And now for the Martians! I don't really have a favorite Martian design, since there's so many. (But Queen Tyr'ahnee and Miss Martian have my eternal admiration. )

Like Edgar Rice Burroughs and the Looney Tunes, my take on Martians is that there would be more than one intelligent race on Mars. Here we have an example of a typical Green Martian female. Just a note, I barely know anything about Burroughs' work and my take on a "Green" Martian will probably be much different from his. With that being said, Green Martians are one of the more typical species of Martian on Mars. Being so, they are the dominant race of the planet. Here we see a Martian female guard. The ratio between male and female guards in the Martian military is quite balanced, but like how with Venusians where males are more rare than females, Martians are an opposite in how males are more common than females. As such, females are treasured in society, and have a key role in the survival of the species. The Martians as a whole, like many Martian interpretations, are highly militaristic. The Martian Empire is renowned for its might as a solar power, at least until the humans reached spaceflight, in which case the empire was near extinction due to depletion of resources.

Again, not all of the details have been thought out. I hope to fill in the blanks soon.

UPDATE: Thanks to some ideas in comments I have a few new details on the Martian people. First of all, the guards like the one you see in this picture are also assigned gladiatorial and and royal servant roles from time to time. Also, the Martian Empire in general have a vast amount of resources due to asteroid mining in the Asteroid Belt and mineral pools and fresh water beneath the Martian surface. The former has supplied the Martian Empire an immense starfleet, while the latter may have and may still supply a means survival for the Martians.
