This is the character select portrait of Vega for the upcoming Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix game coming out on XBox Live and the Playstation network.

I have to admit that I always found it funny that with a face like Vega's that he was almost always wearing that mask.

He wears the mask to keep his beautiful face protected. He doesn't want fighters to mark his features in any way.

What about his snake tattoo? It looks great btw, but only that small detail is missing.

Good point. One more thing though, and I'm not trying to obliterate the piece and maybe it's my eyes, but isn't Vega's ear off, or is it just me?

Talk about picking it apart haha. Yeah, the ear looks a little off as well. I think the reason I left those spots alone was because sometimes things in the foreground make things look a little weird by making them look either bigger, smaller or just seem like it's not there. Unfortunately, I wouldn't help but notice all these things if this was the final character select image.

I see what y'all mean, but I'm not too bothered.
One could argue it's just down to a unique art style, but at the end of the day, I'm too busy drooling over the game as a whole rather than worrying about any minor faults.

Oh no, don't say "unique art style" because I've always seen that as a crutch. I accept all art styles and work my comments around that when I offer a critique. My original observations wasn't based on style but more on the fact that one line went on over another in the neck making it look like the back of the neck rather than the front is all. That and the tattoo thing. That isn't style rather than just a miss in detail. Everything after my first comment could be categorized as style though and it wouldn't matter too much. Like I said, it could be the perspective throwing me off on the rest of the shoulder and ear, but I stand firm on the neck and tattoo issue.

I also agree with the weird anatomy to this...which reminds me why my teacher always insisted that we "draw through" everything, even things that are blocked or off the page.
Clearly in this case...something is a little fishy. I admire these artist and respect them fully...but personally I dont like the way Vega looks for this.... He's supposed to be Ridiculously good looking (lol) hence the point of his mask! Duuh.

I agree with you, on all points. And yea, he's missing the foreshortening line on the neck, I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed it.
The fact that this is going to be in a commercial game, especially in one I probably will play to death, makes me worry more about minor faults than I normally would.

Well, I'm pretty sure he's meant to be blonde, after all he's blonde in Street Fighter Alpha 3 and in his various Anime incarnations.
