Description
Based off real military gear, but i've taken many creative liberties. If you're more knowledgeable about gear, then I'd appreciate any input you've got.So, how would do jump into the fighting of modern wars, without having to join a military force? Find a private military company/contractor. In other words, become a modern day mercenary. Society shelters me, I can say I know nearly nothing about them.
- I avoided more "tacticool" guns. Ironically, that AK has more features than my car.
- I don't know how many grenades every grunt carries. Neither do I know how many magazines
- The AK might be a bit big, I scaled it down after someone commented on it. I still think its a bit big. Then again, maybe she's just small...
- Helmet seems to be actively absent. Lol, I know.

Actually he has got the weapons down almost perfectly..the form and function of the body armour and belts is not really good. 1) You need a chest armour plate....usually enemies aim straight at the chest....to do what is called a double tap..or body mass shot...these are lethal and aimed at the stomach...lungs, heart...and lower neck. Snipers us a triangular targeting system. Head...and both lungs with heart at the center. 2) The ammo pouches maybe effective where they are...but if they are on the upper body...they need to be aligned with loading hand...whether it be left or right. Also the excess belt usually are designed for minimal restriction of firing stance of a soldier. The ammo pack in the 7.62mm version...is actually a hinderance for a soldier to bring the weapon to the shoulder or to hold comfortably in the prone or crouching position. 3) of the grenades for explosive reasons as Cresent Raven noted is a moot point....because with a concussive blast or shockwave...or even impact...Grenades and C4 can detonate...in a massive blast...found this out by doing a little research. World War II...in Italy the Italian Resistance killed almost an entire German SS company with one bomb...because the bomb did not kill many soldiers outright with the blast...the concussion effect of the bomb...caused almost all of the German's grenades to explode simultaneously. (Sorry I can't spell today for some reason.)

Mmm that's what I thought. I know there's a whole bunch of things that aren't right or don't work properly which, in retrospect, stick out like sore thumbs
Good point though, on "bringing the weapon to the shoulder" as well as aligning ammo to loading hands @__@ these meticulous details fascinate me, but were definitely not obvious at first (which is exactly what I want to get a grip on)
Thanks for the input @__@ Most insightful

Hey feel free to visit army technology.com ..they have excellent stuff on body armour and tanks and like. I use them for some of my ideas..or better yet...use real life...pictures of army men and PMCs....to get a feel for what you want to do with your characters.

Everyone knows female warriors don't wear helmets, it makes them look more badass. (lol). But no seriously the missing helmet doesn't detract from it, the AK looks proportional although if you stare too hard it starts to seem like its a little bit too long unless its an AK74, which is a good enough excuse right. The whole thing is excellent, I love it, it's very clean, and the details are clearly identifiable.

I started off trying to make the gear as real/practical as possible, so thats kinda why I slapped myself on the wrist for having no helmet Trust me when I say the AK looks even longer if you can see the stock. Heh, of course, the argument as to why its so big is that she's just small (i don't want to look like i'm making excuses; i still feel the AK is a bit large)
Nevertheless, thanks for the comment, I appreciate it

Fzzz >_< That AK still took forever. And thats only a SIDE ON VIEW, at an angle, I think i'd die (I already had alot of trouble with the MP5's angle) Thanks for the comment though mechanics seems to be less appreciated rather than flesh though >_____>

... That may be because of the impression that solid 3D objects is easier to draw than rounded spherical ones that change dimensions [link] BUT I've always considered them both equally hard .____. It depends on the way the person's mind works really I guess, but to me. They drawing just plain hard *sigh* Plus, some people dislike dehumanization and solid lines are more than often the cause of those 'feelings' so ya It's really not less appreciated but more a matter of a widely conformed way of how things are. Don't forget, if I remember right, that there are more females on dA than males. I won't even start on the gender preferences lol.

the impression that solid 3D objects is easier to draw than rounded spherical ones that change dimensions every single time
This sounds like something you learned/are learning in animation >:3
Yeah, I understand that mecha is a niche interest and since everyone is more accustomed to flesh, they like flesh more than pistons, motors and cold titanium-ceramic alloy I guess its good to have both skills *shrug*
dA, more females? BOLLOCKS >__> LOL "gender preference"

... Actually, I just typed that out from what I think xD I've only learned like half a page of theory and most of it's terminology as well .___.
Big topic gender preference xD I'd have to go into media imposed stereotypes and the conflicting societal + private factors
And ya, from a poll someone hosted last time (he/she I still dont actually know because I dont pay attention to it xD) there were more females than males ... and yes that person had alot of watchers but I guess it's most likely biased because of the style of art the deviant does which make people watch him/her xD

hmmm
a tip, ammo and frags are stored on the stomach, hips, legs area
none of those stuff in chest area because, if stray rounds hit that ammo,or nade it explodes right infront of the guy
holsters are mostly at places that allow you to quickdraw, so i think you got that right
AK is certainly missing the grenade launcher, laser sights, bayonets, and the barrel is too short
MP5 lacks silencer, acog scope and laser sight

twtmaster In reply to CrescentRaven [2009-04-27 09:12:23 +0000 UTC]
Hm, So I guess I should've found a different place for the mags and grenades on her. Also, if I could've drawn it lol, I would've tried webbing for the grenades and magazines.
LOL, her sidearm is on her left, but she's not left handed, so she'd have some trouble with a quickdraw and I said "less tacticool", so I avoided too many bits to the guns (barring that crazy AK
) Also, that AK was all over the shop to begin with, I gave up getting everything "correct" on it
As much as the MP5 is a bit bare, I'm just content with having drawn all the bloody details at an angle @___@ Thanks for noting the ammo and nades

I would do more fullbody, but usually it ends up looking totally boring to me...
That and I still have to work on fitting certain things in along with proper proportions and angles if I really want this eromanga artist thing to work out...
