Something I've been kind of working on. I made up Zurei a long time ago- back in 2009. But I recently gave him a revamp and now I'm thinking of making a comic. I'm not sure how that'll go but I'd like to try I guess ;A; I'll probably borrow a few of my friends characters for this too teehehe.Insona (c) Me.

To avoid possible comparisons/flame wars in the future, you might want to ditch the gray-skin/black-hair/sharp-teeth combo. It's a very similar look used in another giganticly popular webcomic.

I wasn't trying to insult the artwork or anything - I think they're pretty great designs. They just look similar, and there might be a lot of comparisons made in the future. But she doesn't have to change anything if she doesn't want to.

Of course MSPA didn't create trolls, even Hussie knows that. But they are the most popular trolls on the internet, and MSPA as a whole now has a bigger fanbase than friggin' Hetalia, so there may be a lot of people seeing these characters who'll say "Hey those look a little bit like trolls." Of course, one comment like that by itself isn't a problem, but getting hundreds of comparisons to trolls would probably get really, really annoying after a while, whether it's fair or not.

The fact of the matter is that you pointing it out is creating the exact same situation that you just described. Not only that, but your first comment was rather off-putting. No one has the right to tell another artist what to draw just because there are similarities to another artist. Just put it to rest, please. It's pissing Azer off and when Azer is pissed off, she stops sharing art work with the dA community since it puts a serious damper on her inspiration.

I see no reason why somebody should have to limit their creative talent or manipulate and otherwise change their original races/characters just because immature children can't keep their mouths shut and can't accept that Homestuck isn't the fucking holy grail of webcomics.
Azer needs to ditch nothing. If people cannot be mature and accept Homestuck didn't create grey skinned/black haired/sharp teethed creatures, that is their problem. You shouldn't suggest that somebody should limit their creativity or change their original characters just because "Oh god it looks similar to this and people might start hate wars over it."
Let the immature, moronic assholes be immature, moronic assholes. In the end, they're the people who look like tards and they're the people nobody likes.

I don't hate the artwork or designs or anything - I think they look great. I don't even think she has to change the designs if she doesn't want to. And I fully understand Homestuck didn't come up with that concept. However, I know that artists get tired of people looking at the thing they may or may not have worked hard on and then comparing it to some other big, famous thing and then hearing nothing but that.
And MSPA fans aren't being immature or moronic by simply making a comparison - they're just pointing out a similarity they noticed, and they may not know whether it gets on the artist's nerves or not (however, if they're saying something like "They're obviously a rip-off and they suck!", then they're being assholes). I've been around MSPA fans and cosplayers at anime conventions, and while they're a very wild bunch, they aren't obnoxious assholes (unless they happen to be Hetalia fans as well - then it's entirely possible).
I think the Insonas have a similar look, but I understand Azer came up with the idea before the Trolls in Homestuck were introduced as physical characters (they've been around since the comic began, but didn't have any actual designs until sometime around 2010, maybe late 2009). I know it's just pure coincidence.

The majority of my friends on the internet seem to find Homestuck the holy grail of webcomics, and frankly? Every single one of them has made me sick of it. I'm sick of seeing Homestuck, I'm sick of hearing about it, and I'm especially sick of the shit that fandom seems to bring with it.
From bitter and ridiculous shipping wars to constant rants about some ridiculous fanfiction to "OH MY GOD YOU CAN'T HAVE THAT OPINION EVER I HATE YOU" I'm not kidding when I say the entire fandom smacks of immature to me - and I'm including my friends in this comment. I love my friends but that doesn't stop them being ridiculously immature whenever Homestuck is concerned.
Initially you never spoke about simple comparisons between the Insonas and Homestuck - you simply suggested Azer should change designs to avoid a flame war. I rebutted this statement with the fact that anybody who starts a flame war about this by claiming some bullshit fact like trolls came first is being immature. To be honest, given my utter hate for Homestuck and increased hate for 99.9% of it's retarded/immature/irrational fanbase, I don't even see why people would need to sit around and compare Insonas to trolls.
Can't you take something as a creative piece of art or fiction as it is? Why do things have to be compared just because something else is uuuuuber popular and so OH MY GOD THEY MUST BE RELATED?! Frankly I still see no resemblance to trolls beyond the VERY basic black hair/pointy teeth/grey skin. Nothing else seems similar - they have no candy-corn coloured horns, they have no symbols of the Zodiac anywhere in sight, they aren't all talking like five year old morons with severe typing issues and they're also technically undead. (Or that's the jist I got, anyway.)
It is immature to just compare it to Homestuck in all the ways it's similar instead of focusing on how it's different (and by extension, individual.)
Also, as an additional note, I don't mean to offend you or any of the sane Homestuck fans out there in any way. I probably came across as snappish or snobbish and if I did, I apologise in advance. I have no real excuse aside from the fact I really do hate Homestuck just that much and it's 2:17 AM here, but I cannot sleep.
