"Battlecruiser!" the name just sounds so menacing! And cool!

Yes! It's not a battleship and it's not a cruiser! It's both in one awesome package and it will kick your ships sorry ass!!

Shame they had to sacrifice armor to achieve their high speed. We saw the disastrous effects of this at Jutland in World War One, and in the case of HMS Hood in the Second World War. Although the British crews neglecting their own safety regulations at Jutland also contributed to the loss of the Queen Mary, Indefatigable and the Invincible.

Like HMS HOOD, REPULSE had a similar layout and silhouette and WAS indeed, a very handsome warship. Before the Japanese began their attacks in late 1941, PM Churchill ordered REPULSE and the ill-fated PRINCE OF WALES (repaired after getting the hell beat out of her by BISMARCK earlier,) to the Pacific to show strength to the Japanese. The two warships arrived just in time to get caught, unescorted, in the open, when land-based Japanese dive- and torpedo-bombers sank them both.
This painting, with early evening colors, is striking! Excellent job!

Nicely done - I had Renown a little while ago. I would like to see you do the Japanese ISE - although I'm not sure how it is pronounced!

Ise? I want to draw it someday as well as some other Japanese battleships, but I don't even know when I will be ready to start.
It is pronounced simply as [ise].

It's too expensive to maintain such a ships. So Admiralty's decision to sell them for scrap was wise...
But whom I try to deceive? I understand your feelings, our own fleet was ruined too.

The whole world seems to be ruined nowadays... by the evil 1% since 1815.

nice job Joe,I was wondering, this is not a ctitic but....you are getting your model to that stage why you are not trying to texture it and to add reflections and more intense lights and shadows. You will see that you work will looks all the way professional !
I like it many many details

Thank you, Antonis.
Yes, that's the problem and I understand it.
The main reason is impatience. I can't spend too much time to one piece. If I dawdle over my picture more than one week, I start to hate it. Because there are so many ideas wait for their turn to draw. Also, much efforts bring tiny results often. 'Aim small, miss small'.
So it is my task to learn how to draw quick and efficiently without losing picture's quality.
Reflections and shadows... I am studying it now, and I even have lesser successes, but there are tons of secrets of light and color I still not understand. Or, if I even understand, I'm unable use them in practice.

well its not a problem but its evolution, for example for me ,the difficult part is to get to that stage but to do the lights and reflections are easy. You just need to practise, what i used to do is,take an old picture and start adding effects, you will see how nice it feels when you transform an old picture to something more interesting !

Yes, 'evolution, such a pretty little word'. I just need to draw more, and the results become more or less proper some time.
Hm, it's not bad idea to remaster some old picture. It's necessary to try it some time.

Another impressive work, this time with a 'going away' perspective. Unlike Renown, Repulse was not much altered in the late 1930's and kept her original profile to the end.

Thank you.
Yes, you're right, sir. Later modernizations didn't changed Repulse's appearance much in comparison with Renown.
