Description In 2013, the Discovery Channel kicked off its annual shark week with a program called Megalodon: The Monster Shark Lives, which claimed to show evidence that the biggest shark in history, Carcharocles megalodon, still survives today, three million years after it is supposed to have gone extinct. This “documentary” was a big fat stupid fake - everything in it was made up, with only the briefest disclaimer at the very end. Setting that dumpster fire aside, there have been occasional sightings from around the world of gigantic sharks, and a fossil Megalodon tooth has been dated to only 10,000 years old. So is this giant shark still alive today?

No. It’s not.

First off, the tooth in question was inaccurately dated, and there is no evidence of Megalodon after its apparent extinction three million years ago. More problematic is lifestyle; cryptozoologists claim that Megalodon could’ve survived in the deep sea, undetected except on very rare occasions. However, fossil evidence shows that Megalodon lived in warm, relatively shallow water, and preyed on large whales. If Megalodon was still alive, it would be seen regularly, and we would find whales that had obviously been attacked by it. Since we don’t have numerous reports of gigantic sharks or whales being found ripped to shreds, it’s pretty safe to say that Megalodon is long dead.

Also, fuck you Discovery Channel. Fuck you.

It was a real shark. Now it’s a dead shark. A very, very dead shark.

Well a new movie is coming out. It’s called “The Meg”. And for the first time ever on camera, the Megalodon shark will appear.

I’m aware, the movie looks pretty damn stupid but in a very fun way. But if you’re suggesting that the actual Megaldon is somehow still alive, then I’m afraid that’s just not true.

Looks like a bad video of a basking shark to me. Kinda funny how it cuts off before you can see any features very clearly. Almost like it’s been cut down to look like something it isn’t? Hmmmm...

So are we done here or...?

That is a Megalodon sighting, he’s been seen before. And that’s the bottom line, cuz Stone Cold said so!
