Finally. After nearly two years of collecting dust (seriously, I checked the 'last modified' date of the file and it said "12-23-12"), I finally got off my lazy tuchus and...sat back down onto my tuchus to complete this guy. The reason why I put him off for so long was because I sort of got depressed at how he was turning out. He's got a pretty decent design, but I ended up butchering it in the process of trying to "Animate-ify" him. His upper half looks okay, but I cringe everytime I look at his legs. Those derpy, derpy legs. I apologize for those. But it was bothering my OCD that he was left out, so I decided to finish him.Β
I like that even so early on in the character's life, this RID Optimus wasn't afraid to change things up. A firetruck? Heck, yeah. Tons of white? Go for it. Make his helmet and wrists blue and that's it? Sure. He's got windows on his legs and very little blue. I keep saying this over and over again, but I wish more Optimus designs (and Transformers designs in general) liked to change things up.Β

This is the Optimus that introduced me to Transformers. While G1 is my favorite, this one still has nostalgic value.

Oh hey, it's this Optimus! I liked this bot, as you mention, 'cause he's not afraid to mix it up a little. Such fun!
A nice design, and certainly funkier when placed into TFA. Crazy legs, but otherwise a very handsome robot, as says the Seeker! Cool beans

I mean, you have to admire a robot who can get us rambling with just his legs. A strut here, a step there and he has us all blabbering! XD
Such power could be dangerous in the wrong hands- or legs-, so it's a good thing it's Optimus and not, say, Megatron, ho ho!

Yeah, the legs do look pretty off, but the upper body looks nice.

This was one of my earlier attempts, so I don't think I quite "got it" with regards how to do things properly. I was torn between trying to make his legs unique and trying to make them match the other "Hoover Vaccuum Cleaner" shaped legs.Β
