Ceres Class Torpedo Boat
A cheap and simple vessel to produce, the Ceres was introduced in 2120 and has been in service since. Intended to be a short ranged patrol ship, the Ceres is massed and used to swarm and quickly move before being fired upon. It is a rather weak vessel, easy to destroy yet difficult to catch. The Astro Federation makes frequent use of these vessels as a first line defense of a planet under its control. The four fins around the engines are typical of Astro naval ships. There are force field generators used to protect the engines. The bow is armored to be used for a last ditch ramming attack.

Pallas Class Fast Attack Craft
The Pallas was built around the same time as the Ceres, in fact both use the same hull, the Pallas just has less armor and holds less voidcraft. It does pack heavier batteries than the Ceres. The design idea was to create a fast, rapid response craft to deal with minor threats, or to harass enemy convoys and leave before they could respond. The Astro Federation makes frequent use of these vessels as a first line defense of a planet under its control. The four fins around the engines are typical of Astro naval ships. There are force field generators used to protect the engines. The bow is armored to be used for a last ditch ramming attack.

Iris Class Patrol Craft
The Iris was built more as a defensive craft than a true warship (more in line with a Coast Guard than the Navy). As a result it has less armor than the Pallas, but is considerably faster. The Astro Federation makes frequent use of these vessels as a first line defense of a planet under its control. Rarely is the Iris used offensively in combat, though during the Great War, many were pressed into service with the Navy to refit fleets decimated by the conflict. The Navy chose to use the Iris by grouping them in squadrons and using them in hit and run campaigns against enemy convoys and lone warships and then quickly retreat before they could respond.
