Description
"It is to no one's surprise that many Scalebolds perform transformative attributes when exposed to large amounts of divine influence and faith. These beings were made by the False Stars to be vessels of that said faith, but sometimes this very divine link can get hijacked. However, in this case what I find even more strange is that when a Scalebold that loses its faith may sometimes develop something new to take its place. They might begin worshipping random animals, concepts of life and death, or even excess gluttony... Today we're going to be looking into the Cult of the Gourmand, a terrible byproduct of the False Star's reign that refuses to die out. They do not worship any gods, but many of their leaders believe themselves to be a concept or "lesser whole" of some sort of primordial instinct. This idea unfortunately would be to consume the weak and unworthy as that life must be spent or there shall be an excess of it.The Cult of the Gourmand is all about hunting giant monsters, trying to consume the gods and their followers, and making "meals fit for divinity" so they may achieve their transformative state. It is also to note they will "cook" legendary items or things that have sentimental value to others. The original cult was believed to be formed after a Scalebold ate the rotten husk of a dead god, claiming they have found a new form of "rapture" and divine inspiration. Soon the Cult would implant itself in cities, just below the surface as villagers would go missing, false bounties to lure upstarting heroes to their demise, and they would sow chaos until they have full control of the town. Once a leader of their cult or a cult member hit an "excess" limit they will evolve into what some would call an "Ogre", (The reason why they're called "Ogres", is because of the idea that they are the vengeful spirits of Dragons that were nearly brought to extinction by the False Stars.)
These "Ogres" will carry around a massive pot for cooking and demand their followers to go and fetch ingredients. In this image here we see a "Lesser" Ogre and one of their minions, but by the time a town gets taken over? We might even see an "Ogre Monarch" in which they and their minions will begin rampaging across towns and cities. These Ogres are hyper intelligent beings despite their brutish looks and are very clever as you probably will very rarely get to see one. These creatures also love to barter for food ingredients for their cooking pot and may give travelers or those who seek them out "useless trinkets" that they believe are inedible. I on the other hand would advise against it as most of them are cursed and there's a reason to why they're not trying to eat them or feed them to their followers.
As much as I wish to always try and find a peaceful solution for things... I can't find one with these absolute gluttonous monsters. It is advised if one spots an Ogre, a Bone Collector, or any weird runes depicting meat or teeth on armor is to contact the nearest cathedral of the Warrior of the Pillars. From there a crusade should start and very hopefully they can stop the infection before it's far too late..." ~Thomza Materia
(Note for Freya: "Ogres" are not the vengeful spirit of Dragons, but they certainly have draconic properties. It is also regularly believed that their tail is some sort of leech-like parasite attached to them. No comment.)

It's been a while since we've seen or heard anything out of these guys. Once again, really aiming to get rid of some outlines in my artwork. Trying to experiment and make characters really live in the background. Making sure the monsters in the front really "pop" out of course. Been debating on where I should put this, and it'll either go in Scalebolds... Monsters of Skin to Scales- something like that- I also was debating on calling this giant creature a "Kaiju" or not considering its destructive habits in cities. Or well, the "main" leaders of the Cult and what happens with them--
I really need to make a new Scalebold and Fruit Kobold "species" sheet lmfao.
Until next time lads, thanks for reading.
Disclaimer and Copyright: These characters involved, and the artwork belongs to me, TwistedHensley. The Skin to Scales Universe also belongs to me there, TwistedHensley... You get the drill. I want to point out that this is an Epic Dark Fantasy setting with a lot of mythological and religious tones and that there is no real-life connection to any of these events, religions, characters and it is fully, grounded, in fantasy. There is no copyright infringement also intended to other forms of media as Skin to Scales is meant to be its own thing and something I've been working on for a very long time. This is the same setting where faith is a massive part of the magic system, and it is usually meant to have a very bright and colorful art style to help balance the tone.
