Astartes don't help people, they kill things on planets, then leave.

To be a serious critic here, I haven't read your comic for awhile so I started again from the beginning and so far I like it (again) but I must say, you have to decide whether this is a comedy or a serious 40k fiction piece. If it's a comedy, stick to comedy, and keep heading in the direction you're going in. If it is meant to be serious, I think you need to maybe read up a little more on Marines, because there are some discrepancies in the way yours act.

Marines are like special forces, except they are beyond human. They interact little to none with people, and their only purpose is war. They don't help people, they just fight. They are really meant only to be stoic, like angels of death, really, as it has been described.

Marines are only like tools, they fight their war, then go off and fight elsewhere, leaving everything else to lesser people. They serve only that purpose.

So if this is meant to go into serious 40k work, keep this stuff in mind, and it may help to read the Horus Heresy books, which gives some insight into the interpersonal relationships amongst Astartes.

If it's a comedy, great job, I enjoy it! Please don't take this a wrong way, I really had a hard time portraying Astartes to begin with, because they are hard to grasp oas people with personalities. I hope this helps, and if it doesn't then feel free to blow me off as an asshole critic.

constructive critic is not bad.
Sorry that I take so much time for that reply.^^°

Well, it is a comedy with some little serious parts.

To your Space Marine description, Space Marines are the protectors of mankind. Also they protect civilians, if the don't endanger their mission with that. Of course, there are chapters which don't have interrests to protect normal humans, for example the Dark Angels. But the chapters are different, some are so the others are so... and Space Marines are not just like tools. They are much stronger, more robust in body and spirit but they are still humans.
So the have feelings, just they can forbear that better than other humans.
I just look about the old 40k stories in old codizes or WD's. Because thats are the real good and original stuff from the 40k background.
The most new 40k stories from Games Workshop (like the Horus Heresy Books) are changed from the fluff so that exist really "only" the grim darkness of the future.

Well then I'd say we have a difference in opinion, because I'd say Marines aren't human, and they are tools for the Imperium, just weapons in the end.

And while yes their main goal is to protect, my point is that at this point in the story it looks like the battle has already passed over the planet, and if that were the case, then only Guardsmen would be there. Marines are a commodity, and therefore they would be needed elsewhere, and would be onto fight another battle at this point, leaving the clean up to other organizations.

And while I do agree older 4oK stuff was less fluff based, the problem there is that most people nowadays are ingrained with what 4oK is now, which is based off of thew new codices and rule books, and the new fluff. You can do that how you want, but 4oK people around now have will probably have a different view of the universe than you will, which will affect their abilities to enjoy your comic.

Behavior and tactics of Adeptas Astartes can differ from Chapter to Chapter. Yes, many Chapters are callous in regard to individuals and only value the Imperium as a whole.

Then you have Chapters like the Salamanders who will go out of their way to rescue civilians, minimize civilian casaulties, and take other tactical risks to protect innocents. It is also a VERY BAD IDEA to hurt civilians in front of a Salamander...it is however a very efficient way to die.
