Description
When I decided to paint this picture in summer 2000, I did research on the hieroglyhs and their meanings. To respect the ancient egyptian culture, I didn't want to put gibberish(just any symbols). At the time I was going to UALR(University of Arkansas in Little Rock) and working in Kroger. The four lines, going vertical, do say something. The 1st one saids "The limit of art cannot be attained". The 2nd one saids, "The sun rises in the sky". The third one saids, "Do not attack one who does not attack". The last one saids,"I have spoken in Truth". Within her wings are glyphs that stand for beauty, life, stability and rulership. On the pillar that she sits on stands for "beautiful woman". In retrospect, I don't know why I made the mummies "bare-butted. For the background I wanted to have a papyrus look to it to where it would look ancient. It took me months to "blue-print" the idea and days to paint it. I listened to a variety of heavy metal and rock: Drain STH, Type O Negative, Coal Chamber, Faith No More, Sisters of Mercy, Ozzy Osbourne, etc.
