Description
A realistic version of Princes Celestia from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.I did it simply because I felt it would be an interesting challenge to do render her mane realistically. And as a break from my big Doctor Who picture. I think it turned out reasonably well but I think I've gotten a bit rusty not having done much art in the last year and a half.

Yep, you spelt it right. I've never thought of Celesstia's mane as the Aurora, but it fits very well. The Aurora is the interaction of the solar wind in the atmosphere.

Yes, the mane's pretty awesome! The shading of the left (viewer right) hind leg bothers me though, it doesn't make the leg shape obvious as it should. There isn't enough distinction between the segments.

Yeah, that leg is a bit dogey. The anatomy is off. I have a poor excuse with that one, I forgot to fix it up.

Originally it was mostly obscured by her mane to the point where it look awkward in the sketch to have the wing at all. It would still clash with her head and horn so in the end it got omited.
