I was talking to while she was doing her homework. And she told me all about Ireland and its.. famine 8D;This was her rendition of what happened in 1845. I laughed so much i had to draw it xD;
(I clearly put no effort into the art 8D)

The odd thing is...as I read this...there was a HUGE bowl of potato chips sitting next to me. XD *munch munch* These taste very salty...yum. ^^ (ish a salt and spice freak)

Kinda cute, but the potato famine was serious business. Not to be a wet blanket or anything, but it was pretty nasty.

This is funny. It also reminds me of a story - I was in line buying lunch at the market one day and the guys behind me were talking. I go to a rather health-concious school, so the one guy was teasingly scholding his friend about buying potato chips to go with his lunch. His friend responded that it went back to his Irish heritage and the potato famine. I laughed at that point and said "Yes. We Irish have to have some form of potato at least once a week, otherwise we start getting ansy." We all had a good laugh.

In Ireland, in 1845, while the Irish were still under British tyranny, the Brits took practically everything the Irish had as "rent". Including crops, animals, and heirloom stuff. So basically all they had to eat was potatoes with teeny bits of other things occasionally. One day, the potatoes developed a nasty fungal disease, rendering them inedible. It swept Ireland, causing widespread starvation.

The Irish did this amazing thing regarding the famine, we Got Over It, and developed a sense of humour. Others should try it.

there's an anamaniacs song about earthquakes...
there's history of the world...the comedy movie...one song about the inquisition...very deadly stuff there...but the song is funny...so are you gonna get them too?
in fact, now that i think about it....there's a lot of humor that can, in some way, be linked to something not so funny, like death. Seems like you've got your work cut out for you.
Or you could just accept the fact that she's just being silly, and realize that most Irish people have a good enough sense of humor that i think they dont mind. Im Irish....and I say I dont mind. And besides, humor about a bad situation....isn't necessarily a bad thing. Remember that...

-dies laughing- that's great, if only because I had English, Irish and general European history with the son of an Irish immigrant, he could make any class, including South East Asian Geography (took that with him too) into something about Ireland...I would LOVE to show him this, I think it'd make him laugh.
