They are known as the Dinozoids. An entire race of interstella reptiles led by the gluttonous "Big Mama", a massive terrible serpent like beast driven by an insatiable hunger, one that has lead to the devouring of all meat across ten planets. And now these pillaging lizards have come to earth, intent on harvesting all of its meat to feed their mama. And indeed, the most plentiful source of meat.....is humankind.

And indeed, the Dinozoids will not stop at humankind, all animals of the earth are on the menu. As such, the Wild has called forth the symbiotic collective of Meerkat Troopers to seek out five suitable warriors to wield nature's most powerful source of life, THE SUN ITSELF. With the situation so dire, the Meerkat Troopers don't have the time to find five hearts truly pure and courageous, the Wild has permitted them to find five humans who reach the bare minimum of human goodness and decency......

SUPERNOVA RED- Sahel Kiburi
Native Swahili African. The Meerkat Troopers got lucky with their first draft pick. Despite being the son of a local oil tycoon, he refused to abide by his father's wishes, nay, he has outright denounced the Kiburi Family for its continued focus on capitalism over conservation. All the money and "finer things in life" given to him by his parents, he donated to a local environmental group without a second thought helping boaster the funding needed to stop several of his family's attempts at establishing new oil drills. Willing to give up so much and even challenge his own father, it was as if he was born to wield the animal spirit of the mighty lion.

SUPERNOVA YELLOW- Akira Arkilese
Native Egyptian. Another avid decrier of the evils of capitalism....though one who takes on a more, shall we say, hot blooded approach to activism. Wanted across several counties for obstruction of urban development, defiling business owned property and even inciting one or two riots in American chain fast food restaurants. Hard to believe that such a vision of beauty could hide such a raging beast, but indeed the Meerkat Troopers see the source of her rage as but the desire to do good in the world. Her headstrong approach to dealing with problems inspired the Meerkat Troopers to bestow upon her the animal spirit of the relentless wildebeest.

SUPERNOVA BLUE- Jason Lee Cruz
African American. A guy who is perhaps too "American" for his own good, such was the reason his rather wealthy parents had him sent oversees to get in touch with his routes. Rather upset he was basically dropped into a country that he wants nothing to do with, he is fixing to turn his new lemons into lemonade with whatever "American Charm" and hair brain scheme he can come up with. Of course even a guy with rather skewed priorities like him could not turn away helping a child find their parents (even if he needed a little coaxing from his buddy Nester), as such he passed the Meerkat Troopers' minimum requirement test....though as commentary on his attitude they stuck him with the animal spirit of the unruly mandrill.

SUPERNOVA WHITE- Tumaini Kiburi
Native Swahili African. Sahel's younger sister. raised like a princess and thus pressured to uphold the family name. She was sent to reel in her rebellious brother, but because she loved him and looked up to him she could not truly stand against him like her family wants her to. And yet the Meerkat Troopers recognizing just how different she is from Sahel, seeing that she is still conflicted. They bestow upon her the animal spirit of the conflicted hyena....perhaps doing so to inspire her to rise above that which holds her back...

SUPERNOVA GREEN- Nester Bigglesworth
Caucasian American. Jason had somehow convinced his parents to let him bring along his "best friend" and "personal tutor"....meaning that he was able to bring along the one unlucky nerd who had the misfortune of being the Skull to Jason's Bulk. As such he's really only there to help Jason in all of his hairbrained schemes. But he is not a complete hapless buttmonkey, even he has his limits. And deep down he really wants to be Jason's friend and help the little blue blooded snot get over himself, as such the Meerkat Troopers even chose him. However, they thought Nester smelt funny, not terrible, just odd. No doubt it was his rather overt use of special scented deodorant that made them bestow the animal spirit of the musky warthog much to his dismay.

Just another whim idea I felt I had to jot down cause it was distracting me from completing other projects. And yes, I did just start off with the oh so original concept of "Megazord made of five prominent mammals featured in the Lion King" and went backwards from there. As a result I ended up with the motif of Land Mammals Only, African Culture and Solar Power, the last one being the little twist I needed not to just have this riding Wild Force's coat tails. And yeah, Land Mammals Only, no birds, no sea creatures, no insects and especially no reptiles.
