twosheds1, do you prefer something about 3.1 over 4.9...?    do they render differently?     wasn't 3.1 pre-Iray?

Yes, it is pre-Iray. I have 4.9 on a newer PC, but I find it really clunky. It could be that it's too much for my PC, I don't know. But also, I find the interface really hard to use. Iray renders are, honestly, mind-blowing. They look better than the real thing, in many cases. But the way I look at it, I could be an expert with 3.1 or a novice with 4.9. I like being an expert (plus I have a ton of stuff for 3.1, and items for, say, G2F don't always work with G3F, and I don't understand the relationship between the Genesis figures and Victoria 5 - 8). I should work with 4.9 more, I know.

no no no.....please say it isn't so....please say you've had 4.9 all the time, that your skills in it are quite sufficient, thank you, and that if "I wanted to work in an Andy Warhol movie I'd move to New York and just turn on the camera. Would that be real enough for ya, you dumb jerk?"   ....and retorts like that...    because, well, you see, I thought these render styles were a conscious choice.   That you thought, like me, that G3's and V7's are just a bit creepy.  That it seemed one day while we were all asleep, we woke up to find 'our sister is not our sister, and my dad is not my day', that the sci-fi movie was real and there's no getting out of it now.. where's the artistic license, where's the intentional scratching on the frame?  I want to be drawn into the frame.  ...I don't want the frame to reach out and club me over the head.  Reality is overrated..   what else would we all be doing with deviantart memberships if we didn't want to escape to the purely representational?  Yes, the mannequins look so real, to be sure.  ....but are they human?    For that reason, despite my advanced computer power, my inventory of G3 figures, an Iray engine parked out in my IrayGPU 750xt, despite all that more, I choose V4 !!   I chose classic beauty.  I choose the art over the science.   I choose the fantasy because that's how I learn what reality is really all about.  I choose distance.  now.....if I can only find that download link for DS3.1 !!   Twosheds1 is moving to New York !!!

Wow. I had 3.1 at first, but when  I switched computers, only 3.0 was available, and I really had to dig to find 3.1. I don't remember now where I found it. I may have contacted DAZ about it. Reason was, I had a lot of stuff that wouldn't work right in 3.0. Dynamic cloth, for example. The Little Black Dress worked, but that was it, not even the freebies. Also, the textures for Cowboy Sweetheart (which I use a lot) wouldn't load. I'd have to load them manually, which was a pain.

But with 4.x, I've had some version of it since it was released. If I had learned on that to start, I'm sure I'd be all over it, but making the switch from 3 to 4 was too big of a jump. I've done some stuff in 4, which Ive uploaded, but like I said, I'd rather make 3.1 sing than 4.x hum.

I especially like the way you utilize the Genesis and G2 figures.   I've been trying to cast a lead character for my novella, and I have to get it right.   Unlike what you do, I won't have the luxury of trying new faces once I get started.   and so I shop and search and peruse great gallieries like yours, hoping to find just the right girl for the story line.   There are a couple from the daz3d store of genesis products that I would especially like to find the names of.    If I answered one of these chats and attached a promo jpg to it of one or two of those model figures, could you try to I.D. it for me...?   Perhaps you've even used one of them yourself....     and thxs for your consideration... Sure, send them along. I can't promise I can ID them, but I'll try.

ok. thxs.   here's the first one.   It's a genesis model that was used by Daz3D, mostly for hair, and after only a dozen uses or so, was discarded for another Genesis morph.   Do you make your own face morphs?  ...doubtful that I'll ever be that good.  ...or do you always use product models...?   In any case, I know this face will be familiar.  I need either to find the model, or figure out what the mix is.     ...and thxs much for your thoughts  !!

Looking at their profile on DAZ, it doesn't look like there's a way to contact them, but there's a contact link on Rendo.

wow !  You've got a good eye. Claudia in Genesis comes very close.   Perhaps not exact, but close.    maybe different skin texture?  But you mentioned Damara for skin?   in any case, I think you nailed it there.   Damara also is close.    As for contacting the hair product vendors, I've already done so.   Both SWAM and goldtassel are contract vendors there.  They make the product, and in house staff do the render promos.    But I might contact P3D and ask her if Daz used Claudia or another of hers.    twosheds, thxs a bunch.

I'm actually a writer who is trying to learn how to render...  big challenge for me.    At my pace and with the steep learning curve, it might be awhile til I actually get a novella product out.    But you can get an idea of my story line thinking through the little vignettes I write.    Links below...     and thxs so much...   really like your gallery !!

and there are more for BlackTalonArts, but that's enough to give you an idea what I do...

I've never made my own face morphs; I always use commercially available models. I tried making one of my wife once, but it didn't turn out too well. I don't know how people do it...

But anyway, looking at those, Iggy Hair looks like PD Claudia: www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/pd… The nice thing about Rendo is that their product pages usually have promo credits, so if you like something else on the product page, you can find out what it is.

Augusta, not sure, but the texture looks like Claudia. (I use that texture probably 75% of the time). Hawthorn looks a little like PD Damara, again with the Claudia texture. Damara: www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/pd…

You could just try contacting Goldtassel and asking which characters they use. They look like P3D's characters, but her characters all look pretty similar. Take a look at all her products and see what you think. She makes beautiful characters. He stuff is mostly for V4, but there's some G2F stuff in her store.

Luscious!   She looks great - and gals that read are hot!  At the risk of seeming distracted:  the curtains really look great and the light rays and lens flares are particularly nice touches.

Thanks! After I uploaded it, I thought the light rays were kind of overdone. I'm glad you like them.

No, the light rays really add to the scene.  Well done!
