Description
Photoshop cc and wacom bambooNone of the photos used in this tutorial are mine, I colect them (among others) from the internet to use it as example of general references of a particular species. These photos capture some of the more remarcable features of Aprhastura spinicauda (rayadito).
I put this fotos on this tutorial just as an example of how you can make an illustration of a creature not by copying a picture (which capture a particular moment in the life of a paticular individual), but by taken all the relevant features of the creature to make an original piece that reflect the main features of a species. To do this, you need to study a lot of pictures of the selected animal.
Here are the links of the photos used as example in this tutorial and the autor name (these guys have awesome galleries):

yes. I use several photographs as reference material, and then I try to make the subject as representative an neutral (incidence of ligth, fur/feathers colour variation) as posible, because it has to represent the entire species.

I'm sure most wildlife painters use photos for reference. I bet it's a nightmare to get those little guys to pose and stay still while you paint.
Love the texture on the tail feathers.

Congrats on the DD! And thanks for showing me what my bamboo can do, even though I haven't used it as yet.

Well done! This is an excellent example of properly using photographs as reference and not merely redrawing a single shot. Excellent use of multiple sources of information to create a well-crafted finished product!

¿No has pensado en algún proyecto dibujando aves o fauna?
Super felicitaciones
