A dark cloud hovers above me.
I can't escape it.
Everywhere I go
it follows.
No matter how I try to run from it,
it keeps pouring rain on me
covering me from sunshine.

Somehow I realize
the only way to escape
is to break through the clouds.
The solid grey wall
seems impossible to penetrate
but anyway I have to try.

I take all my strength
and rise up toward the sky.

Upon entering the clouds
I'm immediately blinded.
Everything I see is grey.
I don't know where I am
nor where I go.
I am only striving upwards,
fighting the force of gravity
pulling me down.

The mist is smothering me
cold as ice.
I can't see
I can't hear
I can't breathe.

Maybe it's better to let go
and return to the ground
caught safe
beneath the grey blanket.

Suddenly the mist begins to clear.
The dark grey
fades into a lighter tone.
I gather my last strength
and fight on.

As I break through the clouds
bright light surrounds me.
I soar into the blue sky
towards the sun.

I made it through.

Cotton candy clouds all below me
as I spread my wings
and learn to fly.
