- STORYLINE -

It was clear for everyone in the world that the 1990s would be a decade of blood and guts. (So much for reaching the new millenium) The Yugoslavian civil war, the turmoils in a pan-communist Africa by a continental insurgency from the Sahel region, (We'll touch on that another time) and an America sworning in a Democratic from the first time since the 1970s and that was after one of the most violent race riots in American history. This year would be no different from the rest of the other years.

1993
While Bill Clinton is sworn in as the new president of the United States, the situation in the Balkans starts to stabilize a bit for the Yugoslavian Army Junta. Thanks to UN and Soviet help, they managed to stand their grounds and even gain some territory too. Some time around March, The Great Blizzard of 1993 strikes the eastern U.S., bringing record snowfall and other severe weather all the way from Cuba to Quebec; it reportedly kills 184 people. Not even one month later to October of that year, the effects of this calamity would also bring the Great Flood of 1993 as The Mississippi and Missouri Rivers flood large portions of the American Midwest. But these two events would be nothing compared to the Waco Siege: A 51-day stand-off at the Branch Davidian compound near Waco, Texas, ending with a fire that kills 76 people, including David Koresh after a questionable attempt of the ATF and FBI to break-in. More importantly, after the disaster, the statements given by both agencies left much to be desired. And just like with the King Riots last year, the Soviet Propaganda machine just needs so little to inform the people on how the US is "already beginning to implode from the inside." As other events such as the assassination of Sri Lankan President Ranasinghe Premadasa by a Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam suicide bomber, some parts of South America begin to experiment what a real democracy is, and as an Earthquake and subsequently a tsunami hits Hokkaido, Japan, the war in Yugoslavia still goes on. Despite the help from the United Nations, this war still costs money for the Soviet economy. This can be seen especially from the corruption within the apparatus of state. Coincidentaly, in the United States, an anti-Soviet group began to appear. Led by Isabella Angelina, the Warning Against Reds! Movement (WAR!) begin to denounce the Soviet Union, it's agressive international policy, the old guard doing everything in it's power to keep their control, Soviet war crimes, etc. All this while the situation for the Yugoslavians begins to stabilize as they are now gaining ground in both Croatia and Slovenia. Desperation sets in for the croats as they would go as far as to bomb the Stari Most, or Old Bridge of Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina. On top of that, the Soviet Union would sign a deal with Albania in regards to the Albanian economic situation in exchange for the regime to stamp out the cells of nationalist Kosovari armed groups who see this war as a chance to form Kosovo and break away from the formerly isolated Albanian communist regime. In December, as drug lord Pablo Escobar is gunned down in a police raid thus ending Colombia's most darkest history page, U.S. President Bill Clinton signs into law the North American Free Trade Agreement. One thinks that this would help the two North American and Central American states when it comes to their economy, but this illusion would soon be shattered by next year.

Very soon, an event would take place that would begin a chain reaction of events that will strike the American continent like a storm.
