Description In my recent return to Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask (on Wii Virtual Console), I decided to take another look at the summary I wrote of what I would do if I was in charge of the development of a LoZ-KH crossover tyrranux.deviantart.com/art/Lo… .....and it sucked. I rewrote it to focus on only LoZ and KH, all Final Fantasy elements are removed, and I decided to rethink the items you'd get.

Here I was just keeping it basic, Sword, Shield, Hook, Bombs, Boots, Bow & Arrows, the basics. Only two of the items are sort of unusual for a typical Zelda Game item set but the rest are the tried and true stuff. That said however I tried to go with sort of a composite upgrade system with the items, a recent example of what I mean would be the beams in Metroid Prime 3 how each new beam doesn't so much replace your old one but adds to it with new features. This way the amount of items you would need to complete the game will be kept at a reasonable minimum so that the design of the game would allow for more puzzles and scenarios for each one (instead of having it to where you'll only need some items once or twice). At least that's what I would like to do.

Obviously I didn't draw all the items listed, I just focused on drawing the major ones. I also drew down what Link would look like in the crossover I had in mind, basically OoT Young Link with a damn pair of pants underneath that tunic skirt (seriously). And yes he would be a child the entire game, no forced turning into "Adult Link" for the sake of pleasing OoT fans, fuck that.

Mysterious Ocarina
Imprisoned in a mysterious jail cell just after he entered Aliantrice, Link was visited by the witch Maleficent who out of arrogance decided to give the last personal belonging of a former prisoner, claiming that even with this powerful artifact he cannot stop what is to come because he is not the true hero in green clothes that Aliantrice seeks. He has already gotten quite good with it and soon finds that when he plays certain songs he is able to create wondrous results. Along the course of his quest he will learn many songs from the inhabitants of Aliantrice (some of these songs must be played in the end of certain dungeons to cleanse them, such songs are marked with a +);
1- The Oath of Order+ (”Hikari Kingdom”, Kingdom Hearts)
•Aliantrice's most ancient song which was found carved on a wall of the prison cell where the Ocarina’s previous owner now rests, anyone who plays this song can actually silence the power of the Three Hearts (or at least prevent it from ending up in the wrong hands).
2- Simba's Calling (”Circle of Life”, the Lion King)
•When Rafiki teaches you this melody, you must play it for Simba to help him remember who he is. Play this tune afterwards to summon Simba in the open areas of Aliantrice, he shall become the noble steed you can ride upon to scale across the harsh terrain and long stretches of land. You can also use this song to communicate with certain animals.
3- The Symphony of the Winds+ (”A Whole New World”, Aladdin)
•After you agree to help Aladdin, he will allow you to call upon his magical friend Carpet using this song. Call upon him to instantly soar to any location you have previously visited.
4- The Tribute to the Hero's Resolve+ (”I can go the Distance”, Hercules)
•It seems that most people today have forgotten the true meaning of being a hero, hoping to keep the true meaning in his heart Hercules has written this song which he will pass onto you. Use it to bring peace to the wandering spirit of Darmani who will bless you with his strength by giving you the Goron Armor.
5- The Tribute to a Hopeless Dream+ (”Part of your World”, the Little Mermaid)
•Ariel's most cherished dream is to one day be able to see the world above the waters, a dream that her dear friend Mikau tries in vain to fulfill. By playing this song for him as he lays dying, he appoints you as the one who must help Ariel fulfill her wish thus giving you the Zora Armor.
6- A Friend's Nocturne+ (”Sally's Song”, the Nightmare before Christmas)
•Sally is very worried about losing Jack, her sorrow reflected in this song. As sad as it sounds, it is really a prayer for the safe return of her friend. It will allow you to take control of the current CPU-controlled partner you got by your side for a brief moment or two.
7- The Prelude of Manhood (”I'll make a Man out of You”, Mulan)
•This is an old song that the Aliantrice Military has used for generations as proof of one’s connection to Aliantrice’s military forces. As soon as Ping teaches you this melody, you are officially initiated as a soldier of high rank with the clearance to access areas of Aliantrice not possible before.
8- The Requiem of Black-Roses+ (”Beauty and the Beast”, Beauty and the Beast)
•A tale as old as time as told in this melody of love and romance, it allows you to heal using six Sea Salt Ice Cream Crystals and grants you the very key you need to done the Kingdom Armor should you seek it out.

Munny
Aliantrian Cash! You can be surprised how much loose change tends to end up in several areas (mostly Coins), and how much treasure is locked away. The color of a Munny Piece determines its value. Yellow is about one Munny, Green is about five Munny, Red is about ten Munny, Blue is about twenty Munny, Silver is about fifty Munny and Gold is about a hundred Munny.

Sea Salt Ice Cream Crystal
The result of a massive ice cream endorsement event gone array, there is now thousands of these strange crystals made of Sea Salt Ice Cream scattered across the many lands. The incident has also imbued the crystals with magical essence, this incidentally makes them usable as magical energy for certain items.

Binocular Goggles
Tetra's birthday gift to you which you managed to get back by that strange thief. It allows you to look around in first-person view, comes with zoom functions and an auto-focus. It can be up-graded with infra-red for seeing in darkness.

Sword
It’s dangerous to go alone, take this!
1- Kingdom Sword (Sword Level 1)
•A memento given to you by Princess Zelda. It is an unusual sword she has come across that is made of a strange steel unknown to Hyrule. She has taken the liberty of bestowing Hylian magic into its blade, allowing a Hylian such as Link to unlock it's hidden, mysterious power. It fits Link's small size perfectly and is light enough to use.
2- The Legendary Vorpal Blade (Sword Level 2)
•An optional upgrade that can be acquired from the Mad Hatter. He claims it is the real deal, the very blade that slew the legendary Jabberwock, and for at least fifty solid strikes on any enemy in range it definitely lives up to the name as it is able to kill enemies in a single strike. But after the fiftieth enemy instantly killed on one strike, the fucking thing breaks, and you’re right back to using the original Kingdom Sword. As the shop keepers of the King of Red Lions will later reveal this particular “Legendary Vorpal Blade” is a damn fake!
3- Blue Kingdom Sword (Sword Level 3A)
•One of two upgrades that can be purchased from the King of Red Lions. Whether you choose this or the other the result is essentially the same, that fake Vorpal Blade fixed and made into a powerful sword that will not break. Sadly it is not a one hit kill wonder but the increase of damage from the original Kingdom Sword is nothing to scoff at. The blue variation of this upgrade is imbued with ice magic and with a Sea Salt Ice Cream Crystal expended can charge up to deliver a solid ice slash that envelopes an enemy in cold so intense that they slow down drastically in movement for a limited time.
4- Red Kingdom Sword (Sword Level 3B)
•One of two upgrades that can be purchased from the King of Red Lions. This red variation has the same damage increase as the other, it is imbued with fire magic and with a Sea Salt Ice Cream Crystal expended can charge up to deliver a solid fire slash that burns enemies so severely that their attack strength is dwindled drastically for a limited time. Purchasing one of these variations will cause the other to be near impossible to acquire since now it can only be bought with Acorns. However if you do manage to acquire both variations you can speak to Chip & Dale at any point to trade in one variation for the other.
5- Disney Castle Sword (Sword Level 4A)
•An important item that you acquire only after you gather the pieces of it from completing certain dungeons. There isn’t any increase in damage but now you can kill Heartless without the Keyblade, Bow or Soul Eater. You also gain a nifty little ability to home in on locked on targets with a new dash attack. You can acquire this blade before any of the previous three upgrades however doing so will cause the other three upgrades to be unobtainable for the rest of the game.
6- Blue/Red Disney Castle Sword (Sword Level 4B)
•If you bought either the Blue or Red Kingdom Sword previously their abilities and damage increase are passed on, furthermore the variant you didn’t get is still available for purchase and thus you can trade in one variant for another once you buy the other.

Shield
As with the sword, this crucial item used in battle can be upgrade with additional shields found. While it seems that you are replacing one shield for another, any abilities the previous one had are retained and passed onto the new shield obtained (same applies to swords).
1- Hylian Shield (Shield Level 1)
•The other memento from Princess Zelda. Forged from the fires of Hylian's finest blacksmith, this shield can protect you from the harshest elements lurking in the darkness of the dungeons and the other dangers found in the far-flung corners of Aliantrice.
2- Black Pearl’s Crest (Shield Level 2)
•Just like the Hylian Shield, this shield can protect you from the harshest elements. However, it has a hidden magic of its own. When you step into moonlight baring this shield on your arm, you become an undead immortal Skeleton Link, immune to all forms of physical damage and even immune to jinxes! Once you step out of moonlight, you revert back to normal Link, no longer immune to damage. On a side note, you can utilize the shield's super shiny surface to reflect any form of light (whether it be solar or lunar light).
3- Kairi’s Lucky Charm (Shield Level 3)
•After meeting with Kairi once again, she decides to actually help Link by giving him a thallasa shell charm which becomes the central piece in forging a new shield for Link to use. Just like the Hylian Shield and the Black Pearl's Crest, this shield can protect you from all manner of external danger. Thanks to Kairi's charm the shield has an additional feature, the power to literally/automatically reflect and reverse any possible enemy projectile that makes contact with its shimmering surface.

Boots
Slip 'em on or off right on the very spot you stand, these boots are made for more than just walking.
1- Tigger’s Shoes (Boots Level 1)
•When you prove yourself to Tigger and Roo, they will appoint you as their “Honorary Bouncing Buddy” by giving you these unusual shoes that Link can done at any time. By holding down the button you charge them up, upon button release the shoe's hidden springs literally launch you at high velocity straight up (or at least straight from where you were just standing). The springs however require Sea Salt Ice Cream Crystals to be used, a single crystal used for each full charge.
2- Genie’s Greaves (Boots Level 2)
•After getting back the Genie of the Lamp, Aladdin's first wish is to give Link this boot upgrade in gratitude. The newest feature is the ability to hover in the air slowly descending downwards until the thruster burst from the bottom of the shoes go out. Only with these greaves can the previous spring function be used when the Goron Armor is donned. These shoes are quite susceptible to surfaces that give off a highly magnetic pulse, allowing you to traverse along some walls and ceilings for some topsy-turvy madness.
3- Rescue Ranger Issue Boots (Boots Level 3)
•An item that can be purchased from the King of Red Lions, it is a pair of boots that ”are the ideal footwear for any who fight against danger to help those in need of rescue”. When worn these boots grant the user increased foot speed and as a result can perform longer gap jumps, they also make the running stamina meter infinite.

Bombs
Cause we all know that one can’t have a Zelda game without bombs.
1- Blast Melons (Bombs Level 1)
•Rafiki teaches you how to use these ”exploding fruit” which you can use to pretty much blow shit up. Boulders, cracked walls, certain enemies, pretty much any obstacle that requires an explosive to remove. You may combine these melons with arrows to create "Bomb Arrows", however it uses both bomb and arrow ammunition.
2- Red Dragons (Bombs Level 2)
•Disposable paper made, gun-power loaded canons that each have one shot. They are basically bombs that can be aimed and launched at any target within range. There is no timed fuse lit meaning that these bombs don’t blow up in your face if you take too long and can thus be put away if not fired off. You are no longer able to combine bombs with arrows, not that you even need to anymore.

Hook
Another one of those essential items you can’t really do without.
1- Gadget’s Amazing Thingamadohicky (Hook Level 1)
•The most popular item found in the King of Red Lions’ stock, the reinvention of an ancient tool using the finest materials in all of Aliantrice. Using this “hook and rope” contraption, you can latch onto certain objects and swing across from one place to another. Can be adjusted to allow you to cross great gaps.
2- Spooky Rubber Soul (Hook Level 2)
•When you help him orchestrate a scary musical, Jack Skellington gives you this ghostly blob tool. It gives your hook tool a secondary mode, a “hook and chain” configuration to latch onto target-points from afar and then literally pull yourself straight towards the target-point you latched onto in a matter of seconds. Great for scaling great heights. You can switch between the two modes at the press of a button.

Bow & Arrow
Hope you’re good shot with one of these cause not only will it prove to be one of your most useful items but it’s also one of your only means of killing Heartless before acquiring the Disney Castle Sword.
1- Rainbow Dasher (Bow & Arrow Level 1)
•After beating him in the tournament, Hercules presents you with your prize. A bow weapon fashioned like a pair of wings and with a Pegasus head. The arrows give off a rainbow trail of light as they are fired.
2- Platinum Rainbow Dasher (Bow & Arrow Level 2)
•An optional item that can be purchased from the King of Red Lions, basically the Rainbow Dasher modified with a sniper scope and a slight increase in damage output.
3- Plasma Crossbow (Bow & Arrow Level 3)
•An optional item that can be acquired from the King of Red Lions but only after going through a side quest that has you ultimately gathering the parts needed for it. Now instead of arrows you get literal piercing rainbow bursts of plasma energy, the main difference besides a small increase in damage is an increased rate of fire allowing you to fire off several shots in rapid succession.

Triton's Trident
No not the genuine article wielded by Triton himself but a duplicate created from Triton’s own magic, a means for Link to go after Ursula the Sea Witch and face her in combat. It fires off an intense stream of electro-magnetic anti-gravity energy that can be used to lift impossibly heavy and large objects as well as impossibly large enemies, however it is prone to overheating and if it reaches its limit will stop functioning until it cools back down.

Soul Eater
A perfect duplication of Riku's dark blade that was used by the Phantom Souleater. Link gets a hold of it and later on will find it very useful in later dungeons. The blade can be tossed like a boomerang if the attack button is held down for a charge, the charge also triggering a “Dark Firaga” flame to emit from the blade. The blade requires Sea Salt Ice Cream Crystals to emit the flame that can actually light up torch pedestals and candles, the flame is also capable of burning down flammable objects.

The Keyblade
Sora will soon find that he cannot always fight side by side with Link meaning that the Keyblade’s crucial benefits will be unavailable for Link to call upon, after coming to this conclusion he makes the precaution to give Link the ability to wield Keyblades himself when necessary. Link’s ability to wield a Keyblade is very much limited, he can only wield Keyblades found in some dungeons (turns out certain dungeons have a unique Keyblade hidden away in a big decorated treasure chest within its chambers). It is basically the Big Boss Key of the dungeon needed to gain entry into the dungeon boss chambers, however unlike other keys found this key can be used as a secondary bludgeon weapon that can take out any Heartless enemy in one swipe but it requires two hands to use and as long as you have it in hand you cannot use other items, trying to use any other items will cause you to drop the Keyblade and you will have to pick it back up off the ground (if you choose to).

Armors
By first acquiring these armors, Link gains the option of donning them with just a push of the button, no long process of going into the menu screen and selecting them, just setting them to an item button and putting them on when the situation calls for it.
Goron Armor; The armor given to Link by the spirit of Darmani. With this Link will become as heavy and strong as a Goron, able to move heavy objects that Link can't normally budge in either form. Powerful gusts of wind that normally hinder Link's progress are virtually none-existent when he dones this armor. The armor is also extreme resiliant to extreme heat and can allow Link to traverse across burning hot surfaces.
Zora Armor; The armor given to Link by the dying Mikau. The primary function of this armor is to allow Link the ability to not only breath underwater but also to swim like a Zora and traverse floors that are submerged underwater.
Kingdom Armor; An optional armor that Link can only find if he commits to the several side quests he comes across. It can only be used during mid boss battles and dungeon boss battles and it not only does it increase defense but allows Link to fire off laser bursts with his sword (these bursts only deal about a fourth of damage that a solid strike from the sword would deal).

"Rainbow Dasher"
I see you trying to subtly 20% cooler-ify the whole darn thing--and this whole thing is so ingenious, too! I love it! A true exemplary work of art--not necessarily literally, but--wow!
And most excellent way to deal with the Big Keys. Immaculate.

Expanding on the songs for the Ocarina, I was thinking that "Elegy of Emptiness" should be in this idea. However, the song would have a different effect than the one from "Majora's Mask": it would create a Nobody in Link's image instead of a creepy-looking statue.

Okay, You said that the weapons are upgradeable, but optional.

Since the weapons are upgradeable, can the armors be upgradeable?

Tyrranux In reply to Cupidcomet77 [2011-07-26 20:07:28 +0000 UTC]

I don't think so, they aren't so much "armors" in the traitional sense as they are more like he tunics from OoT, the only difference being you can just asign them to a button on the D-Pad like you would the Bow and Bombs and such.
