Description
A3 drawing of Rat Fink, the classic hot rod mascotIThis isn't my style of drawing, as you'll notice if you look at my other work; and I couldn't have imagined it or drawn in somebody else's style, so it's been copied from a drawing by the original artist, Ed Roth - I just liked it so much I wanted to try drawing it myself.

My dad's big into Ed Roth's stuff. I think it's pretty cool! Love this drawing, you did a good job! I wish I could draw cars/hot rods- all I draw for them is a simple box with circles for wheels.

Haha practice makes perfect! I haven't always been this good - and this one is only this good because I was copying Ed'd original drawing. I have done a couple of hot rod style cartoon attempts, though as much as I love them I don't quite feel like they're my style of drawing.
I'm big into the hot rod scene as well - I painted Rat Fink onto my guitar as well

Thank you! I'm glad you like it. This one, as mentioned, was basically me re-drawing an original picture - just to see if I could do it accurately. I don't quite have the same level of skill and imagination otherwise, though I did try a hot rod drawing in this style; browse.deviantart.com/art/1202...

My grandpa worked with Rat Fink (ed roth) on a ton of projects he did. It's pretty crazy knowing he knew a legend.

Wow, really? That's awesome! I wish I could have been there too
It would be really interesting if he still had some of the old work he did laying around the place.

Brings back memories for me, too. I remember "CARtoons" magazine. Unfortunately it ceased publication a while back. Funny stuff.

This brings back memories
Hey, ever read CARtoons magazine? It had a similar feel to artwork like Rat Fink

No, I've never read them - haven't seen that sort of thing much in Europe (America's the big hot rod country - we get more fast and furious wannabes in europe lol)
I'd certainly look at them if I saw one somewhere, I love this type of cartoon
