This illustration really touched my mind. I immediately associated it with "Space Age Love Song", "Transfer Affection" and "I Ran" Which of course are songs about falling in love with an alien (kind of)

A cephalopodic gentlemen automaton, interesting concept indeed.

I see it not so much as an Automaton, but that he figured out how to place himself in a more upright form, so its a truer steampunk, in that the "cephalopod" is actually quite a bit smarter and built himself a chasis with which to follow this gorgeous woman onto land, and to court her with. Or what have you.

The womans dress is absolutely stunning, and the small patch at the bottom underneath is a nice touch.
