Description
"The faithless has forsaken us. The godless has hunted us. But Rakdarr... he has tried us. Tried all of Gomboston and I stood firm as steel. His divine war cry echoes through Gomboston and his children answer his call... He has sent us his champion... under his black banners we shall march to war and bring forth Rakdarr's order.
He shall put the world to the mace."
-----
And here would be an older sketch about a random Stahlkultisten. Lorewise, it's set in the time of the Gombostonian Uprising. The steel cultists were persecuted by the Dubrovzkans and those who didn't died fighting has fled to the depths of the Gombostonian forests where they decided to wait for a divine sign. Putting their faith into their Gods, rather than a radio, the "sign" came a bit late, when the uprising was well on it's way. Upon hearing words of the revolution by some Gombostonian rebels hiding in the forests has stumbled into their community, the steel cultists emerged. With their arrival the brutality of the conflict has escalated and shifted the balance of power on the Gombostonian side. Hailing the rebel commander Tyranio as the Champion of Rakdarr and the saviour of Gomboston instead of the old Kaiser who was sitting the conflict out in exile, has went to the head of people and Tyranio himself. It's believed that the steel cultists endorsement and continued support was the key factor that lead to the rise of Tyranio.

Good stuff, I love the hell out of the lore, his wild expression and his clothes looking like he's coming out of the wilds. The background is perfect to set the mood.Β

Gosh, this is intense! You got some ominous lighting going on here. I like how you are fitting more 'ancient' style religions into this more modern style world, this can get pretty brutal.

Thanks. Yeah, I figured that making the Gombostonians pagans would be the best course toΒ alienate them further from the Germans, plus making things interesting.
We'll see how far we go.

I think it's a nice 'spice up' compared to other fantasy based parallels of history.

Very nicely done, very creepy and intimidating. I like the idea of the mace pole arm he has, I presume it's mostly ceremonial, but still it looks really neat.
I also like the detail not just in the figure but the entire image, you really put a lot of work into this one, very nicely done.

Tyranio In reply to LevLADS [2018-05-25 18:13:43 +0000 UTC]
Thank you, then I achieved my goal. Yeah the pole mace was actually inspired by the cross which chatolic pilgrims used or still carry on their journeys. It's ceremonial, but when you got a medieval weapon for a symbol you can improvise every now and then.
And thank you very much. That's good to hear, because I have second thoughts on the lynched Dubrovzkans. Didn't wanted to make them too detailed with a lineart to highlight the cultist more, but maybe they are too close to not have a lineart... still I'm glad you like it this way.

Heha, might be unwieldy but could still hurt pretty bad.
Yeah, they did look a little bit like uncooked gingerbread men, but it's easy to not notice with the emphasis on the cultist and the rest of the backdrop.

Most likely. Thank God for guns and explosives, right?
And that's a very good way to put it. Their pointy hats don't help either... but, well next time I'll don't experiment with painting so much.

Thank you. Well, if I would say yes, he would pose a greater threat, but no, those are not his.
Stahlkultisten are savage and formidable opponents, but they are no shaolin monks. They most likely were lynched by other Gombostonians, maybe incited by a steel cultist.

Eh, some sorts of commisars. As for scare tactics, nope. Religious extremism is never something supported in civilized parts, but they are tolerated. Normally their atrocities are few and far between, as the army usually don't let them do what they want. Gombostonians aren't all bloodthirsty monsters after all.

Thought it would be good as a little spice.
