Description
Astraea Class Frigate
The Astraea was the first purpose built, domestically designed, warship the Astro Federation commissioned. Heavier designs would take more time, so the Astraeas would fill the void while the rest of the fleet was being built. Once they were built, the Astraea was used for its intended role, as an escort ship. The Astraea is built with a powerful railgun, intended it give it extra firepower and striking range despite its small size.

Midas Class Frigate
The Midas and the Astraea were built using the same basic hull design. The Astraea was intended to have heavier firepower from its main armaments, the Midas was intended to launch as many torpedoes as it could in at a moments notice, a role some say the Ceres Class does better.

Vesta Class Frigate
Unlike the Astraea or the Midas Classes, the Vesta was designed using a completely different hull. Despite having one more engine than the Astraea or the Midas, the Vesta is slower than both as it uses an older model of engine. It was intended to be a budget ship, and as a result the navy really only uses it as a convoy escort, as a system defense ship, or as a training ship.
