This is a great reminder of a trip with my family when the kids were very young.Β We drive down the east side of the Rhine from Frankfurt, camped at Lorelai and explored every castle we could.Β Summer 1989.

I think it would have been a nice holiday. The Rhine valley is my absolute favorite even as a German living near Frankfurt.

Ever been to MΓΌnzenberg Castle?Β I love that place, especially on a stormy day.

Yes, it's a 45 minute trip away from Offenbach, my hometown. Have you seen the gallows tree in the fields nearby ?

No!Β I missed the gallows tree.
I lived on EgenolffstraΓe, Frankfurt, for about two years.Β First floor apartment next to a little wine shop.Β There was a common backyard area and most of the people living in the building would gather for outdoor cooking every month or so.Β Good times.

I had some similar experience back in the 80th, so long ago in a time people stand more together and don't act so selfish as they do nowadays.

Yes.Β This is true and sad.
My own feeling is that our digitally connected world prevents the human connections that it seeks to enhance.Β We can contact millions of people without connecting to any, and we have lost something without knowing it.

The strong contrast makes it look a bit spooky.Β
