So I just started playing Genshin Impact for realzies now, and it's been an okay experience so far. The only thing I don't like: how the story starts... Maybe it's my delusions of grandeur or just hatred of misanthropic characters, but I HATE The Unknown God and how she was so cruel to the traveler siblings, separating them and sealing away their powers. I know this is a driving force in the game to reunite with your sibling, and you have to be powerless at the beginning of an RPG, but this character never shows up again and so little is actually known about her that she just comes across as a female-b-word. I have so many more criticisms with her, but I should just post this and get over it as I play the rest of the game if I so choose. I'm sorry if I can't fully articulate why The Unknown God bothers me, and I know it's mostly just my petty feelings getting in the way of what I'm certain is an otherwise outstanding game.

Anyway, to vent my frustrations, it's god vs god, Maximus vs Asmoday (As she is sometimes called). Why? Why not at this point? Maximus was just minding his own business wandering the universes and she blocks his path at Teyvat just like the star travelers. I'm pretty sure Maximus has his reasons for opening up the gates between the Eden Multiverse and Teyvat, in fact given Candace's visit to the Neo-Egyptian Empire, he must have his reasons. Proper interdimensional first contact between Eden and Teyvat cannot occur so long as there is a hostile deity stranding random passerbys in the realm with no way out. Maximus is aware of her power, but isn't sure if Asmoday is aware of his. Perhaps diplomacy is attempted first and doesn't work, in which case Maximus is forced to fight, and he won't be backing down or defeated easily. As the last inheritance of the Primordial Great Beings of the Prime Universe, he is not to be messed with. But even if victory is assured for Maximus, he's not willing to completely erase this vengeful goddess from existence. Perhaps peace talks are resumed after she is defeated, or maybe Maximus even gives her a taste of her own medicine using his own sealing powers. Who knows...?
