Where to begin.....well this is a rare thing- I've only done a handfull of animated pieces. Also I've never done pixel art before. So the result's not bad considering. This is inspired by the battle format of the old Final Fantasy games (pre FFVII). I say inspired- the details are not identical. There are still the standard ATB gauges with the addition of limit/overdrive/trance gauges- though these limit techniques don't appear until FFVI. The battle speed is actually acurate.
For the characters going anti-clockwise:
MetalSeadramon:
A digimon from the TV series, also appears in Digimon World 2. River of Power is one of his attacks. A mainstay of the Final Fantasy games is a boss or occasionally and enemy that is insanely powerful and whose sole purpose in life is to wipe out your party. Repeatedly.
Goku:
From the Dragonball Z universe. He's the martial artist/fighter of the group. This is a common job class of the FF games. His comands, jutsu and kai, roughly translate to technique and spirit energy respectively.
SlrMoon (Sailor Moon):
From the TV show and manga of the same name. Another mainstay of the FF games is one character who insists on getting KO'd every battle making you continually have revive them. That is until you get sick of wasting your phoenix downs or MP and let them stay dead. All of the commands that appear under the heading 'moon' are full or abrviated names of techniques she uses in the TV show. Moon Tiara Magic is her main attack at the beggining. The card command links her to Card Captor Sakura as Sakura uses magical cards.
D:
From Vampire Hunter D. He's the main fighter of the group who has the best attacks and is good at staying alive. Generally the one to finish of enemies. All of the commands under the sword heading are sword based attacks from various Final Fantasy games. Wakizashi is one of the Aeon Yojimbo's attacks from FFX. The comand option 'L-hand' is a reference to D's mysterious parasitic compation attached to his left hand. He's very helpfull with breaking sorceress enchantments and detecting enemies.
Kuja:
The villan from Final Fantasy IX. He's a red mage which in Final Fantasy means he uses both ofensive and defensive/healing magic- henc why the magic heading has the subdivisions black, white, time and blue- the traditional devisions of magic in the games. Most of the spells he has are common to most of the FF games, the exceptions are 'Sheild' from FFVII, 'double' and 'triple' from FFVIII and 'warp' and 'return' which come from the older games. Sheild equates to temporay invincibility hence why Kuja is the only one not wiped out by MetalSeadramon. 'Return' is one of those random spells that you never really use which has a very specific application. It's used to reset the battle to the begining- a very usefull way of getting the animation to loop. Kuja has the summon comand because in FFIX he nicks off with the heroine's summons.

I haven't played FFU. Tactics is the only non-numbered game I've played.

oh FFU is'nt a game. well they DID make a GBA, mobile, and Gamecube game based on it BUT you can't find a single site still in operation that says so....it's like squareenix tried to kill the exisitence of Final Fantasy Unlimited.
Final Fantasy Unlimited is a 25 episode anime series made about the same time as FFX. it has a huge soundtrack. and plenty of neat things in it. the series was canceled due to bad rateings...
mostly because people thought that it would be like all the FF games. FFU stands on it's own. but like the Kill Bill volumes. the questions start in season 1 and the answers lie in season 2....which was canceled but exists in an uncomplete drama CD. a few internet novels containing a few very important key stories takeing place 12 years before the series begins(which vanished when the FFU website kinda faded away) and a 32 page manga which is nearly impossible to find.
whats strange is that square enix dubbed FFU in english and released it in several singular dvds as well as a complete box set which was re-re-released with different covers about three times
it's a REALLY good series.
and it's cheep too the entire series can be bought for about $33 but the best way to enjoy it is to buy the singular dvds because they contain things that the box sets have'nt LOTS of stuff...but each dvd has 4 episodes and each dvd is like $20-25....yeah....
if you want to know more check out Final Fantasy Compedium they have a big section devoted to all the charecters, inventions, monsters, and summons

I know FF Compendium. Great site.
Ah yes I've actually seen FFU. I just forgot. I saw the first 1 or 2 episodes when some one brought it in to our art class (we were allowed to watch stuff provided we still did our work- though Full Metal Panic was banned as it made the teacher's already hyper son more so. He attended our class despite still being in primary school when he got suspended)

Ah primary might just be an Australian term. We had* primary, secondary(more commonly high school/senior high school and middle school now) and tertiary (more commonly University) in our school systems. *Had because atleast in the Northern Territory they recently added a 'middle-school' which was basically an unnecesary waste of money.

We have 1 year of pre-school
primary school (transition-6)
Middle school (7-9)
Senior highschool (10-12)
Not every state/territory in Australia has the transition grade.

Very well done! I think if anything, the hand should move straight from one option to the next instead of having increments... if you know what I mean. Just coz it wouldn't be logical to be able to select an option when it's half way between two options or something.
