Description
Some good guesses and some got close! As I expected, though nobody got 100%.
Aredon is my main character and lives in my massive sci-fi universe. Like all of my characters that appear to be human, Aredon actually isn't human. He's an athenian, which decended from humans enough to be classified as a different species. Athenian bodies have evolved to be much more efficient than their human ancestors and they have eyes that are much brighter and clearer than that of a human. This combined with a taller build and smooth, porcalain-like skin that is hairless below the neck gives them an otherwordly appearance. (My avatar here on dA is Aredon's eye)
Backstory Summary:
I'm going to keep this part super brief since otherwise it will contain too many spoilers for future stories I want to write.
The youngest son of Aron Bredrit, a legendary hero in the Athenian military, Aredon always wanted to follow in his father's footsteps. Growing up, he was close with his entire family, but especially his older brother, Kyjja (who will popup in a future task).
As soon as he turned 18, he joined the Imperial Navy. Unfortunately for him, soon after he graduated boot camp was when the othians attacked the Athenian homeworld without warning or provocation, signalling the beginning of the Athenian/Othian war. Both of Aredon's parents were killed in the initial attacks since they were vacationing in Silver Lake, one of the hardest bombed areas. This is something that makes Aredon incredibly angry when he thinks about it since he believes that it was not a suitable end to the life of his father, who lived as a decorated warrior and hero.
Aredon fought in the Athenian-Otherian war for 4 years until the conflict was resolved (the actual story of the war will be explained in my upcoming "Blind Man's Tale" graphic novel). Aredon became the Emperor's personal warrior and the next six years are spent rebuilding after the war. This is the point where the bulk of stories involving Aredon start. He is aged 28-35 for most of his stories.
Some more of Aredon's story is going to be explained in future tasks, which will feature the events that explain why and how he climbed ranks so quickly to get to where he is.
Occupation:
In round 11, I said that Akihiro is Emperor Himnare's right hand warrior. Aredon.... is also the Emperor's right hand warrior, but for different reasons.
Akihiro is the Emperor's personal bodyguard, while Aredon heads an elite military platoon directly under the Emperor's orders called The Imperial Suns.
The Imperial Suns is a group of about 45-50 soldiers hand picked by Aredon himself that loyally serve the Emperor, his family and his interests. They have been known to do anything from defending some of the Emperor's allies on hostile planets to acting as extra security and bodyguards for Imperial events. Basically, whenever the Emperor needs something done that requires force, it is the duty of Aredon and the Imperial Suns to make sure that it gers done.
He also serves as the captain of the ASTS Comet, a large ship that can tranport not only the members of his platoon, but all the soldiers in his company to different missions. He isn't particularly happy about being captain, but unless the Emperor or Supreme General T'aben are on board, he is the highest ranking person on the ship.
Since the Comet tends to travel to planets that are underexplored, it also serves as a diplomatic vessel where Alliance scientists are allowed to be on board to study the different planets that they travel to, so Ared deals with scientists as well as members of the military.
Personality:
At seven feet of pure muscle, Aredon stands as a titan among men. This leads others to believe that he is a big, dumb brute which can't be further from the truth. He is highly intelligent, a natural strategist and a born leader. He does enjoy when his opponants underestimate his intelligence so he can use it against them. "Himbo" is really not a good description for him since it implies stupidity. Aredon is actually one of my smartest characters.
He is a gentle giant, showing immense amounts of love, patience and compassion towards others. Especially friends, his team, his family and his Emperor. He prefers not to fight unless he knows it's necessary and would rather stand back and assess a situation rather than charging in blindly.
While he appears serious, he does have a good sense of humor and enjoys trolling his men. Especially when he has to put on his drill sergeant persona and put them through rigorous training to keep them in peak form. One time Davik forgot his ID card so Aredon made him carry a giant, crudely drawn ID card made out of cardboard for the rest of the day to teach him not to forget it again. (He also did a similar thing when Ethan forgot his rifle for training... he made Ethan carry a giant cardboard rifle that he made him refer to as his "Wife-fle")
Speaking of peak form, while his years of bodybuilding gives him an impressive physique, he built his muscles for show rather than for brute strength. Dont get me wrong, he is still strong as an ox, but not as much as he could be. He says that he keeps up his physique to intimidate others so they will think twice about attacking him, but it is more likely that he does it to give himself confidence that he may otherwise lack. It is also important to note that while his body is built for strength, he is severely lacking endurance. He can bench press over twice his own weight, but would quickly become short of breath running a marathon.
Nobody is perfect and Aredon does have some negative traits as well. While he typically doesn't usually care if someone wrongs him personally, if he feels like someone has wronged a loved one then the gloves come off. He can become spiteful, petty and judgemental towards anyone that messes with his brother, girlfriend, friends or soldiers. When in a bad mood, he tends to sulk and become antisocial to the point that he will not talk to anyone.

- Terran Wander 1 - Aredon began life as a character in a long defunct MMORPG that I used to play. This song was the anthem of his species and even to this day I see it as his main theme song.
- The Things I've Seen by Mark Tremonti - Not only does this song perfectly fit Aredon, but the singer's voice is what I picture Aredon's voice to sound like.
- Show Me a Leader by Alter Bridge - The lyrics should speak for themselves.
Response to some of the guesses:
- No, he is not a mercenary. In fact, he would likely find the comparison to be highly insulting since he doesn't typically like most mercenaries. Even those that the Emperor hires. In fact, he has butted heads with Cero, a privateer that the Emperor has directly hired numerous times.
- Someone also pointed out the beastmaster in the background. No, it's not Tara. It's Liah, Tara's best friend. The Imperial Navy often emplys beastmasters as a sign of good faith with the faction (also, they make top notch scouts). Liah is the resident beastmaster on Ared's team although Irvine and Tara will help out if more firepower is needed on a mission. Liah will be in a future round of OC training.
- Yes, Liah does use a spear since it's the traditional weapon of her order. In fact, many in my universe prefer high tech melee weapons over firearms. Though most that do have supernatural abilities so no, they aren't "useless". The emperor himself uses a sword and could best anyone who uses a gun because of his abilities.
- He does have a uniform, but doesn't always wear it unless in a direct combat situation.
- Someone mentioned the planet in the background being Jupiter. It's actually just a random gas giant to point to a space theme. My headworld takes place about 500,000 years in the future in a different galaxy from the Milky Way, so even if Jupiter is still around at that time, it is far away from Aredon.
