It's kinda funny that they pretty much turned the Starship Troopers into IG in the movie, when the book version was probably a major inspiration for Space Marines.
Great pic, love the execution.

I said the book version, which is completely different from the movie, in tone, technicals (like tactics) and message.
In the book the unit Rico joins is composed of a few select soldiers who land in small squadrons, and are equipped with powered armors and personal nuclear weapons; the armors are described as looking like "a mechanical gorilla with a giant head".
Lightly armored infantry attacking en masse like some Ork-wannabes doesn't exist in the book version.
It should be noted that originally the director anted to name the movie "Bug War" and it was later pointed out to him that some themes overlap with the Starship Troopers book. He admitted that he hated it and didn't read it through.

i dont talk about movie...but marauder was bit closer to book....but my points was elsewhere....warhammer got ideas from lots of dources there is almost anything from sparta to present....so sayd that whole space marine idea was major inspired by ST book....dont think so

Oh, not exclusively of course; but Heinlen's book has one of the earliest examples of a powered armor in sci-fi and the Roughnecks' fighting method is very similar to that of Space Marines (tough it is pretty much paratroopers IN SPACE); it surely had an influence, even if an indirect one.

I recognized the scene without the link.
I think if we just superimposed Guardsman to the Troopers and Nids to the Bugs and changed keywords int he dialogue, we'd have a good 40k movie.

another day in the guard... plus their guns are about as effective as those in teh movie. yet i would say id think a nid swarm would be far more terrifiying than a swarm of bugs

Oh my God that face made me laugh so hard XD
I used to like the movie until I read the book (which was COMPLETELY different). However now I simply DO look at the movie as a quasi Warhammer40k homage.

I always thought of Starship Troopers just being another Guard regiment. The whole throw-grenade-in-the-biggest-thing-you-see is surely just a standard procedure for the hard-boiled motherfuckers guarding the Eye of Terror, no?
