Description

That night, Amelith was charged with the duty of mining asteroids on the outskirts of Ghearaa’s Anvil. She floated around space looking for minable rocks, but there were none to be found in this backwater patch of space.

"Booooring!" She thought to herself, "When I get back to the Orso Mining Platform I'm gonna have a little talk with my foreman. See about getting that transfer to Shepherd Wake."

She rested her chin on her hand and began to doze off.

There was a loud bang on the hull of her ship, which forced her awake.

"What in the holy hell was that?!"

Another crashing sound was heard, this one louder then before. She recognized the sound... starship blaster fire on her shield! This was not good!

The image of a syvorian pirate appeared on her holographic viewscreen. It sneered at her and began to speak. "'ello, sweetheart! Finding anything good? Well, I intend to find out!"

Amelith's mind raced back to the crates that she had in her cargo... a haul of rare metals that she had picked up from the Anvil several days prior. She'd be damned if that scaly sonofabitch got his hands on it! Her ship may be an old clunker, but it could still outmaneuver any pirate's ship.

She tried to shake the pirate, but it was no use. She then spotted an electrical storm ahead.

"He'd be crazy if he followed me there!" She thought, and steered her ship towards it. Her ship may have shields to protect her form the storm, but she was willing to bet two ghaash that his ship did not.

She braced herself and entered the storm.

Next thing she knew she was crash landing in a pile of sand.
She crawled out from her ship. Thank the goddess, she was alive. Then she saw the wreckage of her ship...

"No! No! No no no!" She exclaimed, "It's wrecked! It'll never fly again!"

She signed and buried her head in her hand. She knew her only chance was to find help so she buried her cargo so nobody would find it and then headed off along the beach, leaving her ship to be scavenged by pirates for scrap metal....
