Banshee of the Abyss, Yōkai of a Thousand Prolific Screams, Decimating Silence. She has many names but best known simply as Mekūra-Jū, the Praetorian of Sound. Mekūra was conceived by the idea of making a “scary” looking kaiju, something that could give other kajiu in nightmares. Her basic body design was inspired by the Seamstress from the movie 9, her figure was tall and imposing but slim like a serpent. Since Mekūra makes her horrific debut in Japan, took a lotta design aspects of Yōkai and use them in her design. The pale skin, bat like fangs with terrifying grin, legless hindquarters that resembles a “ghost’s tail”. Also took some human clothing aspect from both Japanese and Victorian elements. The frill behind her was like that of those neck collars you would see on elaborate dress or the armor around her chest/abdomen resembles a woman’s corset. The loose flap of skin on her forearms was like that of the sleeves of a kimono. And she has her own twisted take that Feng Popo has with the makeup like patterns on her face. Unlike more upfront knights such Stygian or Elysian, Mekúra is like that of a assassin. Sneaking pass the enemy to surprise and effectively eliminate them, and she has a whole bunch of tools to do so. Though her signature ability is to weaponized sound waves into destructive, “silent” beams or act as a vibrational protection field. She can cloak, mimic vocalization, hypnosis and several other tricks up her sleeves.
