacrifice cutting some fur in the process,
then go ahead
recommend for cutting ur fur, i've heard others use razor
blades with the fur placed on some cardboard and that will
prevent fur damage as well, but not everyone has a sharp
enough razor to cut through fur, and it seems sorta
dangerous if u don't know what ur doing.
garage with a trash bag.
line thats one inch from ur seam line) but DON'T cut like ur
cutting paper trying to use the whole length of the scissors,
this will result in cutting off fur which is unnecessary.
ur scissors, even millimeters if ur really patient (though
thats not necessary) and only cut at the weaved cloth part
of the faux fur that the fur is attached to (i hope that makes
sense) the base of the fur basically
off many hairs
tail and then shake them out so that any lose hairs will stay
in the trash (or outside... <.<) instead of all over ur house.
NOW GO INSIDE! xD lol it is necessary! and click on the next
link for the next part of the tutorial, I'm gonna be dying my fur with kool-aide to make it more brown on top, and more yellow on the bottom to match my fursona so this next step is optional
faux fur was bought online here -----> [link]

I see the link for the faux fur, and I went to the site and found all the fur fabrics, but which one exactly is the one that you used? The pictures they have on the site aren't very good for colour detail...
This is a fabulous tutorial, by the way, I'm totally excited to go make my own tail! xD

They changed their patterns since i made my purchase there.
But it was a long fur faux fabric and it was originally named "dormouse"
the closest one i could find was called brown wolf
PM me on my active account if you have any more questions
and good luck on your tail!

Haha the fur better be it was so expensive.

now i'm aiming to change hue of the coat
i haven't sewn ears to a hat yet, but i'm sure its fun!
how did it not work? can i help? i might know how to fix maybe
thank you , though i personally don't like the last one i
made, which is why i'm making a new one and trying this design.
Idk if it works yet, im flattered u want to try my design
but wait tell the tutorial is done and i worked out all the kinks,
i'm still experimenting and changing things from my old design to make
this one more lifelike, durable, and sturdy/bouncy
thanks for watching me! u'll get all the updates from this project

Oh! Good question, it's for the butt xD the little piece I'll hand sew on to close the hole with, and actually I'll need to sew styrofoam onto the back of it to make the base stronger

Oh! I should have done that when I made my tail for my cat costume on Halloween I just made a felt cylinder then stuffed a cylinder shaped rod of aluminum foil in it to make it posable XD

Well with something that skinny it's not a big deal but if it's thick, it needs a sturdy large base, aluminum foil is a good idea
, For my tail though im gonna need to use a heavy coat wire cause the fur is so damn thick and fluffy xD lol

Kubulu In reply to TwirlyFoxy [2011-02-22 01:27:21 +0000 UTC]
you can use koolaide to do that and it doesn't bleed out and fade???? I had found a tutorial here that used sharpie marker ink to do that for anime wigs.. I assume the same can be done with other fibers :3

TwirlyFoxy In reply to Kubulu [2011-02-22 01:35:35 +0000 UTC]
I considered sharpie, but that would be alot of sharpies x.x
Yep! there's a dye recipe using vinegar and unsweetened koolaide to dye faux fur , it's been done

hmm well maybe u could redo them? there r some great tutorials for furry gloves out there i personally want to try
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Kubulu In reply to TwirlyFoxy [2011-02-22 13:27:25 +0000 UTC]
Well... my line of thinking is that they have to be tight so they stay on, but all the ones I find are all neat and fluffy and I don't think they're as tight as I keep thinking they are..

TwirlyFoxy In reply to Kubulu [2011-02-22 13:36:50 +0000 UTC]
what they do is stuff them with either fluff... or more ideal, Styrofoam to put ur fingers through so that it does stay on if u look at the mechanics of some of them

Kubulu In reply to TwirlyFoxy [2011-02-23 01:48:48 +0000 UTC]
I just constantly mess up the fingers.. Theyre so close together!! I'd have to see a more professional hand piece..
