Description
The Tiffany lamp leaned closer to the standing lamp as he reclined back with a cigar. She had had rather more champagne than the others at lunch and was feeling very convivial. The same could not be said of the Chinese latern. He was distincly uncomfortable with caddish behaviour of the Art Deco lamp whose company he was forced to endure. He would have much prefered to be seated next to the nice floral lamp who was sitting primly across the room. The aged Victorian lampshade was admonishing the young desk lamp. Behind the group butler, a former banker, and maid began to serve the afternoon tea.
----------------------------------------------------------
All these lamps are based on real historical examples. It was fun hunting down all the references for this. A3 done in various pencil grades.
This is a reworking of an old idea here .Β
DD Edit: Surprise of the day, scrolling through day's DDs and saw this featured there. I never thought I'd get a DD on the day the picture was submitted. Massive thanks to ^deshrubber for the feature. I've only recently gotten back into the swing of drawing in the last couple of months.

There is plenty of surreal art on DA, it just gets drowned out with anime and furry art.

and so if you want popularity... you must either draw characters without clothes on, or characters that are all ready famous...
its a shame. but surreality will always win in the end. after all, manga seems to be a passing phase.

Reality isn't weird per se. It's just we find stuff weird if it falls outside our sphere of experience.

I think was very restrained compared to parties today. They're more social drinkers than real revellers.

That is one of great things about surrealism, it can make you feel uncomfortable.
