Description
The cool prince of Troy! The one that actually does things! Hector! He is actually pretty cool, and a lot more noble and awesome than Achilles or any other Achaean...Unfortunately Hector made the mistake of killing Achilles' Husband Patroclus...And that lead to him on the wrong end of Achilles' spear. Whoops. That aside, Hector is probably the greatest guy out there. Just saying, he is perfect.

Yes, yes, because stealing armour and bragging about the people he's killed is so noble. But still, good picture.

Actually the whole stealing armor and bragging thing has to do about the Greek concepts of Glory/Honor. Specifically, in Greek, timē (I am sorry I don't know how to make my computer write in greek characters. Sorry...) that is honor that is bestowed upon you from others, or that you take for yourself.
Timē is gained by taking the armor of those you vanquish, by collecting prizes or by receiving praise for that. You can take someones timē and add it to your own by stealing their armor. People like Hector, Achilles, Agamemnon, and Odysseus get a lot of timē this way. Essentially, the timē that comes with the armor is passed to the better or more noble fighter. So to the Ancient Greek audience, Hector would be the most noble man.
The gaining of timē is so important in Greek Mythology (specifically the Trojan War and the stories that follow it) that gaining and loosing time are matters of life and death. Telemonian Ajax commits suicide over loosing Achilles' armor in a contest to Odysseus. Its not about the armor, its about Achilles' timē.
Of course, there is another concept of Glory and Honor called kleos (The same kleos from Herackles and Patrocklus' names!) but that is a different bucket of worms entirely. Beyond all the timē and kleos Hector has, he is also just a great guy. In the Iliad, I would say he is probably the only person who is genuinely good, and certainly the most noble, even by our own standards. Of course, this is my own opinion; but I would suggest reading (if you haven't already) the Iliad, and then draw your own conclusions!
Thank you so much for looking at my art and taking the time to write a comment! It means a lot to me and I hope you do not mind my little Homeric Greek lesson.
