Description
Still drenched from his encounter with the merfolk, Ender is about to meet his destiny. He nervously searches through the catacombs of the mysterious temple while the vampiric Sumara approaches from the shadows.I hesitated uploading this already since I'm still working on a part two of my last mermaid/boat scene. But oh well, most of what I do is out of order anyway. Had a lot of trouble lighting this as I wanted dark and gloomy but Iray wasn't having it so I had to settle for some filtering adjustments in postwork.

I think the lighting is phenomenal. Dark and gloomy but you can still see everything.

Thanks, Sonja. I recently found out that Google Chrome has adjusted their color settings and there is apparently no way for users to adjust. I thought something was going wrong with my GPU. So I tried Microsoft Edge and everything was a-okay. All of deviant galleries and even the Daz store look way funky in Chrome. Deep contrast in light and dark. Looks horrible.

Thanks again, man. Sorry for the late reply. Been backing up my Daz folders and getting my Scene and Scene Subset folders in order. Shame on me for letting it get out of hand...

Ooooh, I get a tingle in my 80's centra The colours, the set, everything! Grace Jones from Conan the destroyer - meets Harry Hamlin from "Clash of the Titans"
I love it!

And yes, I can see the Harry Hamlin comparison. He definitely has that sort of look. Ah, Clash of the Titans. One of those golden oldies for me.

Awe, Bjorn, so appreciate the kind words. Yes, Sumara's look and toughness is somewhat based on the Grace Jones look. When I settled on the hair style it really came out. Plus her ferocity in my story is somewhat inspired by her tough girl attitude. I love you mentioned it! I'm an 80s boy so love all that awesome 80s stuff even to this day, music and all.

My comments maybe get boring, but this is again an outstanding piece of art, Glen! Beautiful characters, great composition and terrific lighting! The expression of Ender is fantastic!

Wow!!!
This is really well done. A great work. His facial expression and his sweating, which also comes from fear and the knowledge of his end - fantastic.
I like those scenes very much.
Let's be comforted: we all have these problems with Iray and i still was not really able to solve this because Iray doesn't like dark scenes.
Maybe you can render it in 2 layers: the background and the persons separately and combine it in Photoshop.

Thank you for the kind words, man. In regards to Iray: I typically render my scenes in several layers and composite in Photoshop. But I didn't like how it looked in this instance so I started over and rendered in two sections, one with the female and one with the male. By doing it this way I was able to keep the bloom filter and the lighting from conflicting.

Hey you've been busy!
That's a very cool magic effect. I love how the light reflects off Ender's wet skin.
Did he come from that passage at the back.. or is that another part of the temple he's about to explore.. if Sumara lets him get that far!

Yep, he's aimlessly wandering the corridors and just entered a large chamber. He should probably turn around but it wouldn't do any good.

I loved the magical effects and the sweaty / wet look of Ender. And I also liked the fact that it's dark, but it's still possible to see everything. It gives a dark and dangerous aspect to the place. I'm curious to see how the interaction between these two will be like.
Hm sorry for asking, but how did you manage to make his hair look wet? Is it a shader? or postwork? It's very cool!

Thanks, Juliana. I'm sure an artsy fartsy would tell me it's unbalanced, too much emptiness on one side, etc. I had more vines and detail on the far side, but it was really bothering me and felt distracting so I took it all out. It's all for me anyway and I much prefer that sort of dark, empty feel.
The hair and wet skin geoshell are part of Linday's Short Wet Hair for Genesis 8. I found out the geoshell messed up because Ender's skin is a Michael 4 texture set with geograft skins already applied. So I had to do some minor post fixes.

Well hell's bells I just accidentally deleted EVERYTHING I had typed!
You can use G8 hair on G3 easily and it doesn't mess up at all. I use SickleYield's method for converting and the hair works everytime. I even provided some pretty pictures.
1. Load G3M
2. Deselect G3M
3. Load Short Wet Hair
4. Change the name of the hair (not sure if this is necessary but I think it is, and better safe than sorry). I changed it to ShortWetHairG3M
5. Click on the arrow with bars icon (docking bar icon??).
6. Go to Edit->Scene Identification
7. Click on the ... next to Preferred Base
8. Select Genesis 3 Male in the list then hit Accept
9. Hit Accept again
10. Right click on the hair and Fit to G3M
11. Save as a Figure Prop Asset (here I save the name of the file to 'ShortWet Hair for G3M' because I have my converted props/clothing/hair items saved in categories such as G3M Hair, G8F Clothes, etc)
Hopefully that made sense. But if you want to try this approach, I've uploaded some images to follow.

Thank you so much, Glen!! It was very kind of you to explain it with pictures (this makes it all easier to understand) even though your evening was busy.
I'll try to do this and I 'll experiment with the female hairs too.
(sorry my late reply. )
