Is it just me or does the lab coat seem to be going through her tail, with the way it's out below? o.o

There's probably a hole in the back of the coat where her tail is sticking through.

I thought about that, then I thought about the sheer hassle involved in poking a large poofy squirrel tail through a hole in the back of a coat... and the middle-split doesn't go up that far, so...

Yes, I agree that it's impractical, but I've seen a lot of anthro characters whose wardrobe is like that, regardless of tail size. That's why I design my characters' pants/shorts/skirts/etc. with a tail slot and strap that has a clasp to hold it together. As an example, here are a couple of pics in which I've drawn my characters from behind. This one is also a squirrel:[link] . This one is a skunk:[link] .

I have to admit, the clasp setup makes perfect sense; I hadn't thought about how you'd actually keep it together, but I'd always thought there had to be a sort of slot rather than just a hole. Oh well, regarding the original thought - I'm just picky on the oddest things... I tend to overthink practical considerations when working characters out. Sometimes items get handwaved, more often not. Still, as long as artist and commissioner are happy, that's really what matters, innit?

I suppose it is. As long as you both are satisfied with the finished product, it's OK to overlook a something minor like a tail hole, especially if it's a front view. Btw, what did you think of my drawings?

To be honest... anatomy and perspective need work? Depends on what you're going for, though.

As for concept and design, seems to be just fine... a reasonably practical modern "real life" sort of thing with the clothing, though when I look back, my OCD says the pants-hole seems a bit large for something that's mostly fur. It appears to be allowing for the entire thing, treating it as a completely solid object rather than the smaller tail with big fur-fluff that it would normally be on those species. Wouldn't be an issue on, say, a short-haired cat, a doberman (non-docked), or a kangaroo, though.

For the record... I can't draw worth a damn, so take what I say with a grain of salt.. stick figures are about my limit.

Ok, that's fair, though I'm not entirely sure what you mean by "perspective".

I guess I was thinking their tails would already be somewhat thick when starting from the hole, but then they would gradually bush out, having more fur than actual flesh as they went. I actually do have a short-haired cat and a kangaroo as two of my characters. Seen here:[link] , and here:[link] .
