Heh, very pretty!
As you have been told before, the bark is pretty amazing and I admire the detail you put in it, not to mention that the colors work REALLY well together! You have a good sense of how the color wheel works. Now, the only thing that probably could make this a bit more dynamic is adding a bit of that yellow light onto the bird. While the bird is painted really well, it falls a bit flat compared to the tree bark. But it is a small suggestion, over all the peice works really well! (:

Yeah, you're right about the lighting. Backlighting is something I've never been able to get right yet.

Very nice work. I like the softness of the colors, and the brush like look of this piece.

The brush look is because it was done in Deep Paint, a rather obscure program than mimics traditional media (like Corel Painter I think).

Probably not... If it's more likely to get me my majors, then yes. However I don't think it's really high on my list of courses. I will probably have to do Statistics.

I know. I don't want to do it and if I can get out of having to do it, I will believe me.

Rthe thump?
Well anyway, I did take inspiration from photos and tried to mimic some of the effects that can be found in them such as out of focus backgrounds which emphasise the subject of the picture and motion blurring. Photoshop is a great help there.

Lovely job, the blue-against-orange works absolutely marvelously! I also really like all the rough texture on the tree, nicely rendered

Thank you! I was quite proud of the tree bark having never done it before. The reference pictures were extremely useful.
